The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Achievements

Achieve character level 35.

This isn’t easy, but there are a few ways to make the journey a little quicker.

One of the most important methods is to gain the Experienced perk which offers a +10% XP boost. This is achieved by destroying 10 different training dummies. You can do this across a number of locations in the game, but it is best to do it as soon as possible.

The earliest place to get this is in Foltest’s Camp. There are 5 dummies in the area that respawn. Destroy 10 and you’ll earn the perk.

I strongly advise doing this on your easy playthrough. This achievement requires you to complete pretty much every quest as well as kill just about every monster you encounter. If, like me, you missed or failed some quests here and there, or you think you aren’t going to hit level 35 by the end of the game, fear not. First off, the last quest, A Summit of Mages, will net you 1000XP for completing it, so you have to be level 34 before you go through with it (make a save before you do it just to be safe) if you want to get this achievement. Most importantly, there is actually a spot in Chapter III that will allow you to easily grind for XP.

The spot is located just outside the Loc Muinne city, in the camp of the Knights of the Order. These knights wear red armor and you will be able to kill them indefinitely for about 5XP every kill. They respawn almost instantly and most of the time they don’t even fight back, making it ridiculously easy to farm here. Grind here until you reach level 34, and then proceed to complete the last main quest.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Many people have reported not being able to attack the Knights at all, hence not being able to kill them. If you followed Iorveth’s path, you should be able to do this automatically, and they will actually attack you on sight. On Roche’s path, you must help Roche rescue Anais La Valette from Dethmold, and tell him to reconsider giving her to the Order, and to consider his other options. Make a save before you talk with him here, just to be safe. You’ll know you did it right if Roche says he has other plans when the Order confronts him outside of Dethmold’s hideout, because after the dialogue, a combat encounter will occur, and you’ll fight the order. After fighting them here, return to the camp outside Loc Muinne and start killing them.

To minimize the grinding, I would recommend taking on as many side quests as possible and fighting every enemy you encounter without running past it. However you decide to go about doing this, the achievement will unlock once you hit level 35.

There is no game+, play "Iorveth" storyline if you want this achievement easier...

Getting to level 35 in the arena doesn't count. Just thought I'd throw that out there after beating the 30th fight.

Played Iorveth's side and got it literally at the start of the epilogue. I didn't do all the monster extermination quests though.

I went with Roche the first time and also was a few hundred shy of 34. I completed every quest except for 3 that I failed (in the prologue).

I finished Roche's side with only 250 XP short of 35... If I've made the entire Heart of Melitelle quest I would've got it

There is a way to boost leveling: if you destroy 10 dummies/mannequins you'll be awarded with ability/perk that increases received XP by 10%. You can find dummies in Prologue before meeting Foltest, some are near Loredo's house and some are next to one of the ways out of Flotsam. I think that you can destroy the same dummies multiple times.

It is possible on Roche's Path but regardless you should be doing every quest and trying not to fail. Never say no to helping people and don't take the short way out like #6 said with Melitele's Heart, and try and push for the combat often where possible, with a few exceptions obviously. Don't want to post any spoilers so use the wiki to find out if some quests can be failed by making the wrong choice, or if certain fights can be missed out on.

FYI, I went Dark on my first play-through and sided with Iorveth. I got the 10% EXP perk in Foltest's camp (The five training dummies re-spawn if you wait a few days. You need to destroy 10 total but make sure to destroy at least one with BOTH types of sword). I farmed Nekkers in Flotsam BEFORE completing ANY side-quests until I was level 14 (Because at L14 Nekkers no longer give EXP). Doing this I was level 20 at the START of ACT II and hit L35 BEFORE the end of ACT II.

These strategies helped me get both 'Guru' and 'Madman' on the same play-through with little frustration.

I just finished my second play through and got this achievement on Roche's path. In the beginning of the game I was trying to kill more things to help level up and about half way through I kinda gave up after reading that Iorveth's path was much easier to do this. I know I've failed some quest and didn't pick up others. However it was the very last group of enemies that before Letho that pushed me over to lvl 35.

Thats my 2 cents

I just finished Dark playing Roche's path and I ended up about 450 XP short of level 35. I didn't complete Melitele's Heart all the way and I also failed the Little Sister's quest. Furthermore, I did not know about the 10% experience boost by hitting the training dummies. So, to get to my point, it can be done on Roche's path, but every quest needs to be completed successfully if you don't have the 10% XP boost. With the XP boost, you could probably fail a few a still make it.

Damn. I just started Act 3 at level 29. Thought I'd done everything but didn't realise there was a 10% bonus or tasks at the very beginning. Looks like dark mode is gonna be a biatch.

Followed Roche's path for my 1st playthrough, lvl34 and around 500 xp short of lvl35. Kinda annoying.

you need to be lvl 34 before doing the quest "the mages summit". if you lack XP you can attack and kill the soldiers outside the city (Knights of the Flaming Rose) right where you first enter. Each yields 5xp and they respawn almost instantly and infinitely.

Just playing through the game normally, you know, doing the quests,side-quests and contracts-the things you should be doing anyway regardless of whether theres an achievement driving you onward.
Play the game, explore, talk to NPC's-and enjoy the fantastic world and story this particular game offers-and you'll reach lvl 35 without even thinking about it!!

At the beginning of Chapter 3 of Iorveth's path, at the bottom of the hill/mountain you walk down, if you go and fight the guards, they will respawn (at least they did on my game). it might be a little time consuming but, I was able to farm experience here to ensure this cheevo.

just do everything and take your time exploring, killing the odd enemies that show up. I was level 35 for pretty much all of disc 2 i think.

Just a note about the training dummies in Flotsam near the guards. You don't need to go at nighttime when they are sleeping, just unequip your weapons and use your fists. The dummy still counts as a kill and the guards don't get mad.

#15 is absolutely right. I just got The Mages Summit quest around level 33.5 and went right outside the main gates and did this method. You can easily just sweep the area heading from the gate to up on the hill to the left, the head back down, then repeat the process. I got to level 34 in about 15-20 minutes by doing this and can confirm that if you carry on with the missions at level 34, you will definitely get to 35 by the end of the game.

Just a note that, although the "destroying the same dummies" method seems to be disabled by the patch, I was able to get the 10% bonus by clearing my cache and playing offline. I had missed all the dummies in Foltest's camp, but was able to get it in Flotsam by alternating between destroying the ones at the Nonhuman exit, at Loredo's compound, and in the guardhouse. That said, the ability didn't pop after 10 - it took around 12-14 kills total, and didn't pop until after I took out the 2 in Loredo's compound.

Took Roche's path and didn't get the 10% exp bonus, i didn't use a guide during my first playthrough so i'm sure i missed a few quests here and there and i still got this, i was around 34.5 right before the summit without needing to grind, i just killed everything that got in my path

farming the dummies still works on the enhanced edition just takes about 12-18 dummies..i made a save in front of ones I have not destroyed..killed the dummies waited 3-4 days and just went to each location in Flotsam and they were already/always respawned and the text "new ability-experienced" popped up

It's worth noting for anyone playing the game GWG, that quest "Where is Triss Merigold" gives you 2500xp for completion so save just feboremaking decision and go through that path, I was Level 29 and got to 35 before game ended.
