The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Achievements

Last Man Standing

Survive your 30th fight in the Arena

The option to choose the Arena is found under “Start New Game.”

You can die as many times as you like on the way to earning this achievement. You can also lower the difficulty to Easy. However, you cannot save, so you have to do it in one sitting.

Make sure you use Quen regularly, keep moving so as not to get swarmed, and take advantage of parry and riposte opportunities.

Note: Despite the fact that you can earn up to 35 talent points and 10K Orens in the arena, they do not contribute to the Guru or Miser achievements.

You can die in the Arena as many times as you want and still get this achievement.

I wasn't sure at first since once you die you stop getting Arena points towards the leaderboards unless you quit and start over but winning the 5th and 30th fight still count for the achievement.

A few useful things to know:
-Accessed from main menu>New game>Arena.
-You are allowed to die.
-A wave (win/or lose) will always level up your character so spend those talents!
-This is not linked to your campaign character.
-Utalise the store (to the left of the arena enterance)/
-Must be done in one go, no reloading later.
-Paying AI to help is usually a waste of money.
-No, non-arena specific achievements can be gained in the arena.

-The game automatically draws the most approriate equipped sword you have for the wave (steel/silver).
-Due to the way the leveling system works (enemie don't level with you) it gets easier(ish) as you go along.
-Choose easy difficulty.
-Don't get talents that prove useless in the arena.
-The 4 fires on the ground can hurt you, don't roll into them.

Didn't use any alchemy talents; instead I focused on magic & swordmanship talents, which proved useful (easy difficulty). Get quen spell and the upgrades as soon as possible and the rest is easy.

I personally recommend getting the parrying, backstab damage reduction and dodge distance increases from the swordsman path, the bomb damage upgrade from the alchemy path and the rest on the magic path, avoiding the axii upgrades since they usually get you killed by the time you finished casting them. Don't bother claiming upgrades or runes for your prizes; just pick the weapons and armours as gifts and use your money on bombs from the shop. An NPC helper will be useful until around wave 10-13 but they start getting chewed up after that so don't bother. A fully upgraded Qeun sign with the Venting ability is a must. SHould take about an hour. Dont forget if you lose a wave you still level up!

As per everybody above, great advice. If still in a tight spot with a particularly difficult wave, having your evading roll skill fully upgraded as well as a full Igni sign will prove very useful. The Igni level 3 sign will cast area effect. Also, unlock every vigor upgrade you can. Simply unleash Igni, then evade and kill time til vigor is restored, rinse and repeat. Start with the weaker enemies as usual. When down to a smaller number, you can get in for a few hits before backing out. It is amazing how crucial learning to properly evade, when to have the courage and insight to come in for a few strikes, and the discipline to know when to back off instead of slashing away is to this game. Especially, on Dark difficulty. Be fearless, yet disciplined w your combat. Get cocky and y
