Introduction:
Ticket to Ride is a railway building game based on the award winning board game of the same name designed by Alan R. Moon. The adaptation is very true to the board game and is easy to learn but has depth of strategy that can be utilized to overcome skilled opponents.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
Start with the tutorial to get the basics down, and then find a boosting partner. You will want to do all the other achievements in ranked matches with a partner.

Work through the various achievements while getting your 25 wins in ranked matches. The games will all be basically the same, following this format:

When you start, choose the minimum number of destination cards unless the achievement you are aiming for says otherwise. Your partner will take the minimum also, and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. You will focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 44 cards. Note that some achievements will have you draw to 60 cards instead. Once you have enough cards, start placing railways, either working toward the goals of the achievement in question, or just placing the longest rail you can each turn. Once your train count drops to 2 or below, everyone takes a final turn and you will notch up a win. Even if you don't complete any destination cards, you will still get a win because of the points for placing railways and your partner being several hundred points negative. Each game should take 8-10 minutes.

Multiplayer:
All of the achievements except the tutorial can be earned in 1x1 ranked matches. You can earn many of them in single player instead with a second controller if you so desire, but you might as well be efficient and do them all in ranked matches so you don't have to spend twice the time.

To avoid any potential glitches with "I Think I Can!," don't purchase the DLC until you this one unlocks. If you have already purchased the DLC, do your 25 ranked wins on the North America map.

The achievements are all very easy with a partner and shouldn't cause any stress at all, and the game is short enough you shouldn't get bored except while taking your turns losing to help your partner get his wins.

DLC: Ticket to Ride Europe

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
There are only two achievements in this DLC, and they can both be earned by the same method listed above, either with a partner on LIVE or with two controllers on your console. Getting each major destination involves a little bit of luck, but since you can quit at the beginning if you get a repeat, it shouldn't take more than two hours and likely much less.

DLC: Ticket to Ride USA

Abbreviated Walkthrough:
There is only one achievement, and you can earn it in your first game simply by completing one game after choosing to keep all of your initial destination cards. As such, it should take less than 10 minutes to complete, and it can be done on LIVE with a partner or in a local game with two controllers.

Conclusion:
Overall this is a very easy game with one achievement that can glitch on you. If you follow the guide it shouldn't cause any concerns and can be a good bit of fun with friends as well.

Basic Training5
Complete the Tutorial.

Start up a local game and the default location is "Tutorial." Complete the walkthrough of how to play the game and this will unlock.

Train Drain10
Play all of your Trains during the match.

You must end a match with zero trains left. You start with 45, and the game will give everyone one more turn as soon as someone has two or fewer trains left. This is done easier if you give yourself 60 cards at the beginning of the match instead of stopping at 44. Simply plan your last few moves such that you will end exactly at zero, with your last railway being at least two in length so that you don't run out of turns.

The achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed.

No Train, No Gain10
Win 1 Ranked match playing Ticket to Ride™. (2)

You will unlock this the first time you play a ranked match. It can be on any map, including the DLC. The quickest game is detailed below:

When you start, choose the minimum number of destination cards. Your partner will take the minimum also, and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. You will focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 44 cards. Now start placing railways, placing the longest rail you can each turn. Once your train count drops to 2 or below, everyone takes a final turn and you will unlock this achievement.

The achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed.

The Long Haul10
Attain the Longest Continuous Route bonus card 5 times.

The name of the bonus in the game is actually Longest Continuous Path. There are some DLC maps where the Longest Continuous Path bonus is changed to a different name or is not available, and those maps do not count toward this achievement. The bonus is awarded to the player with the longest continuous set of railways. While you can in theory get a length of 45, as long as your partner doesn't play any railways you should get this every game.

This can be unlocked in local play or online. The achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed after your fifth qualifying game.

One Track Mind5
Make sure all of your Routes are connected by the end of the match.

To unlock this achievement, all of your routes have to be connected in some way. They do not need to be a continuous route, you can have dead end branches and still unlock the achievement. You can easily earn this using the method detailed below:

When you start, choose the minimum number of destination cards. Your partner will take the minimum also, and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. You will focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 60 cards. Once you have enough cards, start placing railways, always placing them starting at a city you already have a rail running to (other than your first move, obviously).

This can be unlocked in local play or on LIVE. The achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed.

The Big Score30
Score at least 150 points in a single match.

You need at least 150 points, including bonuses, to unlock this achievement. This is easily done with a partner on LIVE, or in a local match with two controllers.

When you start, choose 8 destination cards, preferably all on one half of the map (Duluth marks the midpoint, so try to stay on one side or the other as much as possible.) Your partner will take the minimum and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. Once you have 8 destination cards, focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 60 cards. Once you have enough cards, start placing railways, focusing on connecting as many destination cards as you can. At the end of the game you should have between 220-300 points, easily earning this achievement.

The achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed.

Canadian Content25
In a Xbox LIVE match, connect all Canadian cities and win. (4)

This achievement must be unlocked on LIVE, although it can be in either a Player or a Ranked match. For maximum efficiency, I recommend doing it in a Ranked match so it counts toward your 25 wins.

When you start, choose the minimum number of destination cards. Your partner will take the minimum also, and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. You will focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 44 cards. Once you have enough cards, start placing railways across the top of the map so that you connect all of the Canadian cities. After that, simply place the rest of your railways as quickly as possible to end the match.

The achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed.

All Aboard!10
Finish a match in which you have completed all of your Destination Tickets.

You should do this multiple times while working toward your 25 ranked wins. Following the steps below will make this an easy achievement:

When you start, choose the minimum number of destination cards, preferably short ones or ones that are close to each other. Your partner will take the minimum also, and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. You will focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 44 cards. Once you have enough cards, start placing railways to connect your destinations. Once they are connected, focus on placing the rest of your railways as quickly as possible to end the match. Once your train count drops to 2 or below, everyone takes a final turn and the match is over.

This achievement can be unlocked in any game mode and on any map. It will unlock once the final scores are displayed after the match.

Loco Motive30
Complete 8 or more Destination Tickets during a single match.

This is easily done with a partner on LIVE, or in a local match with two controllers.

When you start, choose 8 destination cards, preferably all on half of the map (Duluth is roughly midpoint on the North America map). Your partner will take the minimum and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. Once you have 8 destination cards, focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 60 cards. Once you have enough cards, start placing railways, focusing on completing all of your destination cards. After all 8 destinations are completed, play any remaining railways you have left to end the game.

As long as you complete all 8 destination cards, the achievement will unlock after the final scores are displayed.

I Think I Can!30
Win 25 Ranked matches playing Ticket to Ride™. (3)

This achievement can glitch on you and become unachievable in several circumstances. In the originally released unpatched game, this achievement was broken. The patch fixed it, but only if you play your ranked matches on the North America map (not a DLC 1910 variant). There are several reports that having the DLC purchased and installed when you try to unlock this makes this unachievable as well. There are also at least three reports that it will not unlock if you spread your gameplay over multiple consoles. To ensure you can unlock it, purchase the game and not the DLC, and then play all 25 ranked matches on that same console.

When you start, choose the minimum number of destination cards. Your partner will take the minimum also, and every turn will choose just one destination card until he runs out and then switch to drawing railway cards. You will focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 44 cards. Once you have enough cards, focus on placing your railways as quickly as possible to end the match. Once your train count drops to 2 or below, everyone takes a final turn and the match is over.

This achievement can only be unlocked in Ranked games on the North America map. It will unlock once the final scores are displayed after the match once you have 25 wins.

Master Conductor25
Complete 50 matches.

You must play 50 matches to completion to unlock this achievement. All matches count, whether on LIVE or local, but they must be played on the North America map (not a DLC 1910 map or Europe).. Quitting out does NOT increment this counter, you must see the final score screen for it to count. The fastest game type is detailed in the roadmap.

Secret Achievements

Underachiever10
You played 10 games without earning any other achievements. (2)

This achievement will unlock after you have played 10 games in which you unlocked no other achievements. The only games that count toward this achievement are matches played on the North America map (not a DLC 1910 map or Europe).

DLC: Ticket to Ride Europe
Cost: $7.49 USD Achievements: 2 Points: 30

European Track Star15
Complete each of the 6 European Destination Tickets worth 20 or more points.

At the beginning of the game, you have multiple destination tickets presented to you. When playing the Europe variant in the DLC, one of them will always be a special ticket worth 20 or more points. These do not show up during normal game play and must be selected as one of your initial tickets. There are six tickets and their appearance is random. While one will always show up, which one is simply a matter of chance. You will need to complete each one to unlock this achievement, so if one shows up that you have already completed, quit immediately and start the game up again, repeating until you are presented with a ticket you have not yet completed.

The six destinations are:

  • Palermo - Moskva
  • Brest - Petrograd
  • Kobenhavn - Erzurum
  • Edinburgh - Athina
  • Cadiz - Stockholm
  • Lisboa - Danzig

This can be unlocked in local play or on LIVE, but can only be earned on the Europe map. If you are playing on LIVE, every participant must have the DLC to join the match.

Au Naturel15
Win a Ticket to Ride Europe™ match without playing any Stations.

Stations are a game mechanic that lets you share cities and railways with other players when determining if you have completed a destination ticket. As long as you don't build any, you will unlock this achievement the first time you get a win on the Europe map. As such, it should unlock when you are working toward "European Track Star."

This can be unlocked in local play or on LIVE, but can only be earned on the Europe map. If you are playing on LIVE, every participant must have the DLC to join the match.

DLC: Ticket to Ride USA
Cost: $4.99 USD Achievements: 1 Points: 20

The Ticket Master20
Keep all 5 Destination Tickets at the beginning of a 1910 Mega Game and win. (2)

This achievement requires that you select and keep all five destination tickets that are presented to you at the start of a 1910 Mega game. The Mega game has more than 60 destination tickets, so many more than a normal game, and some of them can be quite long. Since you don't get to pick and choose, you may have to try this multiple times, but it can be done in local play with a second controller or on LIVE with a partner, so the only barrier to success is having enough trains.

When you start, choose all of the destination cards offered. Your partner will take the minimum, and every turn will choose just one destination card (there are so many he will not run out the entire game). You will then focus on drawing railroad cards, always drawing two face down cards until you have 60 cards. Once you have enough cards, focus on placing your railways as efficiently as possible to get all five of your destinations completed. Typically the destinations tend to form two groups, one at each side of the map, and you can basically connect the cities on each coast and then done one railway across the country horizontally to finish all of the destinations. Once your train count drops to 2 or below, everyone takes a final turn and the match is over.

The achievement will unlock once the final scores are displayed. This can be unlocked in local play or on LIVE, but can only be earned on the 1910 Mega map. If you are playing on LIVE, every participant must have the DLC to join the match.
