Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Achievements

True Son of the Emperor

75
Kill 40,000 enemies in the game (all game modes combined).

Get 40,000 kills. These come from any mode in the game, and a nice chunk will probably be ground out while playing online. However, any spot in the campaign with a wierd boy(the orks that summon more enemies) is a good place to grind this out.

See "Feel My Wrath" and "Firepower" for a location with a nearby checkpoint to grind out this achievement. The end of Chapter 6 and Chapter 8 both have wierd boyz, and the wierd boyz will summon an infinite number of enemies. These are also ideal places to grind out any of the "Kill" achievements you want to get sooner.

The easiest way by far to obtain kills towards True Son of the Emperor however, is by playing the Exterminatus game mode available as free DLC. This game mode pits you up against waves of enemies as you try to complete 20 waves. You can score hundreds of kills in this game mode in a relativly short time frame.

No wonder they called it's been called "Gears of Warhammer" They've even added their own "Seriously". Great.

Damn, looking through the list thinking yeah all do-able until, sigh, seriously warhammer style.

Still a day 1 for me, but there is no way I'll be getting this achievement before September 20th (then this game goes on hold for a while)

@2. That was pointlessly hostile. In one of the videos shown on Inside Xbox, the developer being interviewed said himself that some people have thought it looked similar to Gears of War and gave the and said some are calling it "Gears of Warhammer". It wasn't a nickname that I came up with myself. Unless your comment was aimed at my grammatical error, "they called it's been called ", in which case you're an ass for pointing it out.

Why are you guys bitching about this? Does it say "Kill 40k enemies in MP? No, it says "in the game" which means campaign counts. Give it a day or two and guides will pop up online detailing the best place to grind this out.

@ You got to love how this is a 'Gears ripoff", it doesn't have a cover system even and encourages you to attack to heal rather than hide behind cover. And 40K kills makes sense for Warhammer 40K. (Note that "40K part")

Honestly, I'm for this achievement. Gears is a great game, but
that is for another time. This game I believe shall be just as
great on it's own terms. If you end up enjoying this game to the
point where it is exaggerated, this achievement will come
naturally.

This will not be that hard. 2 playthroughs in campaign as well as tryin to get the multiplayer achievements will net u this easy i reckon. BTW the campaign seems choc full of enemies with hordes of 20-40 orks chargin u at once.

There's a quick scene in a developer diary where they find a giant mech, showing it as if they're going to use it. So if anything (I don't like comparing this to Gears), it'll be like the Brumak sequence and you can just rape everything for quick kills.

Friday, August 12, 2011 @ 06:22:37 AM

@18 that's a titan. I would love it if that was under our control, but there's a flaw with that in lore terms. They were not traditionally driven by a space marine, but instead a trained set of guardsmen (why waste the champions of the emperor driving a titan that a guardsman can drive equally as well). But if that was drive-able, it would be ridiculous, considering the guns on it are normally powerful enough to destroy entire platoons in single shots

@19 I too would also love to control a Titan, but as you correctly say Space Marines don't drive them. But equally the guard don't either. The Adeptus Mechanicus would have a fit is they found Space Marines manhandling one of their most sacred engines, let alone a puny guardsman.

Now I just sound like a crazy, crazy fan.

Roughly 2,000 - 2,500 enemies/kills per campaign playthrough. This achievement will be fairly easy to get, in comparison to Gears. Plus it will have a completely seperate co-op mode. Should be fine.

(Not guessing, I just played the campaign and had to replay part of one chapter to get the achievement for 2,500 kills)

There is a Mission during the campaign (after reactivating the generator) a constant flow of orks will charge forward. They do not attack you and never stop coming. In theory you could stand there for hours shooting...

When there are ork shamans and chaos cultists don't kill them since they will keep on teleporting/warping enemies in for as long as they stay alive. So these parts will be good grinding spots.

Best part I've seen so far is when you go off in another direction from your squad so that you lure the orks away and eventually you'll come up to an area where an ork shaman will come and constantly summon orks, you'll have a jetpack and the thunderhammer at this point so killing orks will be pretty easy.

Tuesday, September 13, 2011 @ 09:24:01 AM

Why is everyone wanting to grind this? ... Don't try to grind this one until you have done all the other achievements. Seriously. By the time you get through the campaign on hard and gain the other achievements for doing x kills with y weapons or going through a campaign mission only using weapon types y and or z you'll probably be close. Not to mention this does involve Multiplayer kills which also have special achievements ....

@ #28 Techmarines wouldn't be able to pilot a titan. it requires MIU (mind
impulse unit) not just as simple as pulling some levers. also requires
a few moderati and hundreds of general serfs. there was a book out in the
early 90's called space marine by ian watson which had space marines piloting
them, but this is not part of the accepted 'fluff' anymore.

Ok! we got it! kill 40k! ... and @#35, you are not the only one who need a life, me too. I was glued at WH40k since the 80's...

As history game (and I don't want to star with the hobby), WH40K comes first. As 3rd person shooting game, Gears come first. And is s shame games workshop don't open their own industry video game company. They have such a nice plot with an infinity of options. They could definetly do it waaaay better than hire a company to do their work.

Abobe all, no life, but love the game!

It will probably be a lot easier with the free DLC with 4 player co-op and HORDE MODE. If it counts (it should). Got the "Kill 2500" cheevo not long before the last boss, so you have to play through it plenty of times to do it that way. I'm level 36 in MP and have about 1200 kills - that doesn't help much either.

If you really want this i suggest part 2 of Chapter 14. Just grab the the auto cannon or whatever and shoot the people that come out of the portals because they come out 4 at a time and there are 3 portals.

there is an easy way to grind this on campaign, on the mission where you need too
activate the turrets in act IV i cannot remember which one, but there is a horde of orks that will constantly attack but actually go for the turrets and not you making it easy to kill them. the orks will continously come and wont stop so it should be good for 40k. kills

Saturday, October 01, 2011 @ 05:35:22 AM

What #33 said. This is the part in Chapter 8 after you split of from Leandros and Sidonus (didn't Garris kill him in ME2?). Shortly after you will find a jump pack Thunder Hammer. Then, shortly after this part you will find an Ork Weirdboy who will spawn and unlimited amount of Orks until you kill him. In the room just before where the Weirdboy hangs out, there are pieces of broken floor on the next floor that serve as great ledges, get on them using the jump pack. Simply stand up there and blast away, Only rocket Nobs (rocket noobs?) will be able to hit you up there.

Saturday, October 01, 2011 @ 07:31:49 AM

Further to my previous post, and for clarification purposes, I'm on about the second time you run into the Wyrdboy/Weirdboy/Shaman/Dikhead/Wotevar. And it would seems that Slugga Boyz nad melee Nobs CAN occassionally hit you from ground level even if you've jumped up to one of the ledges. In. There is a ledge along the left wall, just above an ammo pack, that you can jump on to in the room before where you meet the Wyrdboy/Weirdboy/Dikhed/Wotevar again. From that ledge you can shoot at any Orks in the large room ahead through the entranceway, or wait for a massive mob to build up benath you then hit with frags or Spazma Pistol charged shot.

I don't think this one will be too hard, and yeah is sure gonna be a pain in the ass. Its not as bad as the Gears or War 'Seriously 2.0' cheevo, that ones just ridiculous and to be honest kinda pointless. I gues they ran out of ideas.

Thursday, October 06, 2011 @ 05:44:13 PM

Another good (depending on your perspective) place to grind this out is, as some-one already said, towards the end of chapter 12, where you have top reactivate the sentry guns (Tarantula Turrets). It's good in the sense that once activated, the turrets provide covering fire while an unlimited amount of enemies keep spawning. It's not so good in the sense that you don't know if one of the turrets got the kill rather than you. Also, go to the back corner beyond the generator and the enemies will run straight past you rather than attack.

hey kunnin wayz, love the ME reference in comment 44. haha. and for all involved i would say if you wanna grind a achieve, start grindin the weapons challenges. you only get them in multi and they can be a ... to get. i am going for them legit and i have still got 3 or 4 weapons i havent touched with like half of them completed. considering the 100+ killstreaks needed for at least three of them you are lookin at least a grand right there... and thats assuming you get the three kills in a row every time. oh and they only count as killstreaks for this cheevo if you get them in groups of three. ie: three kills = 1 kill streak; five kills = 1 kill streak; six kills = 2 kill streaks... that's bs!

@52, there is not more to kill on Hard, the enemy spawns don't change at all. They just hurt the player more. Grinding campaign probably isn't the best way to get kills either, it's much slower than something like Exterminatus.

I have a way to get kills in the brand new DLC Exterminatus mode, it can likely be repeated in different arenas but I haven't experimented with it. Anyway, you'll need an Assault Marine with Zeal, Impenetrable and Combat Stims. Choice of pistol is up to you, I prefer the Bolt Pistol, though the spread on the Plasma Pistol's charged shots is nice too.

After gearing up, launch off your starting point and trigger the spawns. Wait for about a minute and allow the Gretchins to run past you, then follow the second group that comes from the right, they're gathering a

Gathering at the IG spawn point around the corner. After they ball up in a nice tight pile, stomp them all dead and kill the Guardsmen. Proceed through the waves, and don't worry about dying because Zeal will save you every time. Just be sure to take out Psykers as soon as they appear, and when taking the capture point move around the outer fringes of it to get the Guardsmen to follow you. Otherwise they'll stand as far away as possible and potshot you, which isn't all that bad but the Lasgun damage does add up eventually. You should pick up 400+ kills after the first 5 waves and a buttload of exp. Then you can quit and repeat those 5 waves for a quick 400+ kills each run. Happy hunting!

Just got it yesterday. Best way to grind is playing campaign on the first level in "Against all odds". There is a point just after you met Second Lieutenant Mira for first time where you've the opportunity to kill a lot of orks with a Bolter turret. Just after you kill the last one of them, quit and restart. There's no way to do it faster than this. There is also a video in youtube.

My experience with this achievement:
4259 kills in multiplayer (with all weapons challenges done);
22955 kills in exterminatus (Kalkys arena 1 waves 1-5 Assault Marine with sword, zeal, impenetrable and frag granade, about 750 kills per play);
12786 kills in campaign in 3 attemps (2 in normal and 1 in hard);
Lots and lots of patience ;)

I just found an easy way to boost this: just enter private exterminatus, go to Kalkys, Arena 1 as an asault marine with a sword, zeal, impenetrable and stimulators (grenades dont do much damage).
You're be able to complete the first arena if you're a bit skilled and some of the second arena. It will be about 1000+ kills per play.

Real easy with Exterminatus. Could even play it solo for an easy 700-1000 kills in 10ish minutes.
