Introduction
Welcome to the road map and guide for Dawn of War II. This game had 73 achievements worth 2000! The first and at time of writing this only game to reach 2000. However to get all 2000 you will need both the original Dawn of War II and the Chaos Rising Expansion. One thing to note some people have been having trouble with unlocking some achievements, some of these seem to be random and some seem to be caused by disconnects during Co-op games. As yet no one seems to know what causes it or what can prevent it.

Step 1: Campaign
For this step I'm going to count both the DOW II and Chaos Rising campaigns as one step. To start with I would not recommend starting on Primarch difficulty you would be better off starting with Sergeant (Normal) difficulty. This is so you get a feel for the game and learn what works where before tackling the really hard stuff.

Some of the campaign achievements are story related and some are for doing certain things certain ways, see individual achievement guides for more info. For the ones that require you to grind campaign score in DOW II, you can keep playing defense missions before the final mission and even if you do the final mission you will keep a save from before it so none of these campaign missions are missable

For Chaos Rising its much the same expect that there are only two missions on the Space Hulk meaning that 'Purist' and 'Forbidden Knowledge' are missable so make sure to do these when you get the chance.

Step 2: Co-Op
Some campaign achievements can only be earned by the host, if you are playing in co-op for this reason you will most likely need two playthroughs. One in on your own and one in co-op. If you can find someone who will play a guest without having you return the favor because they don't want/need the achievements you can avoid this, but co-op is a great way to tackle Primarch so it might be worth your while doing anyway. One thing to note as I said above some people have been having trouble earning Co-op achievements due to disconnects during games. If you're playing and one player disconnects, quit the mission and restart it just to be safe.

Step 3: Multiplayer
Right first off the boosting method described in the guide for the original DOW II multiplayer achievements no longer works. A patch not long after the game's release now means that you can not search head to head with a friend in your party. So you're going to have to do these legit or find another way to boost. If you can get online about 5am-9am GMT you should find it easy enough to get matched head to head with someone with a similar Trueskill but most of the rest of the day it will not work.

The multiplayer is a bit of a grind and the game has a pretty steep learning curve so you'll probably find yourself losing a lot at first but keep with it and you'll learn the ropes.

Step 4: The Last Stand
Chaos Rising introduced two new characters for The Last Stand mode. Last Stand is a co-operative multiplayer mode. As well as these characters there are some achievements for them too. These achievements are pretty hard and quite time consuming, but the mode is pretty fun and if you've gotten this far, you may as well go all the way.

Conclusion
This game is hard to max out. The higher campaign difficulties are a pain, getting past level 20 on last stand is a pain and the multiplayer has a steep learning curve. That said most of the campaign achievements can be earned on Recruit (easy), and most of the mulitplayer achievements only require you to play games not win them so getting a good chunk of that 2000 is only a matter of putting in the time.

[x360a would like to thank Hybridchld for this road map]

There Is Only War25
Terminate 500 Enemy Targets in Dawn of War II. (1)

Terminating a target is the act of killing a single unit in the squad. You need to terminate 500 units, not squads to get this achievement. You will earn this by playing through the story, as you will have thousands of terminated targets by the end of the campaign.

Death from Above10
Kill 20 enemies using Assault Jump in Dawn of War II. (1)

An Assault Jump is when you use the jetpacks on a squad to 'jump' into an area. Your melee squad or Force Commander can equip jetpacks. To unlock this achievement, use your squads and jump into a group of enemies. The impact may or may not kill a handful, so rinse and repeat.

Sweeping Advance10
Kill an enemy who is retreating in Dawn of War II. (2)

A retreating enemy is one who has the yellow "!" above their head. The AI will usually retreat a squad if it has one or two units left and are heavily damaged. Focus fire on the retreating squad and it will easily be killed.

Emperor's Champion10
Kill a boss using only your Force Commander in Dawn of War II.

Easiest done on one of the earlier missions. You have to kill a boss by using only your Force Commander. Your commander is heavily armed and is very hard to kill, so it shouldn't be a problem. Use your tactical marine squad to heal your commander, but make sure they do not attack the boss. You can also use special skills such as Orbital Bombardment to help whittle down the boss' health.

Lightning Assassin10
Kill a boss in less than one minute in Dawn of War II. (3)

Easiest done on one of the later Ork missions, where you hunt down Rippa's lieutenant. This boss is extremely easy to kill, and with all four squads focus-firing on the boss/vehicle you can take it down in ten seconds. Another option is to take out the extremely weak bosses on Defense missions. All enemies with the special health bar at the top are classified as bosses. Those on defensive missions are extremely easy to defeat, as they are no more then a normal unit (Wraithlord, Fire Prism, etc).

Dug In10
Successfully defend 5 Strategic Assets in Dawn of War II. (1)

From time to time you will receive distress signals from the three planets. If you have strategic assets (Communications, Statue, Factory), you will be given defensive missions where you have to hold out against three waves of increasingly difficult forces. Complete five such missions to unlock this.

Massacre10
Complete 10 missions in a row without failing in Dawn of War II.

Failing a mission is when all of your squads are 'unconscious' (ie. the red hexagon is above their heads and must be revived). Simply complete ten missions without failing one. If you are on the verge of defeat, try to exit the game and start again. Doing so will not count as a defeat.

Not one inch10
Defend a province without losing a single generator in Dawn of War II.

During defense missions you are tasked with protecting the three generators that drop near strategic assets. Easiest done on your first defensive mission on Recruit difficulty. The three generators are clustered together on a small plateau, and the defensive area only has two entrances. Your four squads can easily take care of both entrances.

That's Close Enough10
Complete a mission with only ranged weapons in Dawn of War II. (2)

Make sure none of your squads have any melee equipment equipped. This will force all your squads to attack with ranged weapons. Should be done on the first level as all the enemies are easy to repel without having to resort to melee.

Rush 'em10
Complete a mission under five minutes in Dawn of War II.

Try completing one of the earlier missions on Recruit. You will need to finish it in under five minutes, not five or under. Try to have all your squads focus fire on one target to terminate it quickly. Keep moving, and use special attacks to drop the health of bosses.

Purge the Xenos10
Earn a 5 star Fury rating in Dawn of War II.

At the end of a mission you will be given stars based on how well you perform in a mission. To unlock this, simply kill more then 80% of all enemy targets in the mission. Easiest done on your first defensive mission, as you must kill all units to complete the mission.

Feel No Pain10
Earn a 5 star Resilience rating in Dawn of War II.

At the end of a mission you will be given stars based on how well you perform in a mission. To unlock this, have all your squads survive (ie. not go unconscious). Make good use of retreating and reinforcement beacons. Easiest done on your first defensive mission on Recruit as it is a very easy mission and an easy place to defend.

Fleet of Foot10
Earn a 5 star Speed rating in Dawn of War II. (2)

At the end of a mission you will be give stars based on how well you perform in a mission. To unlock this, complete a mission quickly. The amount of time available for five stars varies between missions. Longer missions have a longer time for you to get five stars, shorter missions have a shorter time span. Easiest done on your first defensive mission on Recruit. All three waves will come within the required time and they are easily repelled.

The Book of Honor10
Get 15 stars on one mission in Dawn of War II. (1)

This unlocks after getting five stars on all three mission ratings. Easiest done on your first defensive mission, as 1. You must kill all enemies to complete the mission; 2. The power generators are in a very easy to defend position, with only two entrances which are both easily guarded; 3. All three waves come in a very brief time and can easily be defeated quickly.

Fast Attack15
Gain a second deployment in a single day in Dawn of War II. (1)

When your post-mission experience is calculated, there will be two arrows on the exp bar. If the amount of exp earned surpasses the first bar (from the left), you will be awarded with a second deployment for the day you are on.

Tireless warrior15
Gain a third deployment in a single day in Dawn of War II.

When your post-mission experience is calculated, there will be two arrows on the exp bar. If the amount of exp earned surpasses both bars, you will be awarded with two extra deployments for the day you are on.

Hero of the Imperium25
Attain a Campaign Score of over 30,000 points. Earnable in Single Player and by the host in Co-Op in Dawn of War II.

Your campaign score is determined by how you perform on missions and is shown on the top-middle part of your map screen. 30,000 points can be earned by the end of the campaign on Recruit difficulty, so it won't be much a problem. You can increase the amount of points you get by frequently getting five stars in missions.

Legend25
Attain a Campaign Score of over 90,000 points. Earnable in Single Player and by the host in Co-Op in Dawn of War II.

Your campaign score is determined by how you perform on missions and is shown on the top-middle part of your map screen. 90,000 points can be earned by completing every optional mission available (keep in mind you can go back after completing The Last Stand). You can increase the amount of points you get by frequently getting five stars in missions. There will be an endless amount of Defense missions during the turn you have the opportunity to take your special assignment. Use these and grind away until you get 90,000 points.

In the name of the Emperor20
Own all Strategic Assets in a Campaign. Earnable only in Single Player and by the host in Co-Op in Dawn of War II. (1)

There are seven Communication Relays, eight Imperial Shrines, and six Automated Factories to capture over the three planets. Most maps will have two or no assets. You can only capture one asset per mission, so multiple deployments will be necessary to capture all of the assets. These are usually heavily guarded but when captured provide very helpful bonuses such as temporary invincibility, new weapons, etc.

Elite10
Max out a Combat Discipline on a squad. Earnable in Single Player and by the host in Co-Op in Dawn of War II.

A combat discipline is the line of bars shown on your squad customization screen. Invest in disciplines by spending points earned by leveling up. To get this achievement, simply invest enough points to earn the last trait in any single discipline.

Heavy Support10
Reach Level 20 with one of your Squads. Earnable in Single Player and by the host in Co-Op in Dawn of War II. (1)

During the course of the campaign, your squads will continually level up. They become more powerful, gain new skills, and are allowed access to better weapons. To unlock this achievement, simply get one squad to level 20. This will take many missions. At the end of one campaign, you may have squads at levels around 15. Complete the optional missions available to level them up even further.

Veteran Victor30
100 ranked wins in Dawn of War II. (5)

For this achievement you will have to win 100 ranked matches. Can be boosted by having one partner on the opposing team with a similar TrueSkill rating to you letting you win. This should be boosted with the race-related achievements to save time. You will have to play a total of 200 matches if your intent is to boost. To boost, simply search for a Head on Head ranked match whilst having your boosting partner in your party. Very simple.

In the Army Painter menu, create a custom army and paint it as you wish.

Crush the Enemy40
Complete Campaign on Primarch difficulty. in Dawn of War II

Story related. Unlocked after completing The Last Stand. The difficulty achievements are stackable, so you may choose to do the campaign on Primarch to avoid further playthroughs. Some tips for Primarch difficulty:

  • Use strategic assets and reinforcement relays effectively. If your squad is down even one unit, get them to retreat and reinforce. Use your healing skills effectively, and get as many supply drops as you can.
  • Capture as many strategic assets as possible; this will help in the later battles as the more you hold the more special attacks you can use.
  • You can sell your unwanted armour for extra experience to make your squads more powerful. Invest your points wisely. For example, investing ranged combat for an Assault Squad is unwise, while investing in melee is.
The Warboss 30
Complete "Raid Against the Warboss." in Dawn of War II (2)

The Warboss is the final Ork boss. This mission is available during the turn you can take the mission The Last Stand. The Warboss is extremely hard to defeat, with around 200,000 HP and hordes of reinforcements. Capture the reinforcement relay to the south of the boss area, and constantly alternate attacking squads with squads being reinforced. Use your special attacks and grenades on the boss. Try using Avitus' focus fire and long range to slowly whittle down the Warboss' health. There is no need to aggro the other Ork support units. See The Avatar of Khaine for more information and tactics.

The Avatar of Khaine 30
Complete "The Wailing Doom." in Dawn of War II (2)

The Avatar of Khaine is the final Eldar boss. This mission is available during the turn you can take the mission The Last Stand. The Avatar is also extremely hared to defeat, and has around 290,000 HP. Use your strategic asset to the left, or the reinforcement beacon to the right as a retreating point. The Avatar is very susceptible to plasma fire, so try keeping all your squads on the ledge before the stairs and keep Avitus' fire at the Avatar. You do not even have to destroy the Avatar's support units. Alternate your squads between attacking and retreating.

For both final bosses, try using Orbital Bombardments, artillery strikes, and other 'end-game' special accessories. These can take a chunk of health out of the extremely resistant bosses. Both bosses can take around 20 minutes of fighting each to kill.

Secret Achievements

DLC: Chaos Rising
Cost: $9.99 USD Achievements: 24 Points: 1000

Chaos Lord70
Play 20 Ranked games using Chaos in Chaos Rising.

Simple enough achievement, just play 20 games as Chaos, you don't have to win.

Some basic tips for fighting as Chaos:

Heretics may seem weak but their grenade launchers are great for taking out infantry who are attacking your Victory Points. Chaos Space Marines are a very versatile unit, but given Havoc's excel at ranged combat it's best to use the Marines as melee troops. Give them the tier 2 Mark of Khorne for this, and stick to using the Havoc's at ranged troops.

Beyond that try a few different units and see what works for you. You can try rarely using any units beyond T1, using T2 upgrades instead. But again you don't have to win the games so don't worry too much if you can't get the hang of playing as Chaos.

Blood God25
Win a Ranked game using only Khorne-themed units in Chaos Rising. (1)

First off to get this you need to use the Chaos Lord. Beyond that you can use Heretics and any unit that can be given the mark of Khorne, such as Chaos Space Marines and Havoc's. You can also use Dreadnoughts and Predators as well as the Khorne Deamon units, Bloodletters and Blood Crushers. You can not use Mark of Tzeentch or Nurgle upgrades Plague Marines, or the Great Unclean one.

If you use a neutral unit, one without a mark and do not upgrade before the end of the game you will still get the achievement.

Plague Father25
Win a Ranked game using only Nurgle-themed units in Chaos Rising.

First off to get this you need to use the Plague Champion. Beyond that you can use Heretics and any unit that can be given the mark of Nurgle, which at the moment is just the Predator. You can also use Plague Marines, and the Great Unclean one. You can not use Mark of Tzeentch or Khorne, Bloodletters or Blood Crushers

If you use a neutral unit, one without a mark and do not upgrade before the end of the game you will still get the achievement.

This one is harder to get without boosting than the others, as you have a lot less options in Tier one. However if you use you shrines well to heal your units it's not too hard. This one would be easier to get in a team game as your team mates can make up for your limited unit choice and you can support them with your shrines.

Bringer of Change25
Win a Ranked game using only Tzeentch-themed units in Chaos Rising.

To get this you need to use the Chaos Sorcerer. Beyond that you can use Heretics and any unit that can be given the mark of Tzeentch, such as Chaos Space Marines and Havoc's. You can also use Dreadnoughts and Predators. You can not use Mark of Khorne or Nurgle upgrades or Plague Marines, Bloodletters, Blood Crushers or the Great Unclean one.

If you use a neutral unit, one without a mark and do not upgrade before the end of the game you will still get the achievement.

Chaos Undivided25
Win a Ranked Team Battle with each Chaos hero on the team in Chaos Rising. (3)

To get this you need to win a 3v3 game with one player as the Chaos Lord, one as the Plague Champion and one as the Chaos Sorcerer. You can use any units you like so you don't have to worry about keeping to your commanders theme.

This is really hard to boost as its nigh on impossible to be matched with another group you hope to boost with. You're unlikely to randomly get matched with players using the other two commanders; so your best bet is to get two friends and play together, with enough practice you will win a game eventually.

King Of The Hill50
Win 10 online Free for All matches in Chaos Rising. (1)

Free For All is a new game type introduced in Chaos Rising. At the moment there is no ranked version so its only available in custom games. To get this you must win 10 public games against human players, setting all other slots of computer players will not count.

To win you must take and hold victory points but unlike standard games you will be up against up to 5 other players fighting over seven victory points. You can close all bar one slot so you're only playing against one other person and if necessary you can boost with a friend this way.

Manipulator25
Score 500,000 in The Last Stand with the Hive Tyrant or Sorcerer in Chaos Rising.

The Last Stand was introduced in October 2009 and updated in Chaos Rising to include these two new commanders. This is basically a survival mode where you and two other commanders have to hold off against waves of enemies. Getting this isn't that hard just make sure you keep hold of the control points and that your team mates stay alive. This will keep your score multiplier up and make this pretty easy.

It's possible to get the score by wave 9. This may take a bit of practice but you'll easily get it going for the other two last stand achievements.

Overlord60
Reach level 20 in The Last Stand with the Hive Tyrant or Sorcerer in Chaos Rising.

In Last Stand you get EXP based on what wave you reach, to get this achievement you need to get either the Hive Tyrant or Sorcerer to level 20 which is the highest level. This is going to be a grind but keep playing and you will get it eventually. You need a total of 124,770 EXP to reach level 20.

Usurper60
Beat wave 20 in The Last Stand with the Hive Tyrant or Sorcerer in Chaos Rising. (2)

This is probably the hardest achievement in the game! Getting to wave 20 is not easy and then beating it is much harder. You will need 3 really good players, good team work, high level characters and luck to get this. The official DOWII community has a Last Stand forum with some good info. You can find it here.

The Emperor's Justice20
Defeat the Traitor Guardsmen on Aurelia in Chaos Rising.

Story related and can not be missed.

Simply complete the first level on any difficulty and this will pop.

The Enemy Exposed50
Defeat the true enemy attacking Angel Forge in Chaos Rising. (1)

Story related and can not be missed.

Simply complete the third level on any difficulty and this will pop.

The Challenge Answered50
Answer the enemy commander's challenge on Aurelia in Chaos Rising.

Story related and can not be missed.

Simply beat Arighast on any difficulty and this will pop.

Enemy of Chaos70
Complete campaign on Recruit Difficulty or harder in Chaos Rising.

Finish the campaign on Recruit or higher. See "End of Chaos" for more info.

Conqueror of Chaos70
Complete campaign on Sergeant Difficulty or harder in Chaos Rising.

Finish the campaign on Sergeant or higher. See "End of Chaos" for more info.

Bane of Chaos70
Complete campaign on Captain Difficult or harder in Chaos Rising.

Finish the campaign on Captain or higher. See "End of Chaos" for more info.

End of Chaos70
Complete campaign on Primarch Difficulty in Chaos Rising.

These four achievement are all related to finishing the game on the various difficulties. Primarch is hard! Perhaps easier than Primarch in the original campaign, the new gear and skills can help a lot. So if you can finish the main campaign on Primarch you shouldn't have too many problems with this. See "Crush The Enemy" for general tips on Primarch.

Be corrupt! The extra skills and gear you get for being corrupt makes the game easier.

Common Foe25
Complete 1 Chaos Rising mission in Co-Op.

Simply complete any mission in Co-op and both players will get this achievement.

Duty is its own Reward50
Complete 6 Chaos Rising missions as a GUEST in Co-Op. (6)

Unlike Common Foe you must be the guest to get this one. Have a friend invite you to a game and play 6 missions and you'll get this. Once done invite the friend to a game and do the same for them.

Bad Example25
Get any squad to maximum Corruption in Chaos Rising. Not available to guests.

There are a few ways to gain corruption, using corrupted items, taking actions that cause harm to allies, using corruption based abilities and not deploying certain characters on certain missions.

To max it out you need 24 corruption points which should be easy to get before the end of the campaign. You only need to get this for one squad and it can be any squad or character.

As stated this is not available to guests, so if you're playing co-op and your friend is hosting you will not this achievement.

Relentless25
Reach level 30 with any campaign squad in Chaos Rising. Not available to guests.

You level up much like in the original campaign except this time you can reach level 30. You should be able to get this easily before the end of campaign, but if you having trouble there are items that add leveled characters, which you can pick up through out the game. You can also gain EXP from disposing of unwanted items.

As stated this is not available to guests, so if your playing co-op and your friend is hosting you will not this achievement.

Forbidden Knowledge10
Unlock the dark secrets of "The Fate of Galan" in Chaos Rising.

There are two missions on the Space Hulk. The first one is mandatory but the second one is optional. You have 3 days to do the second one after doing the first. In the second you have to recover Galen's log. After the mission the log is in your inventory as an expendable item. When you dispose of it you get message in your mission log and this achievement.

One thing, disposing of the log gives all squads corruption so if you want to be pure and have a redeeming item hold onto it until you get this.

Purist50
Complete a mission on the Space Hulk with 4 Terminators in Chaos Rising.

Assuming you collected all three sets of Terminator Armour from the original campaign you will start with the three of them but they will be unusable until you pick up a Techmarine. Getting a Techmarine and having him repair your gear is story related and can not be missed. It also happens before you reach the Space Hulk so don't worry about that.

To get a fourth set of Armour there are a couple of side missions you can do it on. The first of these is just after the battle of Angel Forge where you have to fight Eldar on Typhon. It's not an easy mission as you have to fight an Avatar, but if you use turrets and the fall back point just behind where you fight it, the battle isn't too bad.

Once you have four sets of Terminator Armour equip your force commander, Tarkus, Avitus and Thaddeus with them and play one of the two Space Hulk missions and this should unlock at the end.

Domination25
Hold 5+ victory points at once in an online Free for All in Chaos Rising. (5)

This one is very hard to get without boosting, but thankfully its easily boosted. What you have to do is go into a public Free For All match and hold 5 victory points at once. There are 7 on each FFA map but with 5 other players its a tough achievement.

However much like King of the Hill you only need one other player to set up a matched and boost so this is probably your best bet.

Secret Achievements
Taint Your Wagon25
Destroy a Wartrukk with a Noxious Cloud during a Ranked game in Chaos Rising. (5)

This is another hard one to get, and its not easy to boost. First off, what you have to do is use the Plague Champion against any Ork commander. Then you have to build up 200 of your faction resource so that you can use the Noxious Cloud ability. The problem is that the cloud will do very little damage to the Wartrukk so it has to be nearly dead when you use the ability.

The best time to use it is when the Trukk's health is below 75, cast the cloud and tell all your units to fall back that way they won't shoot it. If you can get into a head to head match with a friend it's not that hard to boost, but there are only certain times of the day when you have any chance of getting matched with a friend.
