Introduction
Welcome to Wipeout: In the Zone! This game is based off of ABC's game show Wipeout. Contestants compete against each other in a giant obstacle course to win a prize of $50,000. This game is very similar to the show and even has the same hosts in the game announcing as you play. If you are familiar with and enjoyed the free arcade game Doritos Crash Course then you will probably like this game as it is practically the same concept. The Kinect sensor works very well with the game overall but it requires you to be very active so be prepared, you will most likely sweat a lot!

Step One: Play Through the Game
Right when you first start up the game on the main menu select "Practice", then choose the avatar you want to use, then for the difficulty select "Tryouts". It will then ask you to choose your course, select "Wipeout Zone Tryouts". You can get the achievements Sack of Potatoes, Now Just Sign the Waiver, So Close, The Moonwalk, and Cardio Workout all on this course. Now once you have finished that just play through all of the episodes in the game. Try to get good enough times on each episode for each of the Gold Medal achievements to avoid unnecessary replays. You will probably need to practice on some of the tougher ones though so don't expect to get all of them on your first try. Also read through the guide to see where the best place to get each achievement is. Most of them you can get in areas throughout the episodes, so once again, pay attention to the achievements to avoid unnecessary replays of an episode.

Multiplayer
There are six achievements that require you to have other players to play with you. These are not online so don't fret. Some of them require you to be the only male character/female character, but you can select a character of the appropriate sex before you start the game to get those achievements. You may also be able to fool the kinect sensor into having you playing as all of the characters, but it could be tough. Complete all six of the multiplayer achievements for a total of 95. The achievements are Nemeses, You Da Man, Girl Power, You Hit a Girl?!?, Firing Squad, and Fun for the Whole Family. You will need three controllers for Firing Squad so make sure you have them. A guitar controller will also work, you just need to be able to press .

Mopping Up
Once you finish all the episodes you will probably still have a few achievement you didnt quite get a long the way. Just follow the guide to see how to get the rest of your achievements. A lot of them are easier to do in practice mode so you don't need to play through the entire episode. Refer to the guide below for help on specific achievements.

Conclusion
Overall the game only has a few achievements that are hard, and could be frustrating. It helps to be in shape if your trying to get the full 1000. Anyways, the game is fun and if you got the full 1000 then congratulations, that's a 1000 to be proud of!

So Close30
Suffered just one wipeout on the last obstacle of a course.

This achievement can be gotten at any of the courses but an easy way to do it is from the main menu select "practice", then choose the avatar you want to use, then for the difficulty select "tryouts". It will then ask you to choose your course, select "Wipeout zone Tryouts". Then play through this course without getting any wipeouts until you get to the balance beam. Once at the balance beam get so off balance that you fall off. Once you fall off the achievement will unlock. You will probably get this by just playing through the game.

Making Fun of Myself20
Finished Episode 5 as John Henson or John Anderson.

Once you unlock these characters, play on episode 5. When it asks you which character you want to be just select either one of them and finish the episode. The achievement will unlock once you have completed it.

Hopscotch30
Earned a bonus of 30 seconds or more on the Sweeper.

This one can be challenging but if your good at the game you shouldn't have to much of a issue. First of all the sweeper is in round 2 of episodes 1, 4, and 7. It is when everyone is on a platform and you need to jump and crouch to avoid getting kicked off. You wont have time to look at your time so just keep going until you lose. You need to jump and crouch when the bars turn green. It will get very fast at around the 20 second mark so your going to need to stay focused until you get 30.

Here is a video for everyone to get an idea of what you need to do. He doesn't get the achievement in the video so this is just to make sure everyone understands what the sweeper is and what to do.

That Wasn't an Obstacle5
Wiped out within the first 5 seconds. (1)

The only hard part about this is finding which course to use. The one I used was course one of episode two where I got knocked off at around four seconds. Just run forward to the first obstacle and get knocked off before the timer hits five seconds.

That’s Gotta Hurt15
Got flung forward by a Hammer.

This achievement is pretty tricky for how easy it sounds. You cant just use any ordinary hammer, or at least it wouldn't unlock for me that way. The only way I could do this was on practice mode on easy difficulty, Wipeout Zone B. An early obstacle are these hammers that slap down on top of you, get hit by one and it might pick you up and sling you back. The achievement will unlock after that. If it doesn't sling you back, try again.

Nemeses25
Beaten John Anderson as John Henson in 2-player multiplayer, or vice versa.

In a 2-player game have one player be John Henson and the other players be John Anderson. Make sure the person with the account you want the achievement on wins. You can also play as both players, if it recognizes you then just select "Not Me". You can then sign into a different account.

You Da Man15
Won a 4-player multiplayer episode as the only male character. (1)

During a 4-player session make sure each character is a female except for yours. You can select a character so it doesn't matter what sex you are, make sure you win as the only male character.

You Hit a Girl?!?5
Was blasted as a female character.

Play as a female character during a multiplayer game. At certain checkpoints during the game you will be allowed to blast your opponent. While it is your turn, make sure you get blasted at least once. You do this by pressing on your controller.

Girl Power15
Won a 4-player multiplayer episode as the only female character.

During a 4-player session make sure each character is a male except for yours. You can select a character so it doesn't matter what sex you are, make sure you win as the only female character.

Karmic Justice5
Got flung into the background as Matt Kunitz.

The best place to get this is in practice mode, easy difficulty, Wipeout zone B. One of the early obstacles are hammers that will come at you and sling you back. Once you get hit it might sling you back, if it doesn't just retry, it will after a few tries.

Model Behaviour15
Completed a Mimic Board as Jill Wagner.

Once you unlock Jill Wagner play as her on any episode. They all have at least one Mimic Board in them, just complete the Mimic Board as her and the achievement will unlock.

Boys Smell20
Trudged through mud as a male character for 10 seconds.

There is a huge mud pit in episode three during the qualifier round. Once you get to it just backpedal from the front all the way to the back, you will get this achievement while doing that.

Where's the Pole?30
Crossed the Big Balls without wiping out.

Whenever you see the Big Balls you need to cross them without falling off at all. It might take a little practice but shouldn't be to much to a problem. Big Balls are in pretty much in every episode on qualifier round so you should not have any problems finding them. They first make a showing in course one, episode one. You will probably get this by just playing through the game. Remember leaning while in the air provides air control, use it to your advantage.

Cardio Workout25
Ran on a Treadmill for 45 seconds.

This one will really tire you out. The best place I found to get it is from the main menu select "practice", then choose the avatar you want to use, then for the difficulty select "tryouts". It will then ask you to choose your course, select "Wipeout Zone Tryouts". Once you get on a treadmill that is asking you to duck under the bars just keep running and you will stay in one place as long as you dont crouch under the bars. You need to make sure you are running at full speed because if your character starts walking/jogging the time will restart. Run in place as fast as you can until it unlocks.

The Moonwalk15
Backpedaled for 15 seconds.

This one can be got in numerous places but the easiest one I found is going from the main menu select "practice", then choose the avatar you want to use, then for the difficulty select "tryouts". It will then ask you to choose your course, select "Wipeout Zone Tryouts". Keep going until you are on treadmill moving forward wanting you to duck under the bars. Dont crouch and just start backpedaling for 15 seconds on the treadmill. It might unlock a little later than 15 seconds so just keep backpedaling for 20 or 25 seconds.

Yoga Master25
Balanced for 15 seconds. (2)

This achievement is extremely frustrating. The best place to get this is in Practice mode on the course 6 qualifier. At the end of this course is a really long beam long enough for you to be able to stay on for 15 seconds. Now you just need to walk really slow, long enough so you can be on the beam for 15 seconds. Do not get hit at all by the sweeper arms coming up because it needs to b uninterrupted. You can teeter back and forth but make sure you dont fall off and you keep moving. If you are reaching the end without the achievement unlocking then fall off and try again.

Home Run30
Finished Bruiseball without touching any mud or water.

Bruiseball is the eliminator round during episodes 2, 5,and 8. During Bruiseball you need to complete it without touching any mud or water. This will be very tough so you could do this is practice mode to speed it up. Just keep practicing and eventually you will get it. There isn't really any tip I can give you so just try your best.

Here is video showing what Bruiseball is, he doesn't get the achievement in the video so this is just so you can see what bruiseball is in case you didn't know.

Sack of Potatoes15
Got Motivated and survived.

This is pretty easy and can be done in multiple area but the easiest one for me was from the main menu select "practice", then choose the avatar you want to use, then for the difficulty select "tryouts". It will then ask you to choose your course, select "Wipeout zone Tryouts". On the course you run on you will eventually have to pump up a platform to the next level of the course. Just keep on pumping up past where you need to get off and the motivator will hit you down. You will probably get this just by playing the game.

Shafted15
Got hit by the Crankshaft and survived. (1)

This one is lucky and you will probably get it just by playing through the game. The Crankshaft is a rotating thing that look like the picture in the link below. The first one you will see is in the final course of episode one. If you get hit by the very end piece and it knocks you forward into the next area then you will get the achievement.

This is a picture of the Crankshaft if you don't know what it is.

I Like Big Balls25
Bounced between the Mega Big Balls 10 times and loved it. (6)

During the final course in episode two there are two mega big balls just bounce back and forth in between the balls 10 times and you will unlock the achievement.

Ain't Got That Swing25
Swung from Rope to Rope 5 times without falling.

Episode five is the best place to get this. During the first round on Episode five there are four ropes to swing on. You are going to want to jump to the first rope, then to the second, then back to the first rope, then finish the rest of the ropes without falling off. If you fall you will land on the big balls, just fly off into the water and try again.

Pump You Up25
Pumped a Pump 20 times in 10 seconds. Whew!

This one is tricky. There are many pumps throughout the game, but if you can't find one there is one during the Wipeout Zone in episode eight. Anyways, there are two good ways that people have unlocked this achievement, just try whichever one works the best for you:

  1. Lock you elbows slightly out from your sides and swing your hands from shoulder height down quickly. Adjust the speed of your swings and timing with the avatar. It does not matter if the pump is no longer moving, you might just be going to fast for the game.
  2. Go to any pump, and swing both arms around in front of you in a windmill fashion. Try squatting if you need to. You should get about two full rotations every second. Your hands will tingle when you are doing it right.

Primetime Special55

ust play through all nine episodes and the achievement will unlock. These are not tough to finish, it's only tough to get a good time.

Syndication40
Finished all the Easy episodes.

Refer to Primetime Special.

Episode 9 Gold25
Finished Episode 9 with a time of 3:30.000 or better.

For all of the achievements like this you just need to have your final time for the episode under the time the achievement requires, the ones at the beginning are easy but obviously they get harder. You will probably have to practice on a lot of the episodes especially the hard episodes to get achievement.

Some tips:

  • It helps to watch the intro so you can see exactly which obstacles are in each course before you are playing on it.
  • If you are struggling, use practice mode and just keep playing the course you are struggling on to save the hassle of playing through the entire episode.
  • On the harder episodes try to aim for about 1:20 seconds or better on the first course, 45 seconds or better on the second, that way you not have to rush on the final course since it has hardest obstacles.
  • On the harder Wipeout Zone courses there are obstacles where you will be on a conveyor belt and a spider-like sweeper will be twirling around the conveyor belt with small ones inside of the larger ones. This is hard obstacle, I found the best way to do it is to jump throughout the entire time on the conveyor belt.
  • Use coins to your advantage! You will have a really hard time getting the harder episodes in under 3:30 if you don't get a majority of the -5 second coins.
Now Just Sign the Waiver5
Passed the Tryouts.

From the main menu select "practice", then choose the avatar you want to use, then for the difficulty select "tryouts". It will then ask you to choose your course, select "Wipeout zone Tryouts". Just play through that course and once you complete it with a good enough time the achievement will unlock.

Practice Makes Better15
Finished Bruiseball or Medieval Wipealot 4 times in a Practice session.

For Bruiseball select Practice from the main menu, choose your character, medium difficulty and if you unlocked it then choose it, complete it, and repeat the process 3 more times.

For Medieval Wipealot do the same thing but for the difficulty select hard. If you unlocked it, complete it and repeat the process 3 more times.

Practice Makes Perfect16
Finished any Wipeout Zone 5 times in a Practice session.

From the main menu select "Practice", then choose a character, and for your difficulty select easy. Now choose any course that has "Wipeout Zone" in it beat that course, go back to the main menu and do the same thing 4 more times. You could select a harder difficulty but the easy courses are obviously more convenient.

Practice Makes Good14
Finished any Qualifier 3 times in a Practice session. (2)

From the main menu select "Practice", then choose a character, and for your difficulty select easy. Now choose any course that ends in "Qualifier" beat that course, go back to the main menu and do the same thing 2 more times. You could select a harder difficulty but the easy courses are obviously more convenient.

Fun for the Whole Family20
Each player was blasted at least once in a 4-player game.

Set-up a four-player multiplayer game, certain obstacles allow blasters to be used, it will tell you which ones after certain checkpoints. Make sure each person gets blasted at least one time during the episode and the achievement will unlock. You can blast people by pressing .

Firing Squad15
Got hit by 3 blaster shots simultaneously.

Choose a multiplayer, four-person game on any episode. You can be all 4 people, just select "not me" at the top of your screen if it recognizes you. Sign in 3 controllers. Now at certain checkpoints a notification may come up that says Blasters are enabled. Stand still and press on all three controllers at the right time so that way all of the water balloons hit at the same time. Once all three water balloons hit the avatar simultaneously the achievement will unlock.

Epic Win55
Finished a Hard Wipeout Zone without wiping out once.

This is a tough achievement. You should probably do this is practice mode via the main menu. Select hard difficulty and play on a Wipeout Zone course. Complete the course without wiping out once and the achievement is yours. The easiest one is the Wipeout Zone E (Episode 7). Just keep practicing until you get it.

Episode 1 Gold15
Finished Episode 1 with a time of 4:30.000 or better.

Refer to Episode 9 Gold.

Episode 2 Gold15
Finished Episode 2 with a time of 4:30.000 or better.

Refer to Episode 9 Gold.

Way Ahead of the Curve55
Finished the game with an average time of 4:00.000 per episode or better. Way to go! (2)

You need to be able to average all your times together for all nine episodes and have it equal less than 4:00.000. If you can do really well on all of the easy episodes and decent of the rest of them then you should be able to get this achievement. Remember this is an average time so you don't need to have all episodes under 4:00.000. This should unlock by just getting the gold medal achievements for all the episodes.

Epic Fail5
Wiped out on every obstacle of a Wipeout Zone.

The Wipeout Zone is the final course in an episode, when you play on it just make your you wipe out on every single obstacle.

Ahead of the Curve40
Finished the game with an average time of 5:00.000 per episode or better. Nice job!

Refer to Way Ahead of the Curve.
