Introduction:
The original game comes with 400 that is composed of a tutorial, a campaign, puzzles, and a bit of multiplayer. There are currently three DLC packs available, but only the Mars Pack has achievements for an additional 50 . As with other Worms games, this is a comedic strategy game that ultimately is modeled on a basic physics engine that requires you to account for the effects of gravity, the wind, and your environment when shooting at the enemy, along with a bit of platforming.
If you are aiming for all 450, download the Mars Pack DLC before starting up the game for the most efficient approach.
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
When you first start the game you are required to go through an introductory tutorial in which you will unlock "Boom Boom". You are not able to access the main menu in the game until you complete this, so this should be the first achievement everyone unlocks. The campaign and puzzles are all possible to complete immediately after the tutorial due to a cheat code Team 17 (the developers) added to the game as an apology for some of the bugs that were included in the original release. To activate the cheat code, from the Main Menu select Help & Options, scroll down to credits, then press , , . At this point you will need to complete any single level. At the end of the level all achievements related to the campaign levels and puzzle levels will unlock: "Fast Learner", "The Trooper", "One for the Money", "Upstairs Wares", and "Worm Winner". If you have the Mars Pack DLC, you will also unlock "Strife on Mars".
Next, you will need to create a custom game type that you will use to unlock most of the achievements. From the Main Menu, choose Customisation and then Edit Game Settings. Choose Deathmatch, choose Destruction, then choose Edit Name and pick a memorable name such as "Achievements". Next, select Weapon Options. Using the , change the ammo levels for everything to infinity. The ammo level is displayed in the upper left corner of each square in the weapon panel. The values range from 0-9 and infinity. There are a few items that don't offer infinity as a choice, so set those to the maximum available (such as the girder, which can only go up to four). On the same screen, you will notice that some of the weapons also have a number listed in parentheses in the lower right corner. That is the delay before they are available, and you will want to press repeatedly until that value disappears. Press to go back to the Edit Game Settings menu, and choose Game Options and change Worm Health to 50, Sudden Death to None, Rope Swings to infinity, Worm Select to On, Teleport In to On and Girder Restriction to Off. Press to go back to the Edit Game Settings menu and choose Object Options. Change Weapon Drop Utility Drop, Health Drop to 90%, Coin Drop to 0%, Mines to none, and then press twice. You will be prompted to save, so press for yes.
Many of the achievements can be completed in local Versus matches using a clone of your team. A clone uses the same formation as yours, and is controlled by your same controller. This is intended for pass and play, but is excellent for earning achievements as well. To set up a local Versus match with a clone, from the Main Menu choose Versus, your game mode (typically DeathMatch unless you are working on a Forts achievement), and then change the Game Settings to the Achievements setting you created above. Next, select Add Player and the selection will default to "Clone of [your gamertag]". Choose this, press again to acknowledge that it will use your same controller, and then start the match.
Multiplayer:
There are eight achievements that must be done in online multiplayer. However, many of the other achievements can be done in multiplayer with a partner who sets you up for success. Of the multiplayer achievements, none should pose a particular challenge other than "Social Butterfly" which requires you complete a multiplayer game with 20 unique gamertags.
Before starting multiplayer, ensure that you have purchased at least one of each worm type (other than Soldier which you start with four of) and use the Customisation menu to create a formation with one of each. If you then choose it, you can set it to be your default formation. This will enable your multiplayer partner to unlock the various achievements requiring kills of each type of worm.
Mop-Up:
There are a few achievements that are likely to come naturally while playing towards other goals, but if you are missing any at this point the guide will point out how to earn each of your remaining situational achievements, such as "Wrecking Ball".
Abbreviated Walkthrough:
As with the primary game, the cheat enabled by Turn 17 will unlock the campaign achievement, "Strife on Mars". If you did not have the DLC installed when you unlocked the primary game achievements, you will need to enter the cheat code again and then complete any campaign level. It does not have to be a Mars Pack level, any level works. At that point all you have left are five games to win online while the Mars theme is active, and then using the special weapons/powers in a game to complete the other three achievements along the way. See the guide for specific details.
Conclusion:
Due to the cheat added by Turn 17, this is the easiest Worms game available, and the only challenges may be finding 20 people to unlock "Social Butterfly". Overall it is a reasonably fast and simple 450.
