I used to love this game on the PC when I was young. Much better than that crappy version they did for XBLA. I hope its the same.

Was a suprise to see this yesterday but I won't be paying £2.29 for a 30yr old game when its the same price for most new titles!

Will wait until it's dotw!

Some classics need to stay dead.

Thinking about it, it may not be the same version as I played years ago. I played the version by Sierra :(

That "pacifist" achievement for not killing anything really highlights the height of imagination in this game...

Too bad the xbla version wasn't the original like this, instead of an updated version.

You know everyone, Lode Runner is nearly a 30 year old franchise that released on many different computer systems and most of the various ports were developed by various companies (Hudson developed the NES port, and the Bomberman character was first featured as an enemy in said port). Konami went and ripped it off and expanded upon Lode Runner with its King's Valley series (which in turn was expanded upon in recent indie gem La-Mulana).

To say you want the 'original' version when there are literally dozens of different versions all released within a year's time between 1983 and's like saying you want the original version of Tetris. Chances are, you never played the original, but one of the various ports licensed out to various publishers.

I say all this to make a simple point: the XBLA Lode Runner does nothing to betray the franchise's roots. In fact, aside from the obvious audio/visual updates and a few new block types, the game is about as pure to the original's concept as could possibly be, including the original's level editor. I'm not sure why you guys don't seem to like it aside from nostalgia goggles clouding your vision.

As for the WP7 version, it has 150 levels but no level editor. For $3, that's not a bad deal. Smart phones have devalued games, and I personally find it laughable that someone won't buy a smart phone game if it's more than 99 cents. You might as well refuse to buy any games, since some of them are free. What a rip off!

@7 The visual updates of the xbl version were exactly what ruined that game for me. I literally can't play that game without getting sick, the way the border/screen moves (for no reason) is very disorienting.
