yup. I just noticed the achievements popped up like an 1 hour or 2 ago while I was going for my last achievement in Dead Space 3. At least now I know how to submit them now.

Hopefully the secret achievements are as clever as the main ones.
Glad this is out soon. I tend to tear through games so I want the DLC ASAP, not 4-6 months down the line.

I might buy this if it releases before Bioshock infinite (which it should, if its out in March). If not, DS3 is getting traded, and I'll just pick up the DLC when its DotW.

@13 there is a chart showing that the longer you hold off on releasing dlc the less sales it gets (outside of games like cod or halo) and if you release it to early *at launch* people get upset so the timeframe they have is perfect its right when people are finishing the game or getting bored of it and they release a add on that's most likely 3-5 hours long that makes them a bit more money on the product

Hey interested my buddie have updated with his Gamescore from 50 to 58 achievements in Dead Space 3 (he from USA). But my Gamerscore didn't update for my Dead Space 3 (I am in UK yah). Anyone know why? maybe DLC release first in USA before UK something?

@16 In this case I agree. The game we got on disc was complete. This will be true DLC like Severed. But unfortunately this is the exception. Most DLC out a month after release is either removed for later sale or the rest of a game which was released unfinished.

@2,8, 26
what people seem to forget is develoing dlc starts well before the full game is finished, when concept artist's finish there work they don't sit around for 2 years before starting again, they move on to the next thing whether it be dlc or a new game, when the audio for the game is complete they do the audio for the dlc.
the bit that takes longest is testing, when the testing for the main game is done a the testers move onto the dlc straight away before the game is even released.

@27 If it's "well before the full game is finished" it's not DLC. Instead of taking 2 years to develop and properly test a complete game, they'll now take 1 year to rush out an unfinished game riddled with bugs. Then, when they get around to finishing it,they'll charge us more money and act like they've done us a favor. And, again, it's not DLC if it's finished and testers are working on it before the game is even released. Stop defending this bullshit.

@24 Surely the quality is more important than some M$ Points to Gamerscore ratio.

Scenario:

Shivering Isles - 1200 M$ points - No Gamerscore. Or...
Horse Armor - 1200 M$ points - 250 Gamerscore.

What do ya do...? Go.

@30 In this case the upcoming AC3 DLC and the upcoming DC3 DLC has the same quality for me.

I played and completed both games, and i enjoyed DS3 much more than AC3.
AC3 DLC = 800 MS Points = Single Player DLC = 90 GS
DS3 DLC = 800 MS Points = Single Player DLC = 250 GS

So yes DS3 DLC is much more worth for me than AC3 DLC. And i am an achievement hunter like many people here, so thats one another reason for me, why DS3 DLC is much more worth for me. I am just more interested in DS3.

@29 You can say its not DLC as much as you want, doesn't change the fact it is.
If the DLC they release was started on alongside the main game, then its fair enough to say the devs are pulling some shit there and charging for stuff they should have shipped with the game.
But like 27 said, do you honestly think game devs will just sit there twiddling their thumbs until their game gets released?
Rather than waste a couple of months doing absolutely nothing they will get started on their next project, retail game or downloadable content, like 27 said.
Just because you don't like the fact there is DLC coming out so soon after release doesn't mean its bullshit. Capcom pull this crap like charging for on disc content a lot, but just cause a dev is making DLC for a game before its release doesn't mean it was rushed content or stuff taken from the main game so they can charge extra, you need to take your head out of your arse.

OT: Can't wait for this! Still need to finish my Classic and Survival runs though!

@33 no need to explain I understand perfectly, you're a moron

Development of dead space 2 ceased almost exactly 2 years ago, a few weeks before severed was released.
However concept development of it ceased around 3-4 years ago, this is when dead space 3's development began.
Now when it comes to the dlc they could have included it with the game yes, however the game went gold at the end of last year, meaning nothing could be changed about the game. therefore to include the dlc would have delayed the games release by 3 months till april.
The amount of time it takes to create and develop a game is only increasing as the complexity and size of them also does, they are not rushed you just don't see all the behind the scenes work that goes into them since the announcement and release are usually around a year apart. Why are the amount of bugs increasing, once again this comes down to the complexity of the games, the larger the games the more room there is for error, and if you employ 1000 games testers working solidly for a year to try and find flaws, but then your game is bought by 1million people, the public will have managed to have test 3 times as much in 1 day as the testers did all year hence what are actually rare bugs are easily found.
If you would like a game without lots of bugs i suggest you stick to pong.

would expect any less from a game in 2013 ... so far this year is worse than 2012. already aliens and dead space sucks ... wonder if bioshock or GTA will live upto their reputations ... I hope so.

I can't believe people moan about micro transactions ,dlc that has been developed along side the game and the pushed out so soon is far more of a threat to gaming.I totally get why companies do it at the same time and the reasons they need to get the dlc out reasonably soon after a games release,I just think that more and more devs will put integral bits of a Game to one side to make a cheap buck selling it later as dlc.(like the dinobots in the last transformer game.everyone wanted them, so they charged extra )

I'm going to make an assumption that this DLC will be extremely short. Took me 44 minutes to complete dead space 2 DLC including all achievements. I would love to see them come out with a DLC thats longer and gets me into another mini-story line. Hell I would have no problem paying more just for something they put their time into, making better more challenging achievements, Making it a third or fourth the length of the actual game.

I wouldn't mind an Ellie Campaign or being one of Danik's soldiers fighting to stop Isaac.

I've seen the secret achievements and it seems that you have to at lease play the DLC twice, because during the DLC you get a choice and each choice that you make nets you an achievement.

The reason some games have 90GS or 125GS for DLC and some have the full 250GS for one DLC is because developers aren't allowed to put out more than 250GS for DLC per quarter. I thought this was common knowledge? It's some ridiculous MS rule thats been imposed upoon by developers so some games now have the 250GS split into different DLC's so they can release more DLC quicker. Maybe so its MS can choke more money out of us...who knows.

That's why we are getting a second DLC for AC3 totalling 250GS if you include the last DLC, but both will have been in the same quarter.

Obviously with DS3 there won't be anymore DLC this quarter for it (or maybe Awakened will be the only DLC?) which is why its the full 250GS.

They have made exceptions to this rule like RE6 but its very rare.

Don't like it? Don't buy it. I'm in agreement that dlc this quick after the release is obv more about money than gamer enjoyment, otherwise it would be free! So you know what? I don't buy much dlc. My 100% isn't as high as it could be, but my Xbox hasn't blown up because of it!

The game is a piece of cake solo or coop. Playing casual is too easy its boring, hard or impossible diffucultys are like normal difficulty. I thought universal ammo is quality idea bit gutted i gotta wait for dlc as ive 1000g it allready and have nothing left to do with it. Im geyting dead space 2 again as i never completed hardcore mode that really was a challenge.
