God damn. They've really been beating these XCOM games to death lately.

#2 Hi maybe The Bureau it is rip off for XCOM series but XCOM strategy is great game from last year and sales sold much better than The Bureau. So The Bureau studios already closed down because of sales badly and 2K Games couldn't cope so they have no choice to closed down 2K Marin. :)

Strategy games might not my taste of genre but still XCOM strategy game is great so expect this one new will be same great.

My friend I knew he will getting this one.

It seems that they are same achievements that is listed on Steam and it nice to know that if I get this version of the game that I don't have to beat it at least five times to get all of them.

@2 - I know, right? TWO games in a single SERIES? That's just milking it. No game series should have more than a single game. Period.

@9 I think they where referring to the fact that there has been 3 XCOM games in just over a year.

@9. I was talking about how this will be the third game to carry the XCOM title in barely a year. Not the there's more than one game.

I would buy this again if it was gonna be on the X1, but since it's on 360 I'll just give it a miss and wait for the sequel.

The Bureau, albeit a great game, doesn't count as an XCOM game. It's a spin-off set in the same universe, and don't forget that it was in development long before XCOM: EU! Remember that FPS game that looked like Fallout, without the wasteland, and a lot more aliens?? (I still want that game, DAMN YOU 2K!!)
And XCOM: Enemy Within is actually DLC... Just released on a disc as a standalone product, like Dragon Age: Awakening! That's not really milking the franchise...! It seems that they actually considered that, on a console, people trade in games, and those who did that, won't be able to play this new DLC. So by releasing it on a standalone disc, is kinda genious, if you ask me! People who sold the game, can still play the DLC! I think a lot of companies should do this, but that'll happen the same day as Activision starts to release CoD: GOTY editions...

my info was that "enemy within" will come as part of the "commander edition" including the standard game and all DLCs. "enemy within" was also supposed to be kind of a "very large DLC" and everyone expected it to count towards the original gamerscore (dlc-style). and now it is a separate game? confusing.

hm ok, seems like this IS the commander edition, so I guess "enemy within" has a separate achievement list and is NOT counting towards the standard game - nice!

To bad this wasn' t a DLC. Enemy Unknown is a great game and I still have to finish it, so I' ll get the "new" version and sell the old copy.

@11 - Fair enough. I'd call it two games, as this seems like (or at least was supposed to be) an expansion. But I guess the argument could be made that it is three. Still, two very different aesthetics and play styles, so really similar in name only.

OT: Can't believe there isn't anything linked to Ironman. Not complaining, as I still don't have that one from the last game, just surprised.

I'm wondering, since it comes with Enemy Unknown, if we'll be able to get the achievements for the original game as well as these. If not I'll be keeping my copy of Enemy Unknown that's sitting in my backlog.

Taken from Amazon.com product description - "XCOM: Enemy Within is a standalone expansion to the 2012 Game of the Year award-winning strategy game XCOM: Enemy Unknown. XCOM: Enemy Within features the core experience of XCOM: Enemy Unknown plus even more content, including all-new soldiers and abilities, enemy threats, maps and missions, and multiplayer content providing a fresh new gameplay experience. Also included is the Elite Soldier Pack, plus the Slingshot and Second Wave add-on content.

Threatened by an unknown enemy, Earth’s governments unite to form a secret paramilitary organization, known as XCOM, to combat this extraterrestrial attack. As the commander of XCOM, you control the global defense team and its resources in a battle against the terrifying alien invasion. You control the fate of the human race by creating and managing a fully operational base, researching alien technologies, planning combat missions, and controlling soldier movement in battle."

Sounds to me like it's basically Enemy Unknown with lots of added stuff. That said, it does not sound like you can play Enemy Unknown without all this new stuff.

@28 - Did you read what #26 posted? By that amazon definition it sure looks like it has both Unknown and Within bundled together.

Either way, this shows what a poor job Firaxis and 2K have done describing exactly what it is we get with this purchase.

@31 Oh boy, It's made with the same engine, It is Enemy unknown, Except it's new content, Enemy unknown doesn't come with the game.
Have you never heard of an expansion?
There is a special edition (Called comander edition) that comes with Unknown, But it's not default packaged in.
Some people are so thick in the head..

I think there's a lot of confusion here resulting from the unusual wording that Firaxis and others are using. The "commander edition" is the console version of Enemy Within - there is no non-commander edition version for either xbox or ps3. For PC it is simply a dlc, which is why their achievement list is united while consoles have lists for each of Unknown and Within.

Everything from Enemy Unknown is included in the "commander edition." It is the same storyline - fight/capture aliens, assault alien base, gain psychic soldier, assault alien ship. All of Enemy Within's content plays out within the earlier story.

That said, for consoles there is no option to toggle it to play without the Within content. If you want Unknown achievements, you'll have to play from your Unknown disc.

Just to clear up the confusion guys, and I don't know if anyone else has said this as I only read half way down the page, but...

This game IS XCOM:EU but with all the content from Enemy Within included too. In terms of achievements and the like it is a completely separate game however. It is not DLC or a standalone expansion, just a beefed up Enemy Unknown with a load of new content and different (and frankly much easier looking) achievement list.
