Introducing Resero, Our New Video Network

Introducing Resero, Our New Video Network

For years we’ve been saying that the future is video, it’s actually why we invested such a lot of money into video equipment from such an early age. It’s also why today, on the eve of our bi-annual London Comic Con stage show, it gives me the greatest pleasure to announce our new venture: Resero, our video-centric network for our video content moving forward.

What exactly does that mean, I hear you scream? In the short-term it means we’re packing our bags up and heading back to YouTube for all our videos, something that readers have been asking us to do for a while now – and we’re always listening. It also means you’ll see even more bespoke video content (like this and this), under both the Xbox Achievements & PlayStation Trophies banner, and the non-platform specific Resero banner too, whether that’s more early glimpses at gameplay with Let’s Plays, more intriguing features or loads of live streams. All the links to our new video network, from Twitter and Facebook, to Twitch and YouTube are below. Give us a like/follow/subscribe/cookie/virtual hug/high five, etc. You know the score. It also means we’re launching a completely video-centric website – yes, our third site, yay – before our London Comic Con show kicks off tomorrow.

That’s the short-term. In the long-term it’s even more exciting. Our ultimate aim is to create a multi-channel network – like Machinima – on YouTube where we welcome members of our community under our umbrella. You help us to help you. We have a huge stake in the monstrous niche of video game achievement and trophy guides and we’ll be looking for perfect partners who want to create walkthroughs, guides and whatever else they want with the added incentive of getting preferential front page treatment. The ultimate bonus scenario in all of this is that the site ultimately gets better quality video content when it comes to the guides, which is nothing but a win. We win, the content providers win, the guide users win, everyone wins.

So yeah, that’s our long-term goal, but for the short-term you get more video content on a platform you’ve been wanting us to re-adopt for quite some time.

Oh, and what’s that? Why “Resero” – pronounced rez-aero? Simple, because it means to unlock in Latin. That, and it makes us seem like some cool corporate espionage entity.

You guys need to work on voice overs. I watched some of the videos and they were pretty hard to get through.

@#4 - Is it cause we're British? We can't stop being British, you know =P
@#5 - It does indeed, well, except for EA stuff, cause they apparently have blocked every vid we've put up on there thus far... even stuff they sent *us* to post. We'll put those on Viddler instead.

I understood you perfectly fine and I'm American. The voice overs do become a tad quiet at parts though.

I'm excited for Resero. :)

@4: I commented on one their videos suggesting a pop filter, and they said someone stole all their good equipment at that convention they went to and they're working in replacing it.

So if your objection was the audio quality, that should get fixed soon.

If it was something else... Well maybe you should leave more specific criticism. Your comment could mean anything really and thus is not very helpful to them in terms of using your feedback to improve.

I'm sorry, I don't wat to piss on anyones parade here, but why create a video network, quote -like Machinima- unquote, when Machinima already exists?
And what do you mean by "You help us to help you"? We help you by proiding content that you th can use and sell? So we help you guys making money (because let's be honest, this is a business move first and foremost), and in return we gain...what exactly?

@9: You gain money too. That's the point of a network like Machinima on YouTube. If they decide to partner you under their network, they get money and you get money.

@#9 - What MJ said =P You're not creating content for us, you're creating content for you and the site - you own the content. If you're a partner with us though you'll get preferential frontpage treatment with your guides (so you get more views) and thus, you get more money and coverage. Simples.

@10 & 11
Ah ok! Wasn't really sure how this would work, thanks for pointing it out
(could have been good to put that in the description above though, not everyone -myself included, obviously- knows how networks like Machinima work ;-)

@#12 - Yeah, my bad. Apologies. The reason I skipped over it though was more because that's a long-term goal and we're not ready to take that step just yet =)
