It's time to blow Dead Rising 2: Off the Record wide open, as a pair of powerful new skills packs have hit the Xbox Live Marketplace today, boasting a variety of new items and abilities that are going to change your gameplay experience somewhat.

First up is the Firefighter Skills Pack, which like the Cyborg and BBQ Chef Skills Packs before it, offers new costumes and items to adorn Frank with. Here's what the Firefighter Skills Pack brings to Dead Rising 2: OTR:

  • Immunity to fire damage
  • Increased speed when carrying or assisting survivors
  • The ability to kick doors open
  • New attack and increased durability with the fire axe

That's all well and good, but if you really want to tip the scales in your favour in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, you'll be wanting to download the GameBreaker Pack, which enables you to manipulate the in-game clock, gives you indestructible combo weapons, infinite ammo and also lets you activate God Mode. Here's what the GameBreaker Pack gives you:

  • Instant PP
  • God Mode
  • Super damage
  • Super speed
  • Big head mode
  • Body builder mode
  • Dumb zombies
  • Flat Frank
  • Giant hands
  • Cinema filters
  • And more

Both the Firefighter Skills Pack and GameBreaker Pack are out now on the Xbox Live Marketplace for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. The Firefighter Skills pack can be added to your download queue here for 160 Microsoft Points, while the GameBreaker Pack can be downloaded here for 400 Microsoft Points. Happy zombie slaughtering, folks! Check out the screens and vids below.

I wonder if activating super damage, super speed, and god mode voids the achievements.

Gamebreaker sounds interesting. I'm gonna wait to see what it does to achievements before I buy it though cause I'm not gonna spend 400 MSP to disable achievements

Dear Dead Rising Consumer,

Here's everything you've ever wanted. You'll understand that we still want to make some money, but hopefully this will be an apology enough for unfulfilled potential that was Dead Rising 2.

Yours,

Capcom

Remember when this kind of thing was presented as a reward for something in the game, and they didn't make you pay extra for it?

...Seriously? You have to pay $5 for some fucking cheat codes now?! What happened to entering them in-game or unlocking them by completing in-game objectives? No, we're going to make gamers PAY for cheat codes now.

Capcom should be applauded for constantly finding new lows to sink to, at least.

@11 EA has been doing this for a long time and this was something included in some of the Crackdown DLC's if I remember, so it's nothing original. If it didn't disable achievements it would even be a good deal, making this game easier and more entertaining.

@#8 Exactly my thoughts. PPl like #10 miss point entirely. While achievements are fun and all priority are gameplay and fun factor. You don't play games for achievements, you earn achievements while playing games. Unless you have your priorities mixed up...

Thought for a second how retarded it is to pay for cheats, but then again, does anybody remember ps1 and gameshark. Just saying it's definitely not a first. Still doesn't make it suck an less though.

@ 16 - QFT!!

If this was SOLELY a site based on achievements, we wouldn't get news articles dictating about other Xbox criteria.

If anybody is playing games JUST for achievements, way to saturate the market with the stupidest reason to plunk money down for a game. People like this are the reason DLC and such most likely get over-priced or shoddy. They know a large group of insipid morons will pay $10 just to hear that little plinky noise 5 more times.

@ 19 - Okay but does it say Xbox360achiementsONLY-AND-NOTHING-ELSE?

No, I don't think so. It's an Xbox site if anything. According to your logic, Burger King should not be selling chicken sandwiches JUST because of the name of the place.

Please go down some Drain-O. Post haste.

Does anyone remember Grand Theft Auto? It wasn't a big super important part of the game but I believe in Vice City on you had a screen which kept track of kills and stuff but also gave you a score.

Sure, cheat codes were free and everyone used them but did you know that everytime you used a cheat, your score decreased? You could always tell who cheated to complete the game as their score was always negative.

But on to the point, it would've been nice if these cheats were free and just disabled achievements. But it's nice to finally have a sandbox-zombie game to do with whatever you please however you please to do it.

And it's not even made by Rockstar either.

@17- PS1 Gameshark, eh? Try NES Game Genie. Hell, I still have my SNES & the SNES Game Genie...& a Game Boy Game Genie.

Disappointed that the Gamebreaker pack disables achievements, but I may have to get just for fun. Grinding kills for PP is half the fun of Dead Rising, and once you level up enough most of the game becomes pretty easy ( fuck Overtime TK, cheap ass bastard... )

Your reasoning for the cost and quality of DLC is nothing short of bizarre. Also, when you put in a lot of hard work for some achievements, "that little plinky sound" sounds pretty damn good.

Going to get this as achievements won't unlock, I'd hate to unlock one using a cheat.
Plus, getting the perfect ending starting at Lvl 1 gives you a sense of achievement, as apposed to whacking on God mode and "finishing" the game.
Hell, maybe it's just me, I want this for the cinema filters, whatever they'll look like.

I like the idea of the game breaker. I think they should add this into other games as well. I like to play the game legit but when it's over I need some fun things to do.

Ya know, what in the world would be wrong with leaving achievements enabled with the GameBreaker DLC? Why can't I just play the game the way I want (since I did buy it, not you) and still earn achievements? Achievements have no tangible value - they're just for fun, so what's the big deal?

Just shows how old I am, I guess: I'd never play Contra without the 30-man code, and why would you? It's there, it makes the game more fun because you're not inching along (a boring way to play) scared to death that something's gonna come running out to kill you. Now days, something like that would disable 'chevs. It's stupid. I LOATHE breakable weapons in any game. I mean it really sucks the fun out of it for me. I play Dead Island with a hack that prevents weapons from breaking, not to "get one over" on the game or break it, but because I love the game otherwise but absolutely hate breaking weapons. The devs would frown on this, but screw 'em - I paid for the game - I DID, not you, so I'll do whatever I want, thanks.

/end rant

@ 26 - Point being, do you spend money to enjoy a game or to be rewarded with intangible rewards?

I play games for games. Not fake trophies.

@30

First off, if you want to talk about "trophies", you should be on the sister site ps3trophies.com. :p

But seriously, you should take into consideration that a lot of achievements actually allow you to get MORE out of the game. Either by making you go into areas that you wouldn't normally go into during a playthrough or by requiring you to complete a level or task a certain way. Basically, you get more bang for your buck.

i think this just proves that this game was made for the money. what happened to unlockables? did you guys go for 7 day survivor in dr1? i fell aspleep at 23:30 and had to start over. i didn't mind because it was a good game. dlc sounds awesome i'd love to try these diffent things but wasn't that the point of the entire game. i have to draw the line, i can't earn bing rewards that fast.
