Well The Dive Comedy was 3 books and the end of the game is very open to a sequel. However this news best not get my hopes up.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:01 AM
Cool, just about to start the first oneThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:01 AM
I really enjoyed the first one. Here's hoping the sequel gets made!Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:02 AM
The first one played like a poor mans God Of War, but was still respectable. Polish was the only thing it really needed, oh and actual worth while DLC.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:03 AM
@1 - *Divine...Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:05 AM
This deserved a sequel?Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:05 AM
please making dante's inferno sequel. i want to see dante fighting the angels to get his wife back.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:06 AM
@6 If Call of Duty does... everything else does too.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:06 AM
One of my best games of 360 all time. Would love a sequelThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:21 AM
The game deserves a sequel. I know the resemblance between God of War and this game but i really liked the storyline and to me, this game was a bit darker and scarier than God of War. My personal opinion and many might not like it.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:25 AM
Never played the God of War series but I really enjoyed this game and I could see it being worth of a sequel myself.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:27 AM
Well we kinda know about Dead Space 3 being out by that Turkish(?) TV thing but it'd be nice to have all of the 3 Books into games. It does need a lot of improvement though, if it happened again I would have rented DI rather than bought it when it came out.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:38 AM
What?!Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:54 AM
FUCKING FINALLY! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER!Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:59 AM
Well...if it follows the Divine Comedy, Inferno and Purgotorio (Second part) are really the only ones I can see converted into a game. Paradiso was more...just like repenting and whatnot as opposed to an epic journey for reason. :/ Basically if it's Dante's Purgotory, don't expect a part 3, unfortunately!Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 12:17 PM
I've got a lot of time for Visceral Games and I think they have grate talent and I believe that whatever they do next will be brilliant. So just show that you've got Visceral Games! But on a side note, Dead Space is one of my all time fav games!!!Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 12:28 PM
awesome, loved the first one, it got overlooked cause it came out right around the same as HYPE OF WAR 3 which wasnt that much better only bad part was the stupid checkpoint locations which would make you do the rediculously hard jumping parts over if you died...AFTER GETTING PAST THE REDICULOUSLY HARD JUMPING PARTThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 12:36 PM
Awesome, looks like I'm going to have to finish the first one now!Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 01:01 PM
Loved the First one, but ended so quickThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 03:12 PM
thats cool hopefully we see a sequel come out I really enjoyed this gameThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 03:14 PM
I LOVED the first one. So, I hope this is true.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 03:17 PM
@6 Its an EA game,of course it deserves 200 sequels (according to EA at least)Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 03:37 PM
@17 I'm sorry but god of war 3, or "hype of war 3" as you call it, was the best game I have ever played! The whole trilogy was amazing and I don't think there will be another game that can come close to the epicness! But that's just my opinion. OT: this game is the closest I can get to god of war without buying a ps3, I hope they do the sequel, really enjoyed the story and with a upgraded engine they can achieve amazing things and make it 10x betterThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 04:29 PM
@8 what about homefront that doesn't deserve anything not even dlc and they are coming out with a sequelThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 04:34 PM
Awesome! Dantes inferno was one of the best told stories in a game since Metal Gear Solid, loved it! Kudos to the Artists aswell, such a quality representation of hellThursday, November 24, 2011 @ 05:30 PM
...hmmm I played dates inferno at euro gamer .. Completed the game when I got it... I didn't think it needed a sequel to be honest... But as said before .. This is ea we are speaking of...Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 06:03 PM
@24 That game had a pretty good multiplayer. Btw, the sequel is being developed by Crytek (Crysis 2) so the sequel will probably have a better/longer campaign and the graphics will be much better.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 07:43 PM
@23 lol@a button masher being the best game you've ever played. an it wasnt even the best looking masher that year, Castlevania:LOS looked just as good(ON THE XBOX) if not better without all tEH BLEWRAIZE DISC SPACE and unnecessary zoom outs during climbing sequences "HURR LOOK HOW MASSIVE OUR ENVIROEMT IS" even tho you cant actually go anywhere an we still have the same narrow paths from the PS2-era games. plus the campaign was short as hell, lol 3 years of buildup and hype an marketing the blueray disc space an it still only took like 5 hours of REAL time which is just as short as GOW2 was, finished it in 1 night an sent it back to gamefly cause theres nothing else to be done other than replay the same button mashing experience.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 07:49 PM
not to mention the story is just a complete mess, they dont even follow greek mythology properly. atleast Dante's Inferno is based on a book series an followed it.Thursday, November 24, 2011 @ 11:13 PM
As long as we don't have to fight the devil again... his giant junk still haunts my dreams...Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 02:14 AM
#15 - I can see what you mean, but they were hardly true to the original story for Inferno, which means that they could use artistic license once again for Paradiso. As such... a war in heaven. That could be truly magnificent, with the prospect of flaming chariots and throwing mountains around!!! In fact, I think there is more scope there for an epic game than with Purgatorio, as Purgatorio could turn out very similar to Inferno. Either way, I absolutely adored the first game, so I really hope that these rumours are true.Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 03:25 AM
first one was sick!Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 04:06 AM
#22-Really? You know there are a ton of people waiting on a Mirror's Edge sequel, among other things. I believe Ubisoft, Capcom, and Activision have put out more sequels compared to new IP's this generation. Then comes EA and others like Square Enix which should continue to support other IP's, but because they don't sell well despite all of the clamoring or criticism for fresher experiences they resort to the same model that works with annual or biennial releases. And yes I know that EA was the worst offender with this last generation, but that was six years ago.Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 04:17 AM
If they do make it, hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes off the first one which was way too short and even on the harder difficulties a little too easy and the boss' were too easy with the final boss being one of the easiest in the whole game which is always a let down at the end of a game when it's too easyFriday, November 25, 2011 @ 05:35 AM
@28/29 Having read the Divine Comedy, I can tell you that this game DOESN'T actually follow the story. For one thing, Dante Aligheri was a poet, not a soldier during the Crusades (for some reason). BTW God of War isn't supposed to follow the original stories, seeing as Kratos is not actually a Greek legend and he goes out to kill them all.Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 06:10 AM
I had God of War and Dantes Inferno on my ps3 until it died. Loved both games. But I will at some point pick up DI on my 360, as I loved the visuals. Yes, its a button masher, but I am quite partial to them games, as well as games that make you do a little bit more than that. A sequel would be fun, but I do think that there are way to many games getting a sequel these days. Its not often we get a brand new game that doesn't have a number after the title. The only games I own that are not, are Alan Wake and Too Human. Rest are sequels.Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 07:46 AM
Would love to play a sequel to this. First game was awesome.Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 10:41 AM
@ 28/29 - In terms of depth, historical content and probably one of the most exciting "button mashers" of all time, I'd say it was more than a hype. Greek Mythology isn't easy to interpret into a decent visual medium due to how outlandish it's myths and characters are but in this case, GoW was put together gorgeously and was received with little hate or flaming. So for a hype, it was one successful hype and that's a fact. Not to mention, it wasn't meant to "follow" or reenact the stories of Greek Mythology. They just added Kratos to the lore which, again, is all myth so it shouldn't be that big a deal with "historical accuracy". And finally, apparently you DIDN'T read The Divine Comedy b/c the game takes too many liberties. Someone pointed out that Dante was in fact a poet/scholar and not a soldier. Another big inaccuracy with the story is the involvement of Beatrice and his father especially their "intertwining". In reality, Dante only met Beatrice twice in his entire life and they never had any type of actual romance. In fact, Beatrice was not attracted to him at all.Friday, November 25, 2011 @ 12:08 PM
i agree with skyrimFriday, November 25, 2011 @ 03:17 PM
http://youtu.be/k_AYYJzfWdU i will always think of this when i play dante'sFriday, November 25, 2011 @ 03:51 PM
Fun game. A sequel'd be cool.Saturday, November 26, 2011 @ 07:05 AM
We'd love a sequel, This might be one of the only game of this gen which I liked a lot and always wondered, Why no sequel for this and we are seeing crappy sequels for othersSaturday, November 26, 2011 @ 01:38 PM
So correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the last thing seen in Dante's "To be Continued"? That usually means a sequel, and it does deserve one, in my humble opinion. But I've only been playing games since the mid 70's and I probably don't know what the current generation wants,Tuesday, November 29, 2011 @ 11:33 AM
I don't care what others may think I thought this was a good game. I'm not saying its the best but they should do better in the sequel since many disliked the original. They should consider doing a different style.Friday, December 23, 2011 @ 05:22 PM
If they do decide to make a sequel (which I'm hoping), I hope that it'll improve upon everything that the first one had as well as developing better DLCs (or include them for free) this time around. It is a great game, but the DLC didn't interest me enough to consider getting the full 100%.Monday, March 12, 2012 @ 06:25 AM
@#29 What about God of War 2 was a mess?Sure I had few complaints the dat after I finished it but the series quality as a whole quickly overshadowed any doubt that it was the best game I ever played.Pretty sure many would agree but you can't satisfy everyone. In Dante's Inferno right off the bat I saw what was talked about when it drew comparisons to God of War.But still it was a solid game. Why would'nt a sequel be welcome...

Twitter-based detective Superannuation has been at it again, this time digging up some info on a possible Dante's Inferno sequel, based upon the blog of writer Joshua Rubin, which credits him as “sole writer for a Major Unannounced Sequel”. He's also said to be helping Visceral Games in “creating a major new unannounced IP for a AAA game company.”
While this is clearly open to a variety of interpretations, the blog also features a link to the Superbowl commercial for the first Dante's Inferno, which suggests the "unannounced sequel" could be Dante's Inferno 2. But then again, it could be Visceral's Dead Space 3 too.
This is the second rumour that's pointed to Dante's Inferno 2 though, with a job description looking for an Environment Artist back in May. However, Dante's Inferno Producer Jonathan Knight told The Escapist: “I’ve read the entire Divine Comedy and I’ve given it some thought, but there are no plans”, with regard to a sequel shortly after the first game released.
So, will they or won't they be making a Dante's Inferno 2? For now, it's just a rumour, but then again, stranger things have happened.
