Medal of Honor and Need for Speed Sequels Outed by GAME

While the insert bunged into copies of Battlefield 3 pretty much confirmed that a Medal of Honor sequel is indeed on the way, and news of a new Need for Speed is hardly surprising, GAME has been tweeting about both unconfirmed games today anyway, following a presentation from EA.

The offending tweets have since been removed, but GAME was tweeting about its trip to see EA before blabbing about the unannounced titles in question. "This morning we're at an EA presentation, where we hope to see some pretty cool games! Don't know what we can say yet but stay tuned!"

Chances are GAME wasn't supposed to say anything - hence why the tweets have been taken down - but say something the UK retailer did. "EA presentation was great. Had mentions of a new Medal of Honour [sic] and Need for Speed 13! EA have an exciting year ahead."

With Black Box developing the decidedly weak Need for Speed: The Run, hopefully this year should see Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit developer Criterion taking the reins once again, unless the studio is working on another open-world Burnout, which is certainly a possibility. And Medal of Honor 2 would no doubt plug the FPS void left by Battlefield this year, pitting it against CoD in the shooter stakes.

  • cmon u hardly need to tell us there's gunna be another nfs
  • I dont think pitting moh against cod is a good idea the best thing they could do there is get the thing out either 3-4 months before or after cods release otherwise it will no doubt bomb. But i would love to see criterion back in the driving seat of need for speed , as hot persuit was imo the best the series has been since the ps1 days.
  • Please please pleeeease nfs underground 3!!!
  • Another MoH game sounds interesting. I hope they go back to their roots, to be honest. I'd like to see another Allied Assault game.
  • typo "pursuit" sorry
  • The most recent MOH definatly jumped on the COD bandwagon, hopefully the new one will see the developers move away from the modern military FPS mould
  • I'll be happy with a NFS underground, hot pursuit or even most wanted. I won't be happy with a NFS undercover, the run or any other random new racer that tries to change things up. EA should just listen to the fans and gives us what we want. Hot pursuit was very successful and another underground game would be even better.
  • I'll be buying both the next MoH as well as the next (Criterion developed) NFS. Well, that's two games I'll definitely be buying at the end of the year, and it's not even two weeks into January. Wait, I forgot about Halo 4.. that's three games.
  • Burnout Paradise 2, one day guys, one day!
  • I'm guessing they will be both be terrible judging from the run and MoH. NFS need to go back to Underground or maybe even hot persuit 2 :P
  • @9 - Definitely! MoH; I'm not too bothered about. NFS; Either do another Underground, Most Wanted or Hot Pursuit or don't even bother churning out your stupid dragged-through-the-mud carcass shit of a series any time soon.
  • Who remembers when Need for Speed used to be fun?
  • aside from the fact the campaign was far too short, i did enjoy the last moh, just needs to be a bit longer
  • I dont think Need For Speed would return to the underground series as it already has all of the neons and night racing in NFS World on the pc.
  • I want another Burnout. Maybe EA should take a leave from NFS unless its Underground 3.
  • I hope Criterion works on Burnout Paradise 2 or a new NFS
  • When are developers gonna learn not to tell Game anything, they can't be trusted.
  • and I won't be getting either of them
  • This applies to both games: I hope it's better than the last one.
  • Wasnt there an announcement already that there will be a battlefield 4 this year already? or am i mis-remembering
  • the only nfs i can enjoy now a days is shift
  • Ned For Speed The Run was awesome and best NFS game in series for me, so its not weak at all! Criterion NFS HP was more weaker and absolutely let down for me but critics thinks that they did a good work. Anyway can't wait for new NFS!
  • dice are getting to be just like activision with bf and moh except their one company whereas activision have two companies, but im pretty sure these games will get pretty old pretty fast.
  • Medal of Honor was a good game, especially because they tried to mix call of duty and battlefield together...and medal of honor was the result.
  • A Need for Speed sequel... Big surprise there. It's the Call of Duty of racing games.
  • The big question is...why do people still buy these games?
  • I want them to "out" the Mirror's Edge sequel... that would make my day. If they can make Medal of Honor 2 not-boring. Then I will be interested. @ 23 - First of all I can't quite make out what your point is. Second: Maybe do some reading on the difference between Publishers and Developers. Dice is an EA-owned developer, Activision and EA are both publishers. Infinity Ward and Treyarch are developers under Activision. The MoH reboot was developed by Danger Close, a different EA developer and not Dice. Dice only worked on the Multiplayer which is likely why the MP was actually somewhat enjoyable. The campaign by Danger Close was boring and pretentious tripe. The best thing about it was that it was short, it didn't prolong the agony.
  • @24 activision own 14 studios not 2... and DICE are owned by EA who well own pretty much everyone at the moment anyway i would like to also put in that i would like another underground game, last NFS that were actually a lot of fun for me but they were EA black box so if they arent making this years i doubt it will be
  • Meh, MoH wasn't too bad. hopefully they'll improve
  • Fuck no i hated NFS the run and unless it's a Underground 3 i'm not wastin my money
  • I am only buying another need for speed if it's Need for speed most wanted ,the first is by far the best in the franchise and it has the best songs ever for a game
  • *2*
  • Hopefully the new MoH stays true to being one of the few shooters currently on the market to be inspired by actual events and a real war. If it does, then I'll buy it.
  • I hope they can make the next MoH.....well....better. The last one had potential and some of the ideas in it were very fun but the game was kind of a flop due to short campaign and ideas that didn't play out as well as they should have. I'll probably pick the game up, despite the flaws I thought it had a pretty solid campaign in the story depo.
  • Both the new MoH and the last five new NFS games sucked so i couldn't care less LOL
  • @22 Read carefully the article states that NFS:The Run was the weak game not Hot Pursuit.
  • How is this news? EA has been milking this franchise for a decade, you'd have to be a fool to think they weren't coming out with new ones soon.
  • Why? Both are horrible games that don't deserve a sequel.
  • I don't know I kinda liked the 2010 Medal of Honor I thought it was alright it defiantly bombed where Black Ops succeeded but I liked the whole Tier 1 special operatives kind of story it was a cool campaign multiplayer felt like a carbon copy of Bad Company 2 but that's not such a bad thing. I just hope this time around they can make the campaign and multiplayer have its own feel rather than copying Battlefield. I like that they are giving COD a run for their money this year it'll be MOH 2 and next year probably Bad C0. 3 well we shall see I guess...
  • Nothing will beat Call of Duty in the FPS category.
  • How does black box make an awesome game like Most wanted then after that constantly make worse and worse games, We need a Underground 3 NFS game, also the Run was horrible.
  • What is this Call of Duty people keep referring to? It must be pretty popular because people keep comparing everything to it on every article on this website. Ill have to look into it...
  • i quite liked MOH campaign, but the multiplayer was horrible..... till this day i still havent pkayed all the modes yet cause cant find players. and the snipers just make me rage quit.....
  • The last N4S game I actually enjoyed was Underground 2. Such an amazing game, and so much potential for a bigger game on 360 that never arrived. Why?? That game would sell shitloads of copies, and the online community would be huge. Imagine being able to race for pink slips for other peoples cars? Seriously EA, sort it. All we!ve had is below par N4S games since Underground 2. I'm sure many people would agree.
  • I'm hoping Criterion is working on a sequel to Burnout Paradise and not another NFS. @20 You're mis-remembering. EA said there will be a BF4(which is a given without them saying that) but never said 2012. Plus DICE has already said they don't see the need to annualize BF.
  • Medal of Honor: Need for Speed could be a neat idea...
  • there's not been a decent nfs for years now, they should just stop bringing them out
  • it seems im the only one that thought the run was quite a good game? just abit short?
  • Good point 49, The Run was the most depressing grind ever and the last MoH had horrible MP and SP was boring. Ill only buy either game if they end up being released during a games drought. If they release this November then I think they might both sink without a trace
  • @44 you're so right
  • Didn't EA say that Battlefield 4 would be out this year?
  • #5 Can you correct your shitty grammar too while you're at it?
  • YES!!!! they most definitely need another underground, loved the first two, and miss them both!
  • @40 On the contrary...everything beats CoD in the FPS genre. Unless we are talking about Cod 1-4. Then nothing beats that. Cod 5 and anything higher is a joke.
  • And what we need is a WW2 game developed by a good group of developers and publishers. But Nothing to do with Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, or Battlefield. We need a new series. Maybe Activision will realize we don't need to be hitting the 2 digit numbers for a series. No series ever should...heck no series should ever go over 4.
  • Hey EA, how bout you point Blackbox back over to the Skate series? We need another one.
  • Interesting. I liked the first Medal of Honor. Would like to see them with the frostbite 2 engine though..the graphics weren't all that great for the first one.
  • Criterion taking the reigns again? So can we expect it to be like Hot Pursuit? Half the game seemingly impossible time trials driving in the oncoming traffic lane to maintain boost and getting time penalties for every minor mistake that force you to restart? Criterion can eat shit.
