Namco Bandai has announced that its customisable robot stomp 'em up Armored Core V will be coming to the US this spring, with massive online multiplayer battles and a robust offline single-player mode, all with a hefty dollop of shooty strategy gameplay.

“Gamers have been eagerly anticipating the release of Armored Core V, which will bring strategic mech combat to new heights,” said Eiichi Nakajima, Studio Head at developer From Software. “With cooperative missions, a persistent online world battling for territories and epic team battles, Armored Core V is the complete action shooter package.”

There's an all-new Operator Mode promised for AC V too, which has you overseeing the tactical action on the battlefield, doling out orders like a regular Patton. US retailer GameStop has also revealed some pre-order extras, with the 'Heavy Assault Pack' which grants additional weapons and parts as DLC to help in customising your bespoke war machine.

Armored Core V will be coming to the US on March 20th, 2012. Presumably, Europe will follow suit with a launch on March 23rd, although Namco Bandai has yet to confirm this.

Soo... Mass Effect 3 on March 6th, Ninja Gaiden, RE Operation Raccoon City AND Armored Core V on March 20th.

Looks like this will be a busy year in gaming.

Awesome! I'm excited to see how that multiplayer turns out. If its anything like Chromehounds (which it sounds like) but with AC mechs? Oh man, that'd be sweet.

I remember AC4 from long time ago. Playing multiplayer with only energy blades (swords) was the best.

Here is what I hope epic team battle means:

8-on-8 or 12-on-12 squad wars
Clan battles
Parts flying anywhere and people screaming when they die (ala Halo)
Bet parts before battle starts

Among other things, of course

Chrome Hounds was the best! i still have the game fire it up now and again just to replay the missions. I hope this game will fill the void left from Chrome Hounds.
