It's Official: XCOM Really is Delayed Until 2013

Once upon a time, 2K Marin's XCOM first-person shooter had been scheduled for release in March of this year, but back in November, news came through that it had been delayed into the next fiscal year, meaning that the game could have still arrived sometime this year. Turns out that won't be the case anymore.
Now it's official. XCOM will be delayed to within that next fiscal year, as previously thought, but it'll be the 2013 end of said fiscal year. So, while Firaxis is working away on XCOM: Enemy Unknown, it looks as though the more strategical, traditional iteration of XCOM will be coming first.
No reason has been given for the delay - news of which comes from the pages of Game Informer issue 226 - but we imagine it'll be to enable 2K Marin to apply all the polish they can leading up to the game's 2013 launch. We're surprised to see XCOM being delayed for an entire year, as we thought it was looking pretty strong at E3 last year.
