Gearbox has has confirmed it. Aliens: Colonial Marines is not out until some time in the Autumn.
"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line," said a Gearbox spokesperson in response to speculation.
"While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritizing this goal over the previously targeted date."
Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines has been delayed until autumn 2012. But it hasn't. Or maybe it has.
Earlier today, AVP Galaxy spotted that the game's official website listed Colonial Marines for an autumn release. That set alarm bells ringing immediately, as the long in the making sci-fi FPS was supposed to be out this spring. What didn't help was Sega's silence. The publisher didn't say a word to either confirm or deny the rumour.
However, after everyone got into a flap, the listing was quietly changed back to Spring 2012, a new trailer was teased... and Sega remain quiet. there's still been no official denial. Will this new vid be a sweetener for another delay, or is this egg finally ready to hatch? We'll have to wait and see.
