Summer Stars 2012
Summer Stars 2012 Sprinting Into Stores in Q2

Winter Stars was one of our lowest scoring games in 2011, scraping out a meagre 35 out of 100, so we suspect that developer 49 Games will be wanting to set things straight with the newly announced Summer Stars 2012, the Kinect athletics game that'll no doubt be timed for release before the 2012 Olympics come to London.

Offering a "challenging and deep career mode" (that's what it says here), with multiplayer for up to 4-players and 18 different disciplines and challenges to tackle, Summer Stars 2012 hopes to offer "high replay value" and a "gripping 'one more go' experience" with the likes of triple jump, mountain biking, diving and sprinting. Hmm...

There'll be splitscreen support for you and up to three friends, and as well as supporting Kinect, Summer Stars will also support traditional arcade-style controls. Mindless button-mashing?! Now you're talking! Summer Stars will be getting people jumping around with Kinect or creating arthritic claws when it launches in quarter 2 this year.

Check out some of the first screens below, which include a sprinter in yellow, remembering that he left the oven on at home.

I have a better idea.... instead of wasting money on making these stupid kinect titles, lets make some more games for the core players that bought your console 3 years ago in order TO PLAY GAMES! Not some Bullshit social crap...

@strawberry Read the article, it clearly says that there's traditional arcade controls and it also supports Kinect. You can play it either way you like.

@2 i am a core gamer who has kinect. i want games were i'm moving around. stop your trolling, dont like it, then dont buy it. but dont come to a kinect board & start a flaming war!

as for winter stars, i have it. it deserves a way better score than a 3/10. i give it 9.5/10. loved it & cant wait for this one! :) we need more good kinect titles. rise of nightmares, power up heroes, winter stars. were the only ones i'd say focused on core gamers. rest was workouts & dancing games.

@15 - Awwh man those memories are bad for me. I remember as a kid I rented that game, thought it was just an ordinary BMX game, the place we rented from didn't have cases, just covers, and my Dad obviously didn't see the rating.

I took it home, popped it in, let's just say when my Mum walked in she wasn't happy with my Dad loool

I was like Six XD

Agree with 13, prefer my party games to be a little silly like kinect sports 1&2, this looks a little serious for standing infront of your tv pretending to play sport.

Ok people come on, lets all take off our fanboy helmets and realize that #2 and #3 have valid points. Microsoft has clearly moved toward a philosophy that evolves making products for the casual audience and transforming their image to a family style (ie. Avatars can no buy guns to show off). The Kinect is a great idea and lovely piece of tech but, nonetheless it has not constantly engaged the core audience and thus has suffered. It's sales may have been high but have since trialed off with the lack of quality software. Of course there are exceptions to this rule but, exception do not make the rule. ME3 is now there big tout that kinect is a core device. It looks intriguing. How many "party" games are you willing to endure in order to keep the facade that Kinect is great? Potential is no excuse for failure.
