Alan Wake's American Nightmare Dev Diary III Talks the Boogeyman

View author's profile

The third Alan Wake's American Nightmare developer diary has dropped today, talking more about the crazed Mr. Scratch who is a manifestation of Wake's dark side and the serial killer archetype. In the vid, you'll also get to see Scratch messing with Wake in the game and messing around with the Remedy guys themselves.

In the game, which is set to launch next week, Wake must take up his nailgun and chase down Mr. Scratch, who threatens to do unspeakable things to his wife should he fail to catch up to the insane killer in time. In the dev diary, there's also a few more deets on the Fight 'til Dawn arcade mode, which will boast leaderboard support.

Check out the developer diary below, then prepare to carry out Mr. Scratch's demands and buy Alan Wake's American Nightmare from the Xbox Live Arcade on February 22nd for 1200 Microsoft Points.

@#3, the band is Poets of the Fall, likely posing under the pseudonym of the in-game band Old Gods of Asgard. Alan Wake featured "War", "Children of the Elder God" and "The Poet and the Muse" by Old Gods of Asgard/Poets of the Fall. The song has not been released yet, so I can't provide the title.

Huge Alan Wake and PotF fan!! Quite excited for this release.

Cannot wait! Mr. Scratch was barely touched on in Alan Wake, and I love how he's portrayed here!

His sales pitch at the end was classic too.

Throw some Poets of the Fall/ Old Gods of Asgard in, and this is sure to be one heck of an awesome game!

I'll never get over how Remedy and like Gamespot keep saying "AMERICAN NIGHTMARE IS NOT A SEQUEL AND DOESN'T CONTINUE THE STORY OF ALAN WAKE" when it so blatantly is.

Like, they kept trying to say that you didn't need to play the DLC episodes too and that you wouldn't miss anything and then started saying that this doesn't continue the story, when in fact they are all directly connected and all continue the story and are all relevant enough that you'd need to play them all for a true sequel to even make sense.

Super stoked for what is essentially a smaller budget Alan Wake 2. Already have points set aside specifically for this. Will probably have to play the original again to get myself pumped and ready for it, hahaha. Excited to complete it. Ohhh man. 22nd can not come soon enough.
