Just Add Water has run out of self-publishing and first-party publishing options to get Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath onto Xbox Live, but is hoping to get the game onto the platform via third-party publisher.
The developer is currently talking to “two or three” publishers and hopes to have an announcement out as early as April.
“We’ve basically run everything dry in terms of going some kind of first-party route with Microsoft, be it them publishing it or be it us publishing it ourselves, so we’re now having to go down the third-party route,” said studio boss Stewart Gilray.
“We’re speaking to two or three different publishers at the moment about taking it on for us. I think we’ll probably have some news on that by Easter, I hope.”
Gilray expects to get the nod imminently. “So far, so good,” he said. “We’ve got a meeting with Microsoft this week I believe with one of the companies to touch base with it. So hopefully, we’ll know more soon enough”
Originally released for the original Xbox back in 2005, a downloadable version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath has been available on PSN since last December.
The main stumbling block to bringing the game to XBL was the 2GB file size limit imposed on the system. Stranger's Wrath clocks in at 2.1GB. Let's hope Just Add Water can find a solution with the support of a publisher.
