GAME Won't Be Stocking Ninja Gaiden 3, Warriors Orochi 3 or Resident Evil: ORC

GAME and Gamestation has taken yet another hit today, as Tecmo Koei has announced that both Ninja Gaiden 3 and Warriors Orochi 3 will not be stocked at any of the retail chain's UK and Ireland branches. Customers who have pre-ordered the game are recommended to re-order the games elsewhere.

Capcom has also declared that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will also fail to materialise on GAME or Gamestation's shelves, after the game's absence was mentioned as a possibility last week, following the lack of Street Fighter X Tekken and Asura's Wrath stock in GAME stores last week.

The last few weeks have seen GAME Group making headlines, as the UK retailer's financial fortunes continue to spiral downward at an alarming rate. GameStop has been mentioned as a potential buyer for the firm, but according to digitalspy [thanks, John], OpCapita, the company who acquired electricals retailer Comet last year, is also reported to be interested in purchasing GAME's UK stores.

GAME Group apparently has less than two weeks to turn things around, or it'll face going into administration due to outstanding rent payments owed to its landlords.

  • Owch...poor game
  • So in a few weeks all they will be selling is preowned and excess stock of old games. That is if they are still around. It's sad when you see that every game in the chart is out of stock.
  • GAME may not be the best company, but we do need a Highstreet dedicated retailer or the entire industry will suffer.
  • Or PGA 13 or Fifa street. But I was in on Saturday and they were selling shop console cover! Bargain......
  • Damn this sucks, Looks like I'll be having to pre-order DmC elsewhere too...
  • @2 they already are. Iv picked up some absolute bargains online and at the bury store.
  • @4 yeah that made me laugh. "well you do get a years warranty with us anyway, but if you take this out it covers you for 3 years" ... Im secretly thnking "wow thats optimistic to offer that in your current state!"
  • How the hell they expect to be able to "turn it around" in 2 weeks without stocking the new games is beyond me.This getting painful now, they should stop dragging it out and just shut up shop.
  • If you have credit at Game I'd advise spending it now, once they go into administration it'll be worthless.
  • You know who should buy it? Game developers, or companies. Last week an article said "car companies get revenue out of used cars." Thats because they SELL used cars. Buy up this company, and have a third party run it.... EA can say we want $25 bucks for a used copy of this.... and Microsoft can say we want so much $ for this game and so on. anybody agree? I will not buy a console that I cant rent games for. So if thats microsofts solution, no hard drive or physical copies, then ive already purchased my last xbox!!!
  • Grainger games must be elated, there going to see a nice boost in sales
  • whos fault is this --- is it the games makers or game just not getting them in...
  • Looks like GAME is done. Shame I bought my first copy of Diablo 1 from when I was in the UK if memory serves me.
  • I am in Canada, I phoned several games stores, and everybody told me they have no idea about the release of warriors orochi 3 which is supposed to be in stock next week.
  • @12 Capcom and EA must have downgraged Game's credit limit because they must not have been paying their bills on time. It might at the point where they have to pay for stuff on proforma (pay up front) which judging by their financial situation, they cannot do. So they have decided to just not buy the games at all. So place your bets now, which publisher will be next to get dropped? I walked past Gamestation, and they had a board outside to try and get you to pre-order Max Payne 3.
  • I say this is all GAME & GameStation's (and soon to be GameStop's) fault. These retailers bite the hand that feeds them when they make it a top priority to sell used games KNOWING that publishers will only see profit from the 1st initial sale and it is unclear to me how it's been going on for so long without action. The reason games cost so much is because so few are actually being sold or being pushed to be sold. Just last week as I awaited the midnight launch of ME3, I had noticed GameStop employees already opening copies of the game. Although they wait 15 days, it is a horrible practice nonetheless to sell these as used to start the used-game-profit-monster. I say let them crumble under their own greed as well as any other company who puts the themselves over the video game industry.
  • It's ok, it's as it they are a store that specialises in video game sales or anything. The funny thing is though, with every one knowing they are about to go under, they are all rushing down to spend their store credit. So the games they are selling aren't making them any money. I have a game and gamestation in my local town centre, if they close they will probably be replaced with yet more £1 stores. Depressing.com
  • lol, just checked the website. Dragon Age 2 - New = 7.98, Preowned = On SALE at 8.98... it's a wonder the greedy bastards have lasted THIS long...
  • @16...what? Them selling pre-owned games has nothing to do with companies pulling out of selling through them ... Read up before jumping to conclusions ;)
  • Shock horror! Kinda expected this after they didnt even stock mass effect 3 aka game of the year. Just sucks the hottie at my local gamestation is gonna end up redundant.
  • @19 I disagree. Those companies make no money off of the used games that are always being pushed at those stores. Why continue to make one-time sales to a company that would rather wait for trade-ins than purchase more orders of new games? I honestly can not see any other reason for those companies to pulling out of selling through them. If you know of another reason please inform me as I am truly curious.
  • just wait people, soon the goverment will fuck online sales up too with tax this and tax that and tax whatever the fuck that is... game would look like a simple offer after it.
  • its GAME OVER GAME much love and goodnight say hello to gamestop
  • Forget GAME. Stick in shopto.net, amazon.co.uk and zavi.co.uk :):)
  • @21 - I think Akuza was meaning this is to do with the fact that GAME became unable to pay for their games via credit, so when publishers started asking for payment on proforma, GAME couldn't come thought with the cash and instead had to choose to not stock the games whatsoever. I do agree though that the publishers won't care a bit about seeing them go. The sooner preowned sales die the better for the industry. And @3 - what are you on about? There isn't a need for highstreet stores at all. The industry won't suffer in the slightest. If there was a need for them, GAME would be making enough money that this wouldn't be happening to them. OT: I've said it before but I do feel sorry for the employees (no matter how moronic the majority of them are)... I don't feel the slightest sympathy for GAME as a company though, and that's from someone who bought from them when they were Electronics Boutique (anyone else remember those days? :D). They got too big for their own boots thinking they could sell games so expensively and not suffer the consequences.
  • #24 I agree its all about saving movey and they under cut game by alot
  • Better go spend my points and vouchers then.
  • Bad news for the employees. Not what you want to happen in the current financial climate. I know that most of the GAME shop floor workers that I've talked to are dedicated gamers like anyone here and weren't particularly impressed with GAME's management/business practises etc.. but you need to earn a wage and now it's going to affect them most of all. I do order games via the internet most of the time but I've always liked to pop into a proper game store when out on the high street and have often walked away with an unintended purchase.
  • shame i would have bught a game from them(none of the ones they havementioned that they aren't getting stock of, just something), but i've been in stores and, well, they haven't got anything that isn't either shit or call of duty been on their site too, and the only games i'm interested they have in stock are for ps3, which is no good, can't cross platform co-op portal 2... (also annoying that it's £15 on PS3 and £25 on xbox :bemused: ) and as for the reasons, i believe that they were wanting an option of either pay a little upfront & the rest upon sale of goods, or, pay nothing until goods are sold (as things work with T-shirt companies when a band tours) and those companies have no faith in them surviving, so why would they. seriously though, those stores need to lay off at least half of their staff, one gamestation close to me is about 14 x 21 feet, and last time i visited, there were 5 staff working, and 3 customers....i went in for MSP (and and to use the £6 on my rewards card)
  • @25 Thanks for clearing that up. For the last couple of weeks I've only read reports that are a paragraph or two long without ever really getting into the juicy details. I should've dug deeper.
  • So much hate on this place lately. Isn't it amazing how people on Internet forums profess to know everything about everything? Answer me this, wise ones, if GAME are so money grabbing and making cash hand over fist, why can't they pay their bills? Maybe retail success isn't quite so simple after all. As others have already alluded to, it will be a sad day when we lose a dedicated high street chain which is solely there to feed our demand and love for video games. We don't all want to buy online. Especially pre-owned. How do you know what you'll get? And we don't all want to buy new, all the time. Keen prices to be had online, for sure, but sometimes it's just nice to walk in off the street and browse, finding unexpected bargains. Especially as a break from doing the weekly shop! GAME, you will be missed.
  • Don't leave us GAME! I don't wanna use Gamestation waaaaaaaaaaah!
  • Way off topic but has anyone's gamerscore been reset ? Mine and a few of my friends have had it happen to us,I've never cheated to get any so it can't be that ? On topic the gamestation near me has got some good deals right now !
  • @#34 It's the general lack of understanding/idiocy that annoys me about the people being negative that gets me. The two common points people make are easily answered: "There are too many Game and Gamestation stores near each other" Game and Gamestation were in direct competition with each other. Part of the takeover deal meant no job losses, and the Gamestation brand was kept to seemingly offer choice to casual consumers, whilst keeping brand loyalty for older customers. "Shopto, Amazon and others are cheaper - who cares about Game?" Enjoy the cheap prices now, because when the Guernsey tax trading loopholes get plugged (which will be very soon) then all prices will be what they are in shops now. Hopefully, smaller game shops emerge from the ashes, because it will be a dark day for UK gamers if Game and Gamestation are no longer on the high street.
  • *sings* Buy buy GAMEy, GAMEy buy buy (buy buy GAMEy, buy buy) Buy buy GAMEy, no don't you cry (buy buy GAMEy, buy buy) Or you can change it to bye depending on how you feel on the matter..
  • @34 general idiocy = replying to your own post ;). Aso it will not be a dark dfay for uk gamers if game closes ,i feel for anyone loosing their job but game have bought this on themselves.they were very greedy and know their bubble has burst.
  • Glad I pre-ordered RE:ORC though Zavvi instead of GAME.
  • @34 - You realize that most all online places for video games are here in England, right? The difference in price is that they don't have full retail store rates + rent so the games to have to be marked up so much to factor those things in. Don't spread bullshit misinformation like that. Only Amazon's 'preferred merchant' called Indigo Starfish is based out there (and I think Play were, for a while) and, since news of the Guernsey loophole getting plugged broke, Amazon switched most all their video games to Amazon S.A.R.L., which is their French warehousing (though, coincidentally, they actually ship from their local stock holding hub warehouse in the English midlands). @31 - if it was 'feeding our demand, they wouldn't be going under. They just have no place in the marketplace anymore.
  • @17, Youre from Derby too eh! The thing is the places like Amazon, Shopto.net etc all offer new games are stupidly low prices and you dont need to physically go out and buy the game as you 9.5/10 get it on release day! I mean I had Ultimate MK 2011 the day before it was released in the UK!
  • I don't want to see Gamestation or Game go, I like having somewhere to go to while the missus looks in Next for the tenth time that day! My only option other than looking at clothes with her will be HMV and their prices make me want to slap the people that work there in the face! £35 for UP 3D Blu Ray! Regardless of your opinion of the company it will be bad for them to go, thousands of job losses and even more empty stores on the high street. Online ordering is fine but my post doesn't arrive till 1-2pm so if its a game I'm looking forward to I dont bother with online ordering. I like to be able to pop out and get a new game if I'm bored on a day off.
  • @21 the true reason is they haven't paid their bills. It has nothing to do with pre owned sales. Otherwise it would have affected other shops as well.
  • I literally went into Gamestation today and used up all the money on my card, I got the Skyrim guide, a MW3 tshirt and 300 on Bluray for free xD Plus gave my stepdad the spare fiver I had so he could save money on his guide. My stepdad may have offended the manager there when he walked in and said "I hear your going bust?" and she went mental at him rofl. "I'm sick and tired of hearing this we're not going bust".
  • I hope Game, and Gamestation get bought. It would be a shame of Gamestation as they have good, friendly staff who know what they are talking about in my area. Game are pretty bad, although I did go in there on the Weekend to see if they had KoA:R, and the few staff in there where very helpful. Maybe they found out they might be going bust, and a few of them are trying to do better. I need to spend my credit at Gamestation. Can anyone suggest some good games? I have most of them that have came out recently.
  • Heres an idea that games companies should implement, on used games sales, whichever company that game came from should receive 20% of the price it was sold for. End of moaning, there you go, problem solved for the complaints. Of coarse, this only being in leading used games retailers. Im glad to see game go, and see something new raise hopefully in its place. I have no issues against the used games market, why? Well, what would you do with a game that you buy, then can't get rid of, if it was bad? Just throw it out? What a waste of money that would be, its a way to get some payment back from a letdown. Not everyone has money to buy games first hand, I'm mainly talking about students here of coarse. Save every pound you can when you can. And an off point, although it's sad to see so many jobs go, I couldn't care less about the people at my local game, they are arse wholes, know hardly anything about the games they sell (literally read the back of the box to a customer, and i mean multiple of them, for over a year one of them). Now, I'm gonna grab every cheap game I can from these sales, then, kick back, and see if the next company to step in will repeat games mistakes or not. I actually really hope gamestation will go back to what it was, used to be such a great shop whe it catered to all gamers, rather then just the modern market, when game took over(or the people who own game i should say), they really ruined gamestation.
  • I wouldn't stock those shitty games either.
  • Well I just went to got and get something and spend my points...guess what...my game card conveniently cant be scanned as the mag strip is apparently faulty. They can add points to it but cant use existing credit on it. Bastards!! They will get me a new card but will take 2 - 4 weeks. Like thats going to help!! Sucks that people are going to lose their jobs but so long and goodbye to a waste of my time
