Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two Gets Debut Trailer

Disney has released the debut trailer for Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2, giving us a look at the game’s previously announced features and a peak at revelations yet to come.

In the trailer, which features a chunk of gameplay, you’ll see Mickey and his sidekick Oswald the Rabbit moving through the Cartoon Wasteland, a place for forgotten Disney rides and characters.

You’ll also see Mickey’s brush, the item with which he interacts with the environment, as well as Oswald’s remote control, capable of commanding electricity. These two tools are at the heart of the Epic Mickey 2’s co-op gameplay.

What the trailer doesn’t mention, however, is the fact that Disney are calling Epic Mickey 2, “the first video game that can be described as a ‘musical.’” Apparently, at points throughout the narrative characters will burst into song. Emmy award-winning composer James Dooley and lyricist Mike Himelstein have been called in to help on that front.

Furthermore, the music will change based on the players’ “personal choices,” allowing you to “conduct” your own unique soundtrack. No more info was given than that. Intriguing, eh?

I dunno if I can swing this one if it's a "musical". I can't stand Disney musicals. It's a shame. I was waiting for this to come to Xbox 360 when the original title decided to go Wii only.

Hmmm... I'm not too sure about this, the concept of the game sounds fun, but I wasn't too sure about that gameplay. I will have to hold off for some more footage before I cast any judgement over it!

A musical game, eh? Certainly an intriguing concept. Will have to see how it pans out. Of course, without functional gameplay, it's not going to do very well.

Honestly I wish they'd make a disney RPG game :/ most of the disney games just seem I don't know dull and boring after an hour or two.

"Apparently, at points throughout the narrative characters will burst into song."

This needs to happen in gears of war.

Interesting concept although I hate to break it to disney here but this isn't the first musical game. The game Rhapsody for the psx was the first to do that! It's still good to see someone else try it, add something a little different to the standard game grind today.

Do want Mickey Mouse joins N7 in Mass Effect? No thank you because not right character to be with N7. :D Joke lmao

Do want to see another Mickey Mouse adventure? Yes please of course. Hihihihi hehehe ohohoho :D

Parappa the Rappa was the first musical I played. It was pure musical. Hip hop canine overcomes his daily troubles through the power of song.

I loved the original on Wii, so I am definitely getting this. Especially since I am a huge Oswald fan.

The camera was my biggest gripe with the last one, so I am stoked to see a non-shitty camera after Warren tried telling everyone that the camera was fine.

Having said that, I am actually getting this on Wii, for the sake of being on the same system. All that the 360 version is really going to add is achievements, and I can live without them for this. Maybe down the line I'll buy a second copy for 360, but I am definitely getting it for Wii first.

Cue Thumbs Down, because god forbid. This is the ONLY time I am picking a Wii version over a 360 version of a game.

@9 - That's a rhythm/dance. It's not the same thing. That and Space Channel 5 are not 'musicals' exactly.

Like someone else mentioned, this is more like Rhapsody on PS1.

GT.TV did an exclusive on the game. I have posted a thread about it here.

Looks like it will be really fun.
