Sniper Elite V2
We Shoot Real-Life WWII Sniper Rifles & Talk to Rebellion About Sniper Elite V2

Sniper rifle games seem to be on the way back in if the sales success of Sniper: Ghost Warrior and the subsequent announcements of its sequel and Sniper Elite V2 are anything to go by.

6 years after the original, the sequel, Sniper Elite V2, is just around the corner and with the original developers, Rebellion, on board once again and teaming up with 505 Games, both publisher and developer are hoping to build on the success of said original.

We headed to an unknown location recently to catch up with Rebellion CEO and Creative Director, Jason Kingsley, and Senior Producer, Steve Hart, to talk about their follow-up to the 2006 title, as well as get to grips with some genuine World War II sniper rifles.

After catching up with Rebellion, we headed down to the range to shoot at various targets positioned approximately 100 metres away with both a German Mauser K98 sniper rifle and a 1903 Springfield sniper rifle, both of which can be found in the game.

How did we get on with our first sniper school lesson? What do Kingsley and Hart have to say about their upcoming sniper fest? Find out below.

Beat you couldn't "quickscope" with any of them.

OT: If this game is made right it could be good. I don't think I've ever played a good "sniper" only game.

It really looks like an interesting game! The kill cams do kind of remind me of Fallout Vats mode though.

@1 Lol yeah. You should've ran up to the target at the end of the video, and did a 360 quickscope/noscope Webb. That would've made the video perfect. :)

505 Games is one of worst publishers in world. So I hope this game not screw up because it is look good but Rebellion got lots of awful games recent!! Hard to believe if this one gonna be great but my believe this gonna be other numbers of Rebellion's pile of awful room. I hope wrong but I shall see when game release :P

have you ever played a "good" rebellion game?i dont think so.not on this console.ive played a couple of stinkers already from them.shellshock 2 was so bad it was good.plus it had zombies.besides the game has a very generic ww2 look to it.kinda like the wolfenstein game and fear3.just very basic graphics no style.the world just doesnt come alive for me

Played Sniper Elite when it came out, and it was a seriously kickass game. If that is anything to go by, this'll be a day one purchase for me.

@3 You must not be that old, because they remind me of Max Payne 1 and 2 when using a sniper rifle.

The publishers keep trying new ways to bribe blogs and news webpages. This one is just weird. Also, Rebellion games suck hard.

#7 guns weren't around until the 16th-17th century IRRC, I think I recall hearing that the Chinese may have had one a lot sooner than that, but no, that wouldn't be the oldest form of entertainment. Sorry. It's baby new by comparison to prostitution.

snipe elite 1 was amazing on pc, and this game looks like it could be as good. I hope they include mulitplayer, because I haven't heard them talk about it yet. The 1st one had great multiplayer and it would be great to see some of the old maps in this game

@2 Grow the fuck up.
OT: This looks really cool, but one of the type of game's I'm rubbish at as I can't do tactics, bit like I am hopeless at OP:Flashpoint & OP:Red River. Love how you see the round goes through the skull in like an x ray. Might pick this up and play as much as I can untill I get annoyed then ask my mate to come round and finish it up and just sit back and enjoy the kill cams, lol

Sniper Elite was one of those older games on PC,xbox and PS2 i realy enjoyed it not might had apealed to everyone then but it def had the potential of a great game. Getting a long distance kill and being rewarded with a killcam was def rewarding and fun. So Sniper Elite V2 is def on my list to play when it hits stores in early may.

Their weapons coordinator says that guns have been his life but it looks like both the Mauser and Springfield are just manhandling him. He couldn't even get the round to eject on either of them and it looked like the recoil was about to tear his shoulder off.

Can't wait for the game to see how realistic they can make it.
