Kinect Star Wars
Kinect Star Wars Launch Trailer Forces Its Way In

Microsoft has released the Kinect Star Wars launch trailer, featuring a family gooning about in real world scenarios pretending to be in the Star Wars universe. It’s passable enough.

The game, however, is not, according to the previews. Which is a shame. Nobody seems to have nailed the whole motion controlled Jedi thing just yet. When they do, it’ll be great, but it would seem we’ll have to wait a little longer before that dream comes to pass. Also, the trailer does not feature Mum dressed up like a semi-naked Princess Leia, jumping around to the game’s ludicrous dance bits. 3/10.

Kinect Star Wars is out on April 3rd and April 6th in North America and Europe respectively.

If it's on par with SW: The Force Unleashed II, then I will enjoy it. Just a matter of finding room to set up the Kinect sensor.

Gutted about this, they really have missed a huge opportunity here. The dance thing was probably an add on after realising they had messed up the core idea.

An engaging Jedi storyline would have been far more engaging that a bunch of minigames.

I enjoy my Kinect, but thus far it continues to be a party tool as opposed to changing my gaming experience.

We still await top quality core titles.

Will need to play a demo before I make any judgements. The pod racing looks fun enough to play on its own. Loved pod racing on the N64. Probably the only good thing to come out of Episode 1

If at some point the Kinect gets some good games that actually use it in a way that doesn't make the people playing it look like they should be locked up, this is probably something I would end up picking up cheap, but it's not the Kinect pusher I was hoping it would be. Gotta love the R2-D2 360 though, that thing is awesome.

what a terriable article. we should be embracing kinect. north america has the highest obesity rate in the world. #1 killer is heart attacks. thats even over wars, conflicts & all sorts of other stuff.

as for this game, i've pre ordered mine. i'll be my own judge, jury, extra. i have over 20 kinect games. most of them are great. only a small few were not good. overall kinect is alot of fun to play. it keeps you healthy & active. i'll find out a week from tuesday. this game just keeps looking better all the time. shame so many want to hate a great game only because its on kinect.

they took extra time to ensure both lucas & MS were satisfied. so i doubt very much MS wants crap on there device. it looks as if MS is going to make sure this game runs smoothly. hate kinect all you want. you cant stop progress, quote from movie "hardware".

I played this for three hours last month and I would give it a 6/10, unless they changed the problems. I think the only thing people are going to remember is the special edition Xbox.

@19 - Kinect is not going to change your diet and exercise enough to reduce the average risk of heart disease and death. Just sayin'. The only Kinect game I have played that gave me any sort of workout would be Fruit Ninja when there are a million fruit on the screen at once.

Also, it is "judge, jury, and executioner."

This trailer won me over! who hasn`t, at one point in their life, pretended a flashlight is a lightsaber? (If you haven't you have no soul and should go back to living under your bridge and shaking your fist at things)I don't mind a little Star Wars dancing either....but C-3PO can move better than me...

This exclusive console loos like a 5 year pasted stickers on it, pure garbage, you wanna see a REAL R2-D2 Console go to youtube and type in r2-d2 xbox360, and watch the one that actually projects a 50" picture out of his dome, and all the other goodies, I would pay whatever price the maker of that put on it, its that sweet!. This new console is garbage

I'd only play it for the podracing. Loved the one that came out for the 64. The rest of the game... ehh not so much. What happened Lucasarts? Battlefront 3? KotOR 3? Jedi Knight series? Seriously, who runs the show over there?

George Lucas runs the show "over there", which is why Star Wars is the way it is today. He has said many times in interviews that he is making it over in his original image for the series, and he really does not give a shit about what the consumer thinks about it. When people say that George Lucas has ruined star wars by removing it from the original, they are actually wrong, because the crapfest that is emerging now is what Lucas wanted it to be from the start. Remember, there was no digital technology or graphics computers in 1977, and almost no budget for "A New Hope." I guarantee that if there had been the technology back then, Lucas would have made A New Hope into the Phantom Menace from the start, and there would be no Star Wars franchise today. It is times like these that make this Star Wars fan want to cry.

Okay honestly this is yet another in a long line of cash ins on an overly played series, that while amazing in its own right, is unfairly being milked to death to the point people are somewhat growing tired of it.
Games that were enjoyable, Rogue Squadron and Battlefront, and revisions of the original films such as the Special Edition were awesome to experience, but now with the films being re-re-released in 3D and their attempt (very much stress attempt because anyone can see the obviousness that the actors in the trailers are happy only because they were paid, and not because of the game itself) at a controller-free game aren't bettering the series. I know that it was a somewhat good idea but honestly this just needs to stop.

Then again I blame the consumer for being foolish enough to buy into things like this and not save their money for games and things that are far superior than something that we've either seen before or just isn't that good. Why does George Lucas keep milking the Star Wars series? Because the public cant say no to it.
