It's official, Call of Duty 4 is one of the most successful FPS titles of all time. A recent report confirmed that the stellar title has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide, a milestone that is hardly ever hit in the FPS genre. Last reports put Halo 3 on just over 8 million copies sold, so it shows, that a killer title can knock the shit out of hype every day of the week.
Infinity Ward says that they are one of "less than 10" games to do that since 2000 and should be acknowledged that was without even trying to sell it on the Wii. Infinity Ward studio chief, Vince Zampella agreed with our sentiments though and that is that Call of Duty 4 "just doesn't fit"on the Wii.
What does the future hold for the Call of Duty series? Can it become a household name like GTA or Halo? Hopefully, Treyarch can replicate the success of Call of Duty 4 by making an even better follow up title and take the series to a new level. But after seeing the way the series went from Call of Duty 2 to Call of Duty 3, we're not holding our breath.
