Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Splinter Cell: Blacklist Trailer is Short, Sweet

There’s a new trailer doing the rounds for Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Entirely CG and completely ace, the vid shows Fisher zipping around doing his thing. The best bit is when he inverse rappels down a building and silently clips a grenade to a bloke standing in a window. Oh and the cute little robo greande spy thing too. That looked cool.

The trailer is a re-edited, shorter version of the one shown at E3. You can watch it here.

So that's all lovely then. But the trouble is, the game itself isn't quite so encouraging. Rich previewed it at E3 and said, “Blacklist just doesn't feel like Splinter Cell at present. Perhaps our fears will be allayed when we get the chance to go hands-on with the game.” Ouch. You can read the full preview here.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is due in Spring 2013.

I CAN'T WAIT ! Looks pretty solid to me, and Conviction was brilliant.

I know people are upset about the action, but everything they've shown does seem to rely on Sam using the element of surprise.

I don't like the lack of Michael Ironside. I understand why they want to use the same actor for both VO and Mocap, (to have the performance stay *in* the scene), but the fact is that as soon as they provide the VO for multiple languages, that goes right out the window with a grenade strapped to it. I also don't like the way he climbs the rockface in the gameplay trailer - it looks odd.

I think they really should have put Sam behind a desk and had a new character out in the field. That would have made more sense not only for the use of the younger actor, but also for the character.

Having said all that, I did enjoy conviction so I am looking forward to this. It might not be Chaos Theory, but it should still be fun.

I hope the game is as bad-ass as the trailer, looks like quality to me, and I'm not even really that much of a clancy fan.

@10 You should play them, well worth it if you like stealth games. Different to Conviction, a lot less action. The closest thing to the first SC games on Convcition is Hunter mode. Waiting in the shadows, watching guards movements and taking them out 1 by 1 without alerting anyone else.

I'm looking forward to this. I've loved all SC games and thought Conviction was great. They've addressed some of the issues I did have with it (like being able to hide bodies, hoping standard night vision is back as well) and it looks like it will be a lot of fun. Not happy about the lack of Michael Ironside, but if the game is good enough it hopefully won't matter. I'll just pretend he had a son and it's Sam Fisher Jnr.

Forced killing ain't good. One of my favourite things about the original Splinter Cell games was sneaking through the whole game, only being noticed at sections where conflict is unavoidable due to story progression.

@6, I'm with you. One of my biggest pet peeves in games (and movies) is when an actor gets replaced. Same thing is happening in Hitman Absolution. Though it'll never prevent me from playing these games.

The game could be good if it was not a splinter cell game.

Sc conviction was a good game no doubt about it but certainly not a good SC.

My only issue is, it's not a Splinter Cell game anymore... I've played every single one, but they've become less shows and stealth as they go on!

This being the worst!

@17 You tell can that the WHOLE game is going to be all action and no stealth from the few minutes of footage we've seen? That's very clever.
Why not wait until the game is out and you can actually see for yourself before brushing it off as a crap game that is nothing like the original Splinter Cell games????
