Thief 4 Footage Slips Out of the Shadows

Footage of Eidos Montreal’s Thief 4 has leaked onto the net, featuring the return of what would appear to be series regular Garrett.

The footage comes from a demo reel belonging to lighting and compositing artist Eric Wong. It features a number of familiar elements, including lock picking and a bow with custom, speciality arrows. More than likely not meant for public consumption, it's also frustratingly brief at just 30 seconds long. We want more!

Thief 4 was announced in May 2009, but has been largely silent since. Worryingly, since that time a stream of the game’s talent has left Eidos Montreal, leading to fears that it may be trapped in development hell.

They should make a game where you invade development hell and liberate games like this.

No mention at E3, now a leak.

The forgotten forefather of many modern stealth games. It's about time.

@1, I haven't found it yet so I don't know what actually is in it but there is a dungeon in Diablo III called Development Hell.

If this picks up and actually is looking like it's getting made, I think I'll have to go and pick up the old ones again. =)

@1 - The only problem is that game would get stuck in development hell.

I miss the Thief games, they were far more engaging, challenging and interesting than any other fps game, and so many modern games took influence from them.

@17 well it was going to be its a trailer not a in game video.

You tourist!! It's "Thief: The Dark PROJECT!"

I have been playing the Thief series for YEARS! I also have "Thief II: The Metal Age" and, of course... "Thief: Deadly Shadows" (on PC & Xbox).

I only hope that they will release ALL of the first three on the 360 with improved graphics - and achievements, as a "Games On Demand" version, or a boxed-set on disc.

I've been waiting for a fourth outing of the series, ever since finishing "Deadly Shadows." I just hope it won't require Kinect!

I would be looking really forward to this if only recent stealth games had not all been scrapped and made into "splinter cell: modern warfare" & "hitman: kill'em all"
