Do you like The Fast and the Furious and it's various sequels? Then you'll probably love the forthcoming Need for Speed movie winging its way to multiplexes, thanks to a deal in which DreamWorkds Studios has snapped up the feature film rights of EA's popular racing franchise.
Acto of Valor director Scott Waugh is attached to the Need for Speed movie, with a script penned by brothers George and John Gatins based upon the Need for Speed series as a whole, rather than a specific game. The press release claims that the movie will be "fast-paced and high octane" as well as "rooted in tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise."
Production on the Need for Speed movie is set to commence early next year, for a 2014 release. Meanwhile, the next Need for Speed game is Criterion's Most Wanted, set to launch on October 30th in North America and November 2nd in Europe. You can read our latest hands-on preview from E3 here.
