Rocksteady Reportedly Working on Silver Age Batman: Arkham City Prequel

In what could be a bit of a shock move, Rocksteady Studios is apparently considering a prequel story for the follow-up to Batman: Arkham City, taking a break from that game's cliffhanger ending to visit the caped crusader's 1950s Silver Age comic book era, when Bats' cowl was bluer than usual.
According to Variety, the Batman: Arkham City prequel could take players all the way back to the Dark Knight's very first encounter with the Joker, with its visual style inspired by the 1950s comic books. Want an idea of what that might look like? You can already play as 1970s Batman with his blue cowl and cape as an extra DLC skin in Arkham City.
Will Rocksteady retain the dark and brooding nature of modern day Batman if these rumours prove to be true, or will we be seeing the 'Pow!' 'Zokk!' and 'Newt!' daftness of the '60s Batman TV series starring Adam West? We'll wait and see whether Warner Bros. confirms any of this before we start speculating too much.
