What's best? Rocksmith, Guitar Hero, or Rock Band?Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 04:57 AM
Rock Band.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:00 AM
wowowow! :)Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:01 AM
Guitar Hero in my opinion although I'd have to give credit to Rock Band for song choice because of the DLC.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:07 AM
Lee gets a cookie for that PE reference.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:11 AM
@1 - I have to say Rock Band.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:17 AM
Tbh there's no comparison. Actually playing a guitar in rocksmith is a completely different ballpark from playing a controller in RB or GH. If you want realism, go for Rocksmith. If realism isn't your thing, choose one of the others. Personally I have GH. But I hear good things about Rockband. I don't think you'll regret your choice, regardlesss of which you choose. Being in the UK I still have to wait for Rocksmith. But I have already placed my preorder. My hope is that I will never have to play another RB or GH style game again. Not because of their quality, as I love playing them. But I really want the 'Use your own real guitar' approach to become mainstream.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:25 AM
No no no no no, it teaches you how to play the bass riffs. Playing guitar and bass guitar is similar, but playing bass correctly is completely different to playing guitar.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:28 AM
I need to get this game, I haven't heard much about it in the UK. Why does the box at the side say it's released in Europe October 19 2102?Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:50 AM
id say this is a much better concept than either GH or rockmband... however its the first and so they are at a bit of a disadvantage since your comparing tit to 2 series with countless releases also @8 i completely agree hey loose major points for thinking you can emulate a bass on a 6 stringFriday, August 10, 2012 @ 05:53 AM
@9 because that's when it's going to be released in europe?Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 06:44 AM
I've been waiting for this for ages!Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 09:16 AM
@1 Rock Band has the best set list cause the keep adding hands down but Rocksmith is toward the people that want to learn how to play guitar. I have both of them and RockSmith can boring really quick.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 10:18 AM
wow i would have expected the option to choose bass to come with the original game. Pretty awful that you need to pay $30 for itFriday, August 10, 2012 @ 10:54 AM
This game actually teaches you to play?Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 11:22 AM
It does teach you to play. Real exercises are turned into mini games and it adjusts to your speed. At first you may only play single notes and only quarters and eights, which are one or two notes per bar. It really does help. Some of the mini games help with finger independence. A demo would be nice for many people but the guitar cable is like 30 bucks alone.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 12:12 PM
@15 As much as I love to play Rocksmith, I don't think it's safe to say the game "teaches" you how to play, rather it shows you what to play. Granted, there are videos in the game too that will show you how to do certain techniques and etc. If you're new to the guitar or bass, like me, then it's best to still use traditional methods to "learn" such as books, online lessons, and people to jam with in real life. But Rocksmith is an awesome game that really lets you improve and show off (even to just yourself) your abilties, while making it incredibly fun and not as tedious as sitting down with a book and playing scales to a metronome.Friday, August 10, 2012 @ 01:03 PM
No offense but this is a bit old, like the new achievements, i hope you can update the list soonFriday, August 10, 2012 @ 02:12 PM
cause everybody forgets about rock bands pro modeFriday, August 10, 2012 @ 02:52 PM
@1 for learning guitar...Rocksmith by far!Saturday, August 11, 2012 @ 07:14 AM
I would really hope that the European release includes this bass DLC for free, given the amount of time we've had to wait.Saturday, August 11, 2012 @ 09:44 AM
Hope there is an option for an actual bass.Sunday, August 12, 2012 @ 02:20 PM
Grr 29.99 is expensive.Tuesday, August 14, 2012 @ 09:05 PM
They are releasing an updated version of Rocksmith on October 16 in the US that uses both Guitar and Bass for $79.99. This is just DLC to upgrade people that already own the original to include Bass. And yes you can use an actually Bass Guitar to play the Bass part of the game.

Ubisoft has announced some new DLC for Rocksmith, allowing users to learn the bass guitar.
The DLC will include vids and a series of challenges and mini-games designed for the instrument. It’ll even allow you to use a normal six string to emulate playing a four string bass.
Bass tracks for all of Rocksmith’s 53 tracks will be supported, in addition to any downloaded tracks you may have.
The Bass Expansion hits on August 14th for $29.99. Rocksmith is already out in the US and is due to hit Europe in September.
