A couple of Foreigner’s biggest hits come to Rock Band next week, in all their cheesy, power ballad glory.

First up is “I Want To Know What Love Is,” from the 1984 album, Agent Provocateur, which reached number one in both the United Kingdom and North America in the 80s. It’s joined by “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” from the band’s fourth studio record, 4.

In addition to this, you can also grab Nightwish’s “Amaranth” from 2007‘s Dark Passion Play. Apparently, the Finnish symphonic metal group are consistently among the top 10 most requested artists in the Rock Band Dashboard application

Full details below:

Single Tracks - 160 Microsoft Points each. X = 80 Microsoft Points per track for a Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade O= support for keyboards

  • Foreigner – “I Want to Know What Love Is” O
  • Foreigner – “Waiting for a Girl Like You” O
  • Nightwish – “Amaranth” O X

(All tracks are original master recordings)

Look out for them on the Xbox Live Marketplace from August 14th.

Foreigner is always welcome, but from the title I was hoping for some White Stripes

Woo Nightwish

I'm probably going to get thumbs down for this but I wish they'd add some Hollywood Undead or some Zebrahead to the RBN at least.

Nightwish is good though I would have preferred Tarja Nightwish. Hopefully this opens the doors for more symphonic metal like Epica or Therion for example.

@11 - Harmonix has always said they wanted to create a game that lets you play music...for real. If you go back to old interviews the CEO and Devs always talked about creating software to be used as a tool that would teach you how to play a real instrument and etc. In secret, I think they've been working on this all along. They came out with the Pro Mode for RB3, which is a step in the right direction.

But I fully expect them to build upon what Rocksmith has done, and create something even greater than any feature we've seen.

Is there a reason why no songs from the Double Vision album, besides Hot Blooded, are on Rock Band?

As if Foreigner isn't enough reason to buy more points, I've been waiting since they announced the first Rock Band for a Nightwish song! I like Aramanth, but I would prefer Bye Bye Beautiful or Cadence Of Her Last Breath. It would be nice to have a little Tarja though, like Forever Yours, Ever Dream, Nemo etc. Ghost Love Score would be epic @15

The Foreigner stuff is a definite purchase next week. Mind you, I would've preferred Long Long Way From Home, Double Vision & the genuine version of Juke Box Hero. You'll notice that I prefer their 70s stuff over the Mutt Lange produced 80s stuff.

I'm also glad to see a Nightwish track in there. The problem is that Annette is generally perceived as Blaze Bailey to Tarja's Bruce Dickinson (in other words, a Replacement Scrappy. see also: Owens, Tim "Ripper"). I agree with #15, and I'd also like to mention Romanticide, The Siren, Wishmaster, Sacrament of Wilderness and Beauty of the Beast as Nightwish songs I'd love to see in Rock Band 3.
