More news on Halo 4‘s multiplayer modes was revealed at PAX Prime this weekend, including the revised versions of Capture the Flag and Grifball.
For those that don’t know, Grifball started life as a community-made mod. It’s a bit like American Football, with teams of players attempting to take a ball into designated spots in their opponent’s area.
In Halo 4, Grifball will allow attackers to throw and catch the ball, while defenders can make use of either a Gravity Hammer or an Energy Sword. Kill someone with the hammer and the ball goes flying, or kill someone with the sword and you automatically gain possession.
A revised version of Oddball also includes the catching and throwing mechanic.
Meanwhile, Capture the Flag has also been revised somewhat, with the addition of a new weapon called the “Flagnum.” When you have the flag in one hand and the Flagnum in the other, you can use the flag as a melee weapon, impaling your opponents with it. Nice.
