Wreckateer only 6629 people downloaded it ?!? Whattt Incredible.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:26 AM
Spelunky only sold 17,818?! I recommend that game to everyone. It's one of my favourites, ever.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:28 AM
I've played CS GO with 2 alt accounts so using leaderboards as an estimated sales figure is redundant. :)Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:32 AM
It's very simple Microsoft. First of all, most of those games just aren't very good (Deadlight & Dust are an exception in my opinion). And all of those games except Wreckateer are 1200MP each. People are just waiting for them to go on sale for 800MP or less. Last but not least, Kinect is ass therefore Wreckateer had no chance to begin with.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:34 AM
Csgo is good but none of the soa games were great. Mine craft just came out so comon sense no ones gunna get off mine craft to play thoseFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:36 AM
I was annoyed with Deadlight as I managed to complete it and get all the collectibles in under 3 hours. Seriously hope my cash is better placed with Dust: An Elysian Tail.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:40 AM
Wreckateer looks like a kid's Kinect game and I think it's mainly male adults that buy stuff from XBLA. And, like @4 mentioned, I bet Tony Hawk, Deadlight and Dust will sell well when they're on sale (DotW or Christmas/New Year sales).Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:42 AM
@ 4 Totally agree, most of these games didn't even have the same hype as some of the previous SoA years. (Especially now that 1200 is the new "norm" for XBLA pricing!) MineCraft, Spelunky, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, and CS:GO would've been a better SoA by far.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:44 AM
Hopefully Dust picks up a few more thousand sales from sensible gamers. One of the best XBLA games I've ever played, and I say that without a hint of hyperbole.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:45 AM
It's not difficult to see why. This console generation is closing out, which means sales are probably lower than usual to begin with. Wreckateer being a Kinect game certainly didn't help its odds. The real killer is that Wreckateer just isn't that good of a game. I mean, Dust: An Elysian Tail is credited by more than a few people for singlehandedly saving Summer of Arcade this year for a reason.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:47 AM
Overpriced shit games. Would anyone expect them to do better?Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:48 AM
@7 I'd agree. People who buy from XBLA seem to be the more informed among the community, and that generally means consumers that are 20 years+. A couple of my friends with LIVE connected consoles don't even have a notion what XBLA is, which is a damn shame.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:50 AM
To be fair, this states that it tracks the number of people that log an entry on the leaderboards in the first week, not the number of sales each game actually had - just in this SoA promotion I've bought games that I havent started yet, and regularly buy games throughout the year when they pop up in a sale and don't start them for months in some cases. Of these, I've logged time on Deadlight and TH, but haven't touched Dust yet, so add a +1 to that figure for me!Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:51 AM
Disappointed Dust didn't sell well. It was the only high quality title in the line up this year, in my opinion. Played it at a friend's and bought it straight away. This year was definitely a weak one though. Previous SoA events had at least 3 really good games.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:51 AM
I didn't buy any of them this year, nothing interested me enough to lay down the points. Oddly enough I purchased The Expendables 2 game when I came home pissed after watching the film. Go figure!Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:55 AM
Disappointing. I really enjoyed Dust and Deadlight.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:59 AM
think microoft need to look at what ps+ members get, they get top games at just £40 a year, dead space 2, red dead, infamous and a lot more.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:59 AM
Imo those games just weren't that good & 1200msp is just to much for them when there's a global recession going on & many people cant afford to buy games.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:00 AM
Haha, fuck you Wreckateer. Kinect shovelware.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:01 AM
I don't buy anything on XBLA until it goes on sale. The sales are usually half off, which means twice the games, and I already have a huge backlog to deal with, so I'm in no rush to buy $15 games no matter how good they seem. I will buy Dust when it goes on sale, and probably Deadlight, too. Hell, I might even get Wreckateer at 400 points or less... I've simply been trained to wait far too well.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:02 AM
What do they expect they're over priced as fuck, if they wanted decent SoA sells they'd of put CS:GO over wreckateer in the lineup.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:03 AM
Considering that Microsoft doesn't really advertise XBLA games on the home page of the dashboard, plus these games were all way overpriced, obvious cow is obvious.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:05 AM
Dust was a fantastic game and if they sorted the frame rate issues out id buy a full retail release. Deadlight was okay but not worth the 1200 points i paid. Tony Hawks was great for a bit of nostalgia but it didnt last long. Didn't touch the other two.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:10 AM
Will this convince MS to start reducing shovelware? Take a blind guess.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:10 AM
It's because of the prices mostly. With everything we have to pay to just qualify for these kind of offers, Microsoft really should have giveaways every so often.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:12 AM
I agree with #7. Wreckateers target audience was way too low.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:13 AM
presetsFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:15 AM
Maybe because the quality of titles was so depressingly bad this year. The only one I picked up was Dust.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:18 AM
To be fair to Wreakateer its now at 15,699 but still not as good as previous EventsFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:27 AM
Dust was fantastic. Regardless of how many people registered on the leaderboards or whatever dull stat this is. That reminds me , they owe me 400 msp.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:30 AM
Like some have said, I very rarely buy a game at full price when it comes out unless theres something I really want to play, I have the points, or don't have anything else to play at the time. I pretty much always wait for sales and price drops. I'll definitely be getting Deadlight and Dust. Hopefully by the Christmas sale.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:36 AM
I'm just sick of paying 1200 points. I won't buy arcade games till they go on sale.. If they don't, fine by me.. I don't need to play them.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:37 AM
sorry but a bunch of unheard of games on sale just didnt do it for me....Im sure some are gems, but put stuff on sale I want to buy.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:44 AM
dust is a very good game still need to get the full version really enjoyed the trial. it was made by one guy aswell so one guy saved the SoA, thats amazing.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:49 AM
drop the price tag, will buy thenFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:55 AM
@33 They are new games, not 'a bunch of unheard of games on sale'.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:57 AM
I had a lot of fun playing wreckateer with the kids. Picked up dust and deadlight for myself and thought both were pretty good. Dust definately the pick. Not really concerned about the price, it really is not much money if you have a job.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:00 AM
1200 ms price tag = fail. 15 dollars for a game that has about 10 hours of game play is completely ridiculous...not to mention it's a digital arcade title. Arcade games shouldn't be priced over 800 MS points, EVER, for ANY reason. Dust was a great game but even for 1200 ms I wasn't too happy about purchasing it. The only selling factor was that it played like a Metroidvania style game and the art direction was incredible. I over looked the 1200 ms price tag because of these two factors...in the end it was worth the 15 dollars but only because of it's quality. Deadlight and Tony Hawk are worth 800 NOT 1200 and that other tripe, maybe 560 at best. Microsoft is yet again ripping people off, I'm glad not too many people fell for their summer of rip-off scam this year.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:02 AM
I enjoyed Tony Hawk very much, was looking forward to Deadlight before I played it :(Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:09 AM
Some Arcadegames are very overpriced with only a little bit of content. Almost nothing feels new or unique, yet they don't feel familiar in a good way. Portal, CS:GO, Super Meat Boy... Those are good games at a good price. Except for Portal, wich costs 15$ while you can get the entire Orange Box for only 12$...Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:17 AM
@38 Castle Crashers Check and MateFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:25 AM
Dust is a masterpiece, i wasnt sure about then i tried the demo and 400gs later i will remember one of the best xbla with joy. Kinect only games can gtfo hopefully this was a good hint for ms. THPSHD was atrocius aswellFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:26 AM
Mark of the Ninja was not 800ms points even thou you said it whould be -.- i wanted that game. but will not get it now.. not worth 1200p atm. can get some deals insted. saw ruskuls for 400msp. get that insted. is Mark of the Ninja was 800 it whould be a no brainer. :(Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:32 AM
and btw. bout spelunky on reales date. and that game is one of the best xbla games ever. so sad to se it didn't do better :/ hope it will sell more sone.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:37 AM
I remember when the 360 first came out and you could gat games for 400mp points and big games were 800mp. now even the most mediocre games are being released for 1200mp. for that price I can go into a shop and get a decent older full retail game.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:48 AM
Dust was my favourite. I have to admit it is hard to beat previous years. Bastion is still my favourite arcade game, it's even up there with full retail games. ah the memories :)Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:02 AM
Maybe this will show Microsoft we don't want kinect arcade games =P lolFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:17 AM
Every single one of these games generated ZERO interest for me.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:20 AM
An arcade title has to be something I already enjoyed playing (whether that is a card game, a hd remake, sequel, etc) or something that really catches my eye. Dust looks like a decent game, but I have no interest in it. Tony Hawk...well, there are a lot of ps1/2 era games I'd buy a HD remake of...but a skating game isn't one of them >_> That's almost as silly as having an HD remake of Madden 96.... I actually had interest in Hybrid.....until I played the demo. Looked interesting at first, but the limited movement killed it for me. Maybe next year there will be something I find worthwhile and am interested in playing. Wreckateer...well lol. I'd have rather paid for any of the 3 free games that Doritos put out over the past few years than that. Probably a decent game for younger kids to play and what not, but definitely not aimed at the core audience who have control over their MS points and purchases. I think the months before SOA were much better. Of course there was Minecraft, but even I Am Alive and Bloodforge interested me enough to warrant a demo playthrough (both of which I will probably pick up when they're on sale).Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:22 AM
Im not surprised. The Tony Hawk demo was terrible, Deadlight was 3 hours long, Dust is a furry game and the others are stupid kiddy games. Rock Band Blitz should have been the final title in the event. Its more FUN than any of the others.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:23 AM
Basicly it's the price and the discount people know is coming. Per example I liked Alan Wake but I didn't buy Alan Wake AM, why? Because of this week, it was dropped to 600 MSP instead of 1200. And now I do own it. I will buy Deadlight and Dust no doubt. But not at 1200 points. 800 yes, 1200 no.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:24 AM
@49 Bloodforge is on sale this week (50% off)Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:32 AM
I think Microsoft needs to know that pricing all the SoA games, bar one, at 1200msp isn't going to sell in these difficult times and Wackateer might have sold better if it wasn't Kinect only.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:32 AM
@38, Minecraft, that game alone in its current state has ALLOT of play value, never mind when it's updated to be up with the pc version, all that was have so far compared is a glorified demo, but that'll be changing soon enough. Some games are worth the 1200 price tag, some, but Microsoft needs to take a step back with pricing. Especially with Games on Demand, good god those prices are abysmal most of the time. They shouldn't be able to get away with charging £40, or even £50 that I've seen on some games, when there is no distribution, handling, displaying costs to justify being over £30.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:36 AM
microsoft thinks everyone is rich and games that have 3-4 of gameplay are worth 1200 msp.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:39 AM
@4 has the right idea...thats pretty much what I was going to write word for word.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:47 AM
I'm not surprised at Wreckateer's numbers strictly because it's hardware dependent. If you don't have a Kinect you aren't going to download it and you are going to buy a Kinect simply for 1 arcade game. Although I rather enjoyed Wreckateer and it's "angry birds on steroids" gameplay not to mention a rather challenging achievement list especially getting all golds. I am surprised at Spelunky though. A very addicting and difficult game. However, once achievement whores realized how difficult completing the game with 400/400 might have been they probably steered clear especially with Speedlunky and To Hell and Back. However, for those looking for a fun, challenging, and never boring game Spelunky is definitely an outstanding choice. Never playing the same levels again definitely makes it very high on replay value!!!Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 09:57 AM
I am REALLY disappointed that Dust: An Elysian Tale didn't sell as well as I'd have liked, it is a wonderful little gem. How can people continue to whine about a stunted industry when they buy into the same crap yet let jewels like this slip buy?Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:02 AM
This actually makes me really sad.. Back when I first got my xbox360, I would buy the heck out of 400 and 800 point games. My console is loaded with arcade classics. But now that I'm mid 20's and have a job, and enough money to buy mostly full retail games, the summer, which is usually dreadfully slow for retail games, I reserve for XBLA games. But now I'm not finding the value in them when they shovel out crappy games that aren't worth 1200 and 1600 points.. I don't mind paying that much for Castle Crashers and Minecraft, but none of these games are worth what they're charging.. It just makes me sad that it's become the norm for me to just overlook all arcade titles.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:13 AM
I'm waiting also for a sale on deadlightFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:21 AM
If you have Kinect, you need to get your hands on Wreckateer. By far the best Kinect title to date. Seriously surprised by these numbers. Besides Tony Hawk, no interest in any of the others. Deadlight seemed promising but the reviews weren't convincing enough.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:26 AM
Also, for all you people saying Wreckateer is a kids game, have clearly not played it. I find it to be well worth the money and does a great job of showing off Kinect's good side. However, I do agree it should have been listed as "better with Kinect" allowing controller capabilites; eventhough, that would take most of the fun out of it.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:29 AM
This SoA was not that good. Deadlight wasn't very good and that was the killer for this summer. Dust I've not played that much of and I think Hybrid was the best game and that says a lot.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:30 AM
"THIS JUST IN: Established IP sells more than new IP. Welp, bye." - Lee Bradley.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:42 AM
I don't know I have a lot of fun with Wreckateer...but, that's just me. It's not perfect, but I do think it's fun. I got that one and Dust...But, overall I thought this was a pretty weak crop of games. I think poeople make too much of the promotions though..I don't care if it's SoA, or Block party or whatever else promotion they say...If it looks good I download the demo if I like what I played I buy it. The good thing with digital downloads...No need to worry about supply and demand it's always there for the taking!!Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:43 AM
I would have bought Deadlight on day one if it hadn't been so massively overpriced. 1200 points for a game that everyone was saying could be finished in 4 hours? Do one Microsoft.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:43 AM
#63: "and that says alot." Please expand, this isn't Twitter, explain yourself. I find HYBRID to be a fantastic game with more maps and a larger arsenal than GOW 3 and the weapons are actually balanced. I've sunk 17 hours into it and fully intend to play much more. Loads of players have mics. Forming a party is easy. Teamwork is actually effective in threes when you don't have additional shitturds ruining the game. Etc. I could go on but the word count...Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:44 AM
I did played and enjoyed Deadlight. Maybe get Spelunky and Dust when deals of the week or retail game releases become quiet because I not feel want play them for moment. Also I did busy with Sleeping Dogs, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Darksiders II and Risen 2, all those released last month which is why I not want play Dust. But still will get Dust and Spelunky one day. I did played trials for both and both are great. Hopeful next year Summer of Arcade will be better.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:47 AM
#63: Not ONE complaint I've heard about HYBRID seems valid at all. "you're superglued to cover". WRONG. You can fly about back and forth at will, changing direction and destination mid-flight. "Limited movement" Oh, do you stand out in the open in Max Payne 3/Gears Of War 3? Probably not. 5th Cell cut the fat out of your typical 3PS,cover based shooter to create a fast-paced shooter that works great at Close quarters, long range and everything in between. Yet it was met with apathy and cynicism. even by this site. My mind fucking BOGGLES.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:50 AM
That said I can understand why a 1200MSP price tag would turn anyone off, even from a visual aspect the 4th digit has to effect people subconsciously from reach to their wallets. Plus, knowing the inevitable 50% off sale is coming I'm holding off on other SOA titles as well. Just picked up Alan Wake: American Nightmare this week for the above reasons. Deadlight, looks and plays like the poor 2D platformer it is. Way to fall for the image suckers.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:08 AM
Sales underwhelm because games underwhelm. Pretty simple.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:17 AM
Maybe they should start pricing games at 800 again.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:21 AM
i think this SoA2012 was not exciting as the previous SoA. and the game quality is a little 'drop' somehow, as for Deadlight im expecting something that can stand-out 'Limbo' but it didn't.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:24 AM
I still haven't received my 400 points for purchasing three of the SoA games :(Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:30 AM
Tony Hawk was such a letdown.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:44 AM
Next year's Summer of Arcade: Free for Gold subscribers. That'd be a win.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:50 AM
I bought Wreckateer, good fun game if you like those party sorta games, will definately buy Dust, just waiting for the inevitable price drop.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 12:13 PM
@74 They said it would take 4-6 weeks after the promotion ended which I believe was August 27th. So it's been about 2 weeks. In another 2-4 weeks hopefully we should see it on the pending points list on the rewards page.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 12:15 PM
I bought all five, had a blast with each. I'm still playing Dust, Hybrid and Wreckateer, too.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 12:23 PM
It was a very weak SoA. Although I still haven't played the trial of Dust - I should get to that. The rest of the games were not worth the price.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 12:24 PM
i was excited about Deadlight until I saw the negative reviews. Even then I would have still purchased it based on some positive reviews, but the price kept me away for the time being. @76 would be great if they did a promotion where if you signed up for a gold account you got a free game/arcade game kinda like Nintendo Power used to do where if you signed up you received a free copy of Dragon Quest (best promotion ever)Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 12:32 PM
Hopefully this is a little bit of a wake yp call that asking 1200 MSP for a title is too much. Personally I am happy that they didn't sell all that well just due to that alone. I have no idea how good and of them are, aside from Deadlight, but price certainly affects sales.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 12:58 PM
I didn't buy a single game from the SoA. Did look at Dust, and I would be interested in owning it, just I can't justify spending 1200msp on a game right now. Last XBLA game I bought was Minecraft, and that's because I knew I would get a LOT of replay value after getting all the achievements. I'd rather spend my money on retail games in all fairness.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 01:27 PM
The price of the games weren't the problem. Minecraft has sold over 3.5 million copies and it's 1600pts, Trials Evolution has over 800,000 leaderboard entries last I looked and it's 1200pts. The SoA games were just underwhelming and none were a "must have" games. That want better sales, they needed better games. Pretty simple.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 02:01 PM
i think that this website should copy & paste this to MS. clearly MS doesnt understand its customers & what we want. its clear to me why SOA did so poorly. first its the over priced games! seriously no game is worth 2400pts! if you're gonna charge 1200pts. it better be as good as shivering isles was! next proablem, poor titles. wreekateer is a joke to me. i wanted crimson dragon for kinect. instead we got this crap! so kinect wise they should have given us crimson dragon. which sadly is only in japan. i would also like to mention. i wanted fire pro wrestling too. again anouther title exclusive to japan. so its clear to see that MS isnt in touch with its customers. i love kinect & gaming in general. i'm 45yrs old. so give us decently priced, top quality games. i think customers are saying no to high priced games! for the first time customers are sending a clear signal to MS. give us top quality games. price them reasonably or dont get our money! i hope MS is paying attention now!Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 02:40 PM
I'm just shocked that there are more than 6000 people worldwide still playing with that kinect catastropheFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 02:51 PM
Maybe that will give MS second thoughts about paying up for Shitnect games nistead of core ones LOL. I must say the only one I bought was Deadlight, but might pickk up Dust if time allows=)Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 02:59 PM
What a surprise. Overprice shitty games and nobody buys them.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 03:02 PM
@86 Look at Angry birds. However, here's the difference. Angry birds is only $0.99 if not free if you have Android. Wreckateer requires Xbox and you have to have Kinect but the game itself is solid and much better than angry birds.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 03:48 PM
Dust was great so surprised by the statsFriday, September 07, 2012 @ 03:56 PM
I actually liked Wreckateer. It's a decent enough game to play in between others.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 04:39 PM
Dust and Hybrid were the only ones I was even interested in. This year was meh.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 05:04 PM
I was disappointed with THHD. It did not play exactly the like the old games, which is what I was expecting. Almost like Halo Anniversary, where the graphics are changed, nothing else. I spent many many hours with each of the old THPS games, and THHD just isn't the same. Deadlight was ok, but was hoping for more of a Shadow Complex style of game, one that isn't always point a to b and over in a few hours. I did not, do not, and probably will not ever like Dust's characters. The art style is great, just the fact all the characters look like they belong on Looney Tunes. Otherwise a great game, what Castlevania HoD should have been like.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 05:05 PM
Leaderboards prove nothing, this is pretty daft "analysis" right here. Sorry.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 05:07 PM
That's unfortunate :(Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 05:26 PM
FFS stop bitching about about this apparent "1200" norm. It is not the norm at all as plenty of titles are 800 points still. £10 for a game like Dust is not "over priced" and while i personally held off Deadlight i can see the justification for it. If you people can seriously sit there and think that dust or deadlight (the best 2 imo) were overpriced when compared with what we used to pay 800 for then you need your head examined. The money and effort in these gamrs now is way way bigger than the days of cloning clyde and konami ports of 30 year old games. Deadlights environs are amazing and with tweaking the game could of been amazing. Dust is the work of a single guy and could easily pass for retail. There will be good and bad all the time. Some £40 games are shit for instance but gaming is still one of the best and most affordable interests around for what you can get out of it. I just think gamers seem to believe devs and publishers make games out of fairy dust and wishes and we should be paid to play them.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 05:31 PM
Why spend 1200 points for a few hours fun when I can spend 69p on my iPad for a few hours fun, sometimes the same game. Having to support a family, price is more important than pretty graphics for m.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 06:12 PM
I picked up Deadlight, but that's it. A bit surprised by the low numbers of some of the other games. Hopefully those who did purchase them got some fun out of them.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:09 PM
I've been having some fun with Hybrid, but I'll admit that price tag was a major turn off. Hope to check out Deadlight and Dust at some point, once they come down in price. Sad to say that it's going to take a few more lousy Summer sales for anything to change.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 07:40 PM
IMO i thought Hybrid is a good game.. sure its a lil overpriced but its actually alot of fun! the achievements and unlocks are fun to get and the gameplay is very unique i was hoping that THPSHD had a level editor but it didn't so i was a little dissapointed The kinect game was doomed from the start... Dust was very fun too. deadlight.. i dunno with all that hype it didnt end up being as good as i thought it was.. I hope hybrid goes on sale its a really fun game.. sad to see low numbers in arcade sales tho :/Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:45 PM
I'd rather put my money else where and wait for a sale, that way these games are the price they should have been to start with and I don't have to worry about waiting for patches or even the chance of buying a game that is never patched.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 08:53 PM
I brought THPS HD, I like it, not perfect, but a good game, brings nostalgia. An dust, really good game, graphics and mechanics. Everything else was a let down.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:10 PM
I bought Dust, but the rest of the SoA line up this year wasnt that interesting, and all of them are over priced. IMO most arcade games arent worth more than 800msp.Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 10:18 PM
This just in, no one wants to shell out 15 dollars a week on a couple hour arcade game...Friday, September 07, 2012 @ 11:22 PM
I would have purchased Wreckateer if it wasn't Kinect only and supported controllers.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 09:33 AM
Wheckateer didn't sell well? That's what you get for making an Angry Birds knock off for the Kinect. A little sad Hybrid didn't sell all that well, it was a cool little game and pretty underated.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 09:34 AM
Also, Summer of Arcade would have done much better if they had it a few weeks later and had Counter Strike GO and Mark of the Ninja apart of it, why weren't those two there?Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 09:43 AM
1) get the Kinect Crap out of the SoA 2) get FPS out of the SoA 3) less games at 1200 MSP this is how the SoA must work -and other promotions too-Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 09:50 AM
Deadlight and Dust are in my wishlist. But i will buy them if they drop to 800 msp.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 11:45 AM
Lets see, Tony Hawk HD was pure garbage. Controls were trash, timing was all off. I tried wreckateer. It was horrible.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 11:58 AM
@50 Anyone who dismisses Dust as a "furry game" is an idiot. That is all.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 06:04 PM
Dust being the easy stand out game of the bunch. People need to play it, but there's no rush. People will just wait for deals since they're probably preoccupied with another game.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 07:37 PM
THPS ftw all rest crap... jus sayin'Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 07:56 PM
It's still down to either 2008 or 2009 for the title of Best Summer of Arcade line up. This 2012 bunch doesn't really come close.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 08:22 PM
I'm not sure what's more disgusting, that Deadlight sold more than Dust or that Hybrid sold at all.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 09:17 PM
I rarely pay full price for an arcade game. I will rarely pay $60 for a retail game either. I wait until they drop to $30 or less.Saturday, September 08, 2012 @ 09:22 PM
I myself rarely buy XBLA games. I only have 20 XBLA games spread between RPG, tower defense, or the free XBLA games. I would rather spend my MSP on DLC for retail games that generally have better graphics and more to do in them. Also, XBLA game seem to come in two varieties. Either they are so easy that it almost isn't worth the bother (i.e. Harm's Way) or they are so difficult and/or time intensive (i.e. Hexic HD) that I would rather just play a retail game. None of these titles really interested me. But then again, none of the titles the last several years of SoA (except Toy Soldiers: Cold War which I bought) have interested me either.Sunday, September 09, 2012 @ 11:31 AM
The Summer of Arcade this year was a real lack luster. I don't mind paying 1200 points for an arcade game I feel is worth it, but most of these games I wouldn't buy even at 600 points.Sunday, September 09, 2012 @ 05:47 PM
Personally, I bought Tony Hawks and Deadlight (and in the previous years, I don't remember to ever have bought more than 2 games in a summer arcade so for me, it was pretty much the same as the previous year in terms of games that interested me).Sunday, September 09, 2012 @ 10:30 PM
With the exception of Minecraft, this entire year has been disappointing.Monday, September 10, 2012 @ 01:11 AM
I'm shocked how some of these games didn't sell to wellMonday, September 10, 2012 @ 12:47 PM
perhaps when xbla games come back down to the pricepoint that made the platform successful, they will see sales increase.Tuesday, September 11, 2012 @ 02:40 PM
The problem is that XBLA is setting the wrong price points. Im very interested in both Dust and Deadlight, but Im not $15 interested. These games should have been released at 800 msp. I dont like the direction XBLA is going in terms of pricing. It used to be that price was reserved for the elite games like Shadow Complex, now most games are releasing for that amount. MS should be giving us more sales and cutting prices of a lot of items, not raising the prices.Sunday, September 16, 2012 @ 12:52 PM
Arcade games are overpriced mostly. reason i didnt buy any of the summer of arcades.. well also cause non really interested me. spelunky is cool yes.. but also too high in price. ill just wait for a deal of the week or reduction.

We all know that this year’s Summer of Arcade promotion didn’t match up to the quality of previous years, with a solid yet unspectacular line-up of titles. Now we have an idea of just how poorly they sold.
Traditionally the high point of XBLA sales, this year’s SoA failed to generate much consumer interest. According to the amount of players registered on each of the game's leaderboards, only Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD made an impact, registering 98,000 players in the first week.
Meanwhile, the other games fared far less well. Indeed, Kinect title Wreckateer didn’t even register 10,000 players in its first week, indicating the lowest sales of an SoA game since 2009.
Here’s the full breakdown:
By comparison Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which launched the week after Summer of Arcade came to a close, had 145,709 players on its leaderboards after the first week. In the same period, Spelunky disappointed with just 17,818 players.
