Thought you were finished with the joyful, hellish torture of Dark Souls? Think again. Prepare to die all over again, as Namco Bandai has today slapped a proper, official date on the Artorias of the Abyss DLC that debuted with Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition.

Featuring more torturous dungeons, insane boss battles and more challenging, teeth-grinding gameplay, the Artorias of the Abyss DLC will also include an enhanced online player vs. player mode for all-out fights to the death against one another. There'll also be huge new maps, new environments, new bosses, new enemies, new NPCs to interact with, and a new arsenal of weapons and armour as part of the DLC.

Prepare to return to the darkness of Lordran once more when Dark Souls' Artorias of the Abyss is available to download from the Xbox Live Marketplace on October 24th in Europe and Australasia for 1200 Microsoft Points. A North American release still has yet to be revealed. Check out the trailer again below for a look at the DLC.

Starting to get a bit irritated with the unskippable ads.

Come on having to watch a 3o second ad to watch a one minute video.

The vid states at the end that the Prepare to Die edition is exclusive for PC? A lot of shops mention a Xbox 360 and PS3 version.

@ 6 Anus prepped.

But....

Didn't the dev say when it was released there would be no DLC? Trying to remember where I read that.

No word on achievements? Would prefer that actually as I sold the 360 version and just picked up the Windows Live edition. Another grind for another 1000 but its easily my favorite game of this gen

Can't wait to see what the achievements look like. I'm guessing, though, that there will be weapons you can build that will require you to beat this twice. I just don't know that I have it in me to beat this two more times. You have to go through 2 and half times for the original list.

@7 - They did, but that was before the game took off and sold like hot cakes. They didn't expect it to be so popular, they didn't expect people to be screaming for new content. Good enough reason to me.

if the GFWL edition is anything to go by there may not be any achievements. That version already has this content and the achievement list is the same. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/dark-souls-pc/achievements/

Can't wait for the new content, but as a PvPer the Dark Wood Grain nerf is only adding a tall glass of milk to a already delicious red velvet cake!

@18 that may be true for pvp but in pve I really liked being a heavily armored handstand flopping badass. I will miss that build...

everything about the souls games has been done right, demons was fucking amazing, so they madea spiritual sucessor which was harder, bigger badder and more acessible, they now bring out a fully fledged add on because there was a demand for it with the game being so bloody good.

no rip off rrp, no online pass for pre owned, no day 1 dlc, no season pass or subscription fee, no yearly releases.

from software you truly are a role model for the development industry and you deserve every penny you earn. i was kinda hoping they would make a land of giants dlc for demons souls but hey ho this will do :)

@21 it's sad when achievements are the determining factor of you enjoying a game. read comment 22, because what he says is true. this is the way games should be released. "no rip off rrp, no online pass for pre owned, no day 1 dlc, no season pass or subscription fee, no yearly releases." this game was about quality and not quantity. people should buy dlc like this to enjoy and to send a message to the gaming companies that this is what we want, and if they have achievements it's an added benefit.

@24 the reason for ppl wanting achievements is to lay proof to " i fully beat that game i have the proof " not like back in the old days where if your friend told you " oh i beat that guy no problem i dont get why your having a hard time " and he had no proof except his word well these days achievements are the bread and butter of our hard work, also why was my comment thumbed down? i dident brag about being first i just said day 1 buy for me? is that a reason to hate??

also it is coming to 360 late october but if u want it early you can buy on pc right now me im no pc gamer im a console gamer lol so me and my buddy are stoked for this DLC

@21
I could care less about cheevos for the expansion tbh. Normally I'd agree with you, as I'm a bit of a cheevo whore, but the game is just so freaking awesome that the experience would be enough for me.

@25 the DLC has nothing to do with proof you beat this game, the original game has that proof in its achievements. as i stated achievements are an added bonus, if it has them, but purchasing it for this game should be about supporting the game and as an added experience to it.

if people keep supporting DLC on games like CoD, hell even the last Assassin's Creed (which I was guilty for because I thought it would add to the story but the last DLC ended up being shit) just for achievements they will keep making them the way they do. A game like this needs to be supported regardless of the achievements.

i did not thumbs down your post, so i cannot answer that for you.
