SEGA is continuing its aggressive XBLA release schedule, with reports suggesting that no less than three old fighting games from the publisher are heading to the service.
USK, the body responsible for rating video games in Germany, has listed Sonic the Fighters, Fighting Vipers and Virtua Fighter 2 for Xbox Live Arcade.
Virtua Fighter 2 is the oldest of the the re-releases, originally hitting Japanese arcades in 1994. It was followed by Fighting Vipers in 1995 and Sonic the Fighters in 1996. All of the games received console ports at some time or another.
Interestingly, all three fighters share similar mechanics, riffing on the Virtua Fighter template. Sonic the Fighters is most indebted to its predecessors as it only exists due to a bored Fighting Vipers dev creating a Sonic character skin for his own amusement. The bosses liked it and turned it into its own game.
We await official announcements on all three titles.
