Nordic Games has today revealed the proper release date for Farm 51's remake of the ultra-violent 2004 People Can Fly FPS, Painkiller on consoles, namely Painkiller: Hell & Damnation. It's not the PC-only date of October 31st as initially thought. The game will in fact be arriving early next year on consoles.

Furthermore, the limited edition will not be made available for the console versions either, and will be coming for PC versions of the game only. Still, you will be able to get your hands on the standard Xbox 360 version of Painkiller: Hell & Damnation in January 2013.

The game is so bloody and violent that it hasn't undergone classification in Germany, meaning it won't be available there. Painkiller: Hell & Damnation will however be available everywhere else (pretty much) on January 22nd, 2013 priced at £24.99. Check out the 19 new screenshots in the gallery, and a small selection of the best ones below.

  • This can't come fast enough for me. Loved playing this game on my PC when I was younger. To bad the Germans have to miss out.
  • Well at the moment, our lovely backward-looking government (Australia... whoo?) is reconsidering the R18+ rating and has gone back to the very beginning. Hopefully they get their shit together and introduce the rating as it was said to happen in January, in time for this to pass classification without any edits being made.
  • Ultra-violent? Psh, count me in. I love me some violent games.
  • well i know where im spending 25 quid in january. :)
  • Okay, judging by these screens this must include the expansion pack too, right? I remember the Carnival level quite well. That is great news if that is the case. Now I will definitely be picking this up.
  • @5 yeah but it wouldn't surprise me if they release the DLC separately à la Battle Mode for Sonic Adventure 2.
  • The updated graphics look amazing. I'll definitely grab this is it's released for $20, like Crysis.
  • only thing that sucks is its not till next year. im ready for the old school gaming.gonna be sweet.
  • @8 2004 is old school? The new graphics engine looks pretty good, hopefully the don't mess with the rest of the game too much.
  • I like bloody and violent!
  • @#9 Yeah it is pretty old school along lines of Serious Sam. Just blasting away carrying tons of weapons with even more ammo and never ending enemies trigerred whenever you enter new area. Looks nice, but I will pass on this. Lately I've been craving games with a little bit more of depth=P
  • This look interesting and I will get this of course. :D I must say stupid to banned in Germany. At least Germany people will get outside of and easy because PAL version is same. I am not Germany but players in there want this so I understand how pissed were. Yeah totally agree this game almost like Serious Sam but with deeper bloody and violent itself then Serious Sam is.
  • January 22nd is the official date as of now for consoles. Will be $30.00 USD. Shame we won't get the CE as I was totally going to buy it. What's really dumb is that the PC CE is 30, which is what we have to pay for the standard. Wow Xbox 360 really sucks sometimes.
  • I love Painkiller: Black Edition since it is the original game and the first (and best) expansion pack, Battle Out of Hell. In fact, anything Painkiller after the original and Battle Out of Hell suck ass from a straw. Unfortunately, as a big Painkiller fan, I regret to inform you that Hell & Damnation sucks big time as well. It has one good thing going for it: an actual proper HD re-skin (unlike most games' claimed HD re-skins). It looks amazing especially if you compare the original to it level-by-level, enemy-by-enemy. However, there are many problems. Too many to list, but aside from it's horrifically glitched, laggy multiplayer, it has one REAL big problem: level omissions. Yeah, that's right. They cut some of Painkiller's BEST LEVELS! Like what you ask? Well, for one example: the final fucking level against Satan. Yeah... I love Painkiller, but fuck this shit. Even as an achievement whore I'm not sure I can justify purchasing such a grand fuck-up for fans. And so I leave you with a link to the greatest version of Painkiller, full, complete and totally cheap: http://www.gog.com/gamecard/painkiller
  • The $39.00 price tag is a tad steep for what amounts to a remake.
  • ...no matter what, I'll still be picking it up. I never said I was smart with my money. :)
