If having three standard difficulty levels isn't enough for you, then Ninja Theory is here to really pour it on for DmC, as beyond offering the straight-up Human, Devil Hunter and Nephilim difficulties, DmC will also have four additional special difficulty levels to beat.
As is tradition with Devil May Cry games, each special difficulty is unlocked upon completing successive playthroughs of each level, offering an added incentive to tackle multiple, increasingly challenging playthroughs. Here's the special difficulties you'll be able to unlock in DmC:
- Son of Sparda - Remixed enemy layouts, tougher enemies and enemy behaviour throughout.
- Dante Must Die - As above, but contains the strongest enemies and insane attack waves.
- Heaven or Hell - Another remixed mode, but everyone and everything, including Dante, dies after one hit. Supremely satisfying!
- Hell and Hell - The same as above, but only Dante dies after one hit. For serious contenders.
As you can see, there's a lot of replay value there. As for the Hell and Hell difficulty, only nutters need apply. We'll be giving that one a wide berth, thanks. DmC is out on January 15th, 2013. Check out ten new screens in the gallery. There's a selection below.
