Our MCM Expo Mega Recap: Photos and Videos from the Main Games Stage

What a week it's been! With Assassin's Creed III and Halo 4 firmly on the priority schedule in terms of reviews and what not, it seems that everything has taken a backseat this week... especially with Mr Bradley being off on vacation too. Stretched thin is an understatement! That means that I've literally only just got around to taking a look at the shots and videos from the MCM Expo last weekend. Some great shots, by the way, for a fantastic event. Thanks to everyone who turned out. We had a blast.

A bit about the show for those people who didn't have chance to turn up. The MCM Expo is basically London's Comic-Con, held at the Excel Centre in East London - it's almost in bloody Essex - bringing in about 70,000 people over the weekend. Our role this year, which was very last minute, was to run and host the main Games Stage, from inviting guests, putting on interesting panels and running the minute-to-minute goings-on of our own piece of the floor in the Excel Centre. In short, it was a rousing success.

Admittedly, there were a few tech problems which were unfortunately out of our hands, from over-stretched bandwidth to mic issues - mainly interference from the main stage next door (curse that Matt Smith fella!) - but other than that, the show was a mega success. That does mean some of the live-streams weren't able to cope with the lack of bandwidth, unfortunately, but that's technology for you! Everyone there managed to see the magic, so that's some consolation - particularly the DmC: Devil May Cry demo, which was supremely awesome. If we get the chance to run the Games Stage again, we'll be able to put on one hell of a show.

I'd like to take a few moments to thanks the rest of the team for last weekend too: our main man Richie Walker, the best right hand man in the games industry who kept everyone updated at home; our tech expert, Tamer Asfahani, long-time friend of ours and the site, currently starting up Arabic Gamers; our excellent cameramen for the weekend, Pierce Johnson, Tom Palmer and Sam Clay, who did a fine job and put up with my incessant rants; and Elyse Marks, our super-duper photographer who did a stunning job with the snaps in our gallery here. It truly was a team effort. Rather inspiring stuff if you ask me.

Without further ado, here's the best of our MCM Expo weekend!

The Best of the Weekend

The voice of Altair from Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Cas Anvar, joins us for a chat, including Assassin's Creed: Bloopers, a segment not to be missed.

Catch our final Q&A session with Assassin's Creed III's Lead Game Designer, Steven Masters.

Star Wars and Life's Too Short's star, Warwick Davis, takes the stage to show off Pocket Warwick.

We chat with some UK vets on how they got into the games industry.

The Racing Hour: We play F1 Race Stars with members of the audience and give the onlookers a chance to come up and try to win a copy of Forza Horizon.

Of course, this is just a sample of a few of the highlights, check out our Twitch TV channel for the rest of them.

The Show In Photos

Show starts in 4 hours and Rich thinks our makeshift stage will do the business.

"How big was the fish?" "It was THIS big!!"

"Rich, you spell redtube like this..."

Welcome to the tech hub, where technology comes for a better life.

"Ladies and gents, welcome to the MCM Games Stage!!"

Born Ready Games' CEO, James Brooksby, stopped by to show off Strike Suit Zero.

The brilliant Cas Anvar, voice of Altair from Assassin's Creed: Revelations who is also in Halo 4 and Black Ops 2, stopped by the stage to have some fun and games with the gathering onlookers.

All throughout the weekend we had a great crowd at the Games Stage.

Assassin's Creed III's Lead Game Designer, Steven Masters, joined us for a series of special Assassin's Creed III presentations and Q&As...

... and he was definitely one of the fans' favourites throughout the weekend. Constantly pulling in the crowds.

Steven and I look on as Ubisoft's veteran gameplay demo expert, Ray, homes in on yet another perfect run.

We take some time at the end of the session so that Steven Masters can take a few audience questions.

Star Wars and Life's Too Short star, Warwick Davis, joins us on stage to show off his latest mobile application...

... and he certainly knows how to draw in a crowd. There wasn't a space in the place to catch Warwick on stage.

CyberConnect2's Hiroshi Matsuyama joined us on stage dressed as Naruto to make some exciting announcements.

And now, some cosplay...

Best. Cosplay. EVER!!

I'm going to say Guild Wars 2, but honestly, who the hell cares... that's one hell of an outfit! Impressive...

... but not as impressive as the Lightning cosplayer... who actually bloody well looks like Lightning herself. Astonishing.

Folks, that about wraps up our recap, there are plenty more pictures (140 to be precise) in the gallery here, so do head on over to check them out now. There's some great shots in there. And for everyone who came, thanks for your support, we hope you had a blast, we did.
