"There's a good chance" that Rainbow 6: Patriots could be a next-generation title according to Ubisoft big cheese Yves Guillemot. First glimpsed back in June 2011, the latest Rainbow Six has been sporadically on and off the radar since, with key member of the development team jumping ship back in March.
Once again, Ubisoft has reaffirmed that Rainbow 6: Patriots is still in development however, although the studio is remaining characteristically tight-lipped on details. "The only thing I can say is that we have a good team working on it, and it's really looking good," Guillemot told Polygon. "So when it will come, it will surprise the industry."
And it'll be a next-generation title then, eh Yves? "There's a good chance it can be," he said. Brill. It looks like we might have to dig in for an even longer wait to see any signs of Rainbow 6: Patriots, but as a next-gen game it could push the envelope where its morality-based gameplay is concerned.
"You have to make decisions and that implies lots of ethical choices,' Guillemot explained. "In the decisions you make, we have to define where you can go, and there were lots of discussions on what's possible, what should be possible, what shouldn't be possible. But that's what is interesting with the concept - being able to give a choice to the person who is playing."
Remind yourself of what Rainbow 6: Patriots is attempting in the debut trailer below. The game is still pencilled in for a tentative 2013 release. We'll see about that...
