According to Treyarch's multiplayer man David Vonderhaar, who took to Reddit recently to answer questions about Call of Duty: Black Ops II, future add-ons for the game could introduce some new multiplayer modes and even see the return of World at War's 'War Mode'. Or something that's "War like" anyway, says Vonderhaar.
War is a twist on Capture the Flag in which up to five flags are on the map, and only one of those flags can be contested at any one time. Once a flag is captured, it activates the next in the direction of the enemy's spawn point, leading to a back and forth land grab between two teams.
"No plans to bring back War at this time," Vondehaar stated, before adding "Never say never. Here is a hint. We have a very War like mode, that isn't exactly War, that I would love to tell you about, but I can't because ... dragged away by PR."
Vonderhaar also hinted that All or Nothing could return as DLC too, seeing players starting with an empty gun, some stealthy perks and some knives. Bag a kill and you can scavenge ammo for your empty gun. New modes are likely on the agenda as well. "We have some of our own new gamemodes we are eager to try out," Vonderhaar commented.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II is out now.
