Brink Dev Splash Damage Teases New Game Announcement

Splash Damage looks set to announce a new game next week.

The Brink developer’s website has been updated with a logo and a date and time, pointing to a reveal on the 29th November at 11:29.

But what exactly is this mystery game? It doesn’t look like it’s related to Brink at all, nor does it share any ties with the Quake or Wolfenstein franchises the studio has worked on in the past.

It may even be a mobile title, following the company’s decision to target smart phones with RAD soldiers, an asynchronous turn-bases strategy title.

Who knows, eh? Guess we’ll have to wait until next week to find out. Until then, speculate away!

P.S - I liked Brink. Fingers crossed they make a new one some day.

Brink had so much potential but felt like a missed opportunity. Hopefully they do a better job this time as we could use a new IP

Can't help thinking the background looks like a tire tread oiled up, and with the hazard looking logo could be another futuristic vehicle combat game, and with the influx of mobile gaming I would hazard that guess....let's hope I'm wrong and its something special and a shiny brand new ip...:)

Aside from the bad, bad multiplaayer lag, Brink was quite good and could have been something great.

It will be a £5 game within a few months of release thats what the game is. How can you make a game that is based around online without even a basic lobby system. The leads on brink should be given the firing squad -_-. Lucky they have decent owners. Looking at todays news about Eurocom (made 007 Legends) letting most people go, the world is not healing it's getting worst with more and more losing jobs. In gaming it's not that everyone just plays cod it's that so many studios make mediocre games and a lot of it is because of a few dam right plain sight dum ass decisions -_-

Brink is one of worst FPS games ever made. But if Brink 2 coming from that surprise game well if do then it should have single-player story this time around not offline MP allow play on own to defend and protect over, over and over. Brink show gameplay getting bored fast, faster and speed all over world. God Brink all about defend and protect is getting bored faster. Anyway I don't mind to see Brink is back but I like to see full single-player story with better balance weapons and gameplay. If they want too much defend and protect gameplay come back again ok but put those in MP modes only just like normal MPs in any other games anyway. :)

I will not get Brink 2 if more of same to Brink with too much defend and protect gameplay. No buy then. Full single-player story force with deeper gameplay. Will preorder then. That is what my opinion of Brink.

If surprise game is not Brink then that icon picture make me think something to do with Gas / Poison or it is something like RAD. Seem like something to do with infect zombies, monsters, creatures and crazy people. Or maybe story something lead character that have to stop final boss to made world with full of GAS. I dunno lol

I look forward to see what surprise game coming soon by confirm them. :)

Was really hoping Brink would be awesome. I mean Wolf: ET with parkour and a cool cartoony art style? I'm glad I only rented it. It was a great try but just fell completely flat on its face. Something was just off, and I'm not talking about the bugginess and the dumb dumb AI that was being raved about pre-launch.

The map designs just seemed too chaotic as well, with chokepoints that just didn't play well at all. The game just seemed unfinished.

I would like to see them re-do Wolf:ET in the Brink universe. Add a little bit more cover for the parkour gameplay.

But then again I guess that's just what most of us were really hoping for. Wolf: ET. I didn't care for Quake Wars either.

Well best of luck to Splash Damage. RAD's beta was fun but I don't play games on my iphone much these days.

Despite it's problems, I really enjoyed Brink and I really hope we get another one some day.

The logo makes me think of radiation though. It could be another Brink, but I'm pretty sure the world was screwed over by weather.

On a side note: the logo looks like some from Half-life, fancy that.

Brink was a great idea with poor execution. Hit with multiple delays, graphical changes mid-development, it looked like a nightmare.

I believe the had something special, but just couldn't deliver on it. Here's hoping that Splash Damage's next game is great!

Brink was underrated for a reason.

So it was not under rated.

It was just bad.

If you want to play a fun game, count all the developers who have made good games but have been closed down in the last two years, then realise Splash Damage are still going despite releasing the utter turd that was Brink.

And when I say "fun" I mean "utterly depressing".

Brink should have been so good, in theory. but it was a poorly delivered game. it was still cool, if a bit frustrating at times, but by no means completely shit, or the worst FPS ever made. for me that title goes to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, or Duke Nukem Forever.

wasn't brink the game by (some of) the devs who made black for PS2 & xbox...that was one of the best ever FPS' on a console, would be nice if they went on to create another great game like that, i only played the demo of brink, and though it was a weak version of bulletstorm crossed with any generic FPS...had a freind who bought it for PS3, and he played it twice, only because after the first time he though "it can't really be that bad", followed by, "get out, and go back to the shop, i want a real game"

checking the splash damage site, they've yet to make a "good" game, enemy territory was utter gash, (never played the wolfenstein version, but i imagine it was much the same as quake wars)...looks like they made some doom 3 maps, but thats not a great start, that game was bad (for doom fans at least)

well, lets live in hope that they can make something great for a change, unfortunately my opinion of something great is something that the general populous doesn't like because it's nothing like CoD / Halo / GoW

@22 The doom 3 maps weren't bad...............

@20 your the sort of gamer I want to avoid mainly because the fact yes it might not have been some shit call of duty game but the game was still fun even if some people didn't like it.

I'm a designer myself so when people start slagging off company's for existing then they seem to forget people put their heart and soul into these games while other company's have bigger budgets make them look bad. It's funny how people complained when it was actually team fortress, they were both fun games, if you want to boost about bad a company is then I dare you go on a course on games design then show your game to the public, see if you can do better.

I'm surprised these guys are still around after how bad Brink flopped. Maybe this time they will actually finish production of the game instead of doing half assed job. Curious to see what this new project is, but definitely not looking forward to it yet

Brink was bad, yes, but it wasn't downright horrible. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel at some point.
When you are a parkour, multiplayer, FPS and the best thing you have going for you is your character customization, you know you're in trouble.
Worst part of Brink: the parkour. I am 30 years old and I ok shape, and I can do everything those guys could. Jumping over or sliding under a waist high railing isn't that impressive. The devs need to watch District B13, and capture half of what those guys do.

@22, then you've missed a lot, because Wolfenstein: ET is one of the best multiplayer FPSes of all time. OF ALL TIME. It's nothing like Quake Wars, which sucks.

I love how people hear are calling Brink bad when they're not actually giving any good reasons.

I would actually LOVE to hear why people terribly believe it was bad, within good reason, of course.

@32. the customization was massively decreased, the AI was shite, there was practically no story, the levels did not really allow the dynamic movement system to be used to great effect.

I almost got Brink yesterday for £4.99, but opted for Dark Void instead. Neither game has received good press from what I've seen, but I do want to give both a whirl at some point. Even if I just get easy gs from them both, then at least I'll have my own opinion on them.
