A new trailer for Ron Gilbert's The Cave has emerged from the murky depths to show off the numerous characters you'll be able to play as in the side-scrolling adventure game, which sees the dubious heroes delving deep into the subterranean darkness to find something out about themselves.

In the vid, you'll see the Scientists, the Hillbilly and the mysterious spooky Twins among others. In The Cave, you'll choose three of them to take down into the titular cavern, where numerous puzzles and much weirdness awaits.

Check out the latest trailer below to acquaint yourself with the characters from SEGA and Double Fine's The Cave, which will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade in 2013.

Not a big fan of platformers, but I might have to make an exception for this.

One of the few upcoming XBLA games I'm wishing would come out sooner rather than later. Looks a lot more promising than most of the arcade shit they try to pass of as game games these days.

They didn't give a backstory to the knight, aviator/bomber, and the pharaoh or whatever the hell that weird one was.

This does not look all that appealing to me, but I think I've played every single game from Double Fine to date, so I will defo get the trial to make up my mind.

Notice the Scientist's laser turned him into 'Splosion Man Meat?

It occurred to me that I have all of Double Fine's games on 360 (minus kinect), so part of me feels obligated to own this.

Brand loyalty is dangerous on the pockets.
