The Cave
Given a Second Chance Ron Gilbert "Never Would Have Sold Humungous Entertainment"

Speaking to Ron Gilbert earlier this week at an event for The Cave, we asked what he'd change if he could become The Cave's Time Traveler, one of the seven characters you can play as in Gilbert's upcoming XBLA adventure game that he's developing with Double Fine and SEGA.

Apparently, Gilbert regrets selling off the studio he co-founded with Shelley Day back in 1992 called Humungous Entertainment. The studio became a specialist in creating point-and-click games aimed at a younger audience, before being acquired by GT Interactive in 1996. Humoungous is currently owned by Atari.

"If I were the Time Traveler in the game? Oh wow... If I were the Time Traveler... You know I probably never would have sold Humungous Entertainment," Gilbert told X360A. "I think that was a great company and we had a lot of amazingly talented people working there. I probably wouldn't have sold that company."

Ron Gilbert is currently putting the finishing touches on The Cave at Double Fine, which we'll be previewing soon. You can also catch the full interview with Ron Gilbert around the same time. The Cave is coming to XBLA in January 2013.

If Gilbert had anything to do with this game, it's probably going to be ace. I LOVED the Monkey Island games when I was younger and thoroughly enjoyed romping through the HD versions on XBLA!

The original Monkey Island is my favorite game ever, of all time. I will keep my eyes on The Cave.

I grew up playing the Spy Fox games. I never knew that he was involved in them. That's really cool! :)

Regrets are funny like that. The older you get, the more you start to have. But this game could be the start of something special. Schaffer and Gilbert both being involved was an instant sell to me. The fact that the game looks awesome is just a bonus.
