Even though I played it, I was still really disappointed with it...Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:39 AM
I'm one of those people. The campaign was a freaking blast!Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:49 AM
Hope they do a better job of the 4th game number 3 started off good and then it got meh with a couple of okay momentsMonday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:51 AM
I thought this game was amazing. The only beef I have was SR2 had more clothes to wear and no On-Disc DLC. SR3 is one of the greatest Sandbox game to dateMonday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:53 AM
Saints row 3 was a blast, hope everything goes ok so they can release 4Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:56 AM
Yes saint row was the shit still won't save thq from its downfall lol.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:03 AM
Sweet, I loved The Third, bring on Saints Row 4 next year! Go crazy Volition, but keep the writing top notch.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:04 AM
SR3 was really good. The season pass DLC shite wasn't.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:14 AM
5.5 million people have played an awesome game!Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:16 AM
1. Campaign was lacklustre 2. Years of a fun story, only for it to die within first few missions of 'SR3' 3. Game was killed because of poorly created DLC 4. Main add-ons gave 3 hours of gameplay at most 5. No replay value whatsoever 6. Could not redo missions, like you could in Saints Row 2 7. Forced to buy online pass if you wanted to play LOCAL co-op 8. Short game 9. Overrated Then they tried to sell off DLC as a stand-alone game, which ended up failing because THQ were drowning in debt, so they decided to add that DLC to the next Saints Row game. No wonder why THQ were in trouble and had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to sell over $100 worth of games for as little as $5 last week.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:19 AM
@8 haha the season pass was a joke. You barely saved anything with it, just got an extra costume or something, and on top of that the dlc's themselves could all be done within an hour or so each. Saints Row 3 was good though, short but sweetMonday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:23 AM
If 5.5 million played it i would guess at least 4 million of them only played it for an hour.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:37 AM
I didn't like it all that much, personally. It felt like a major step back compared to 2.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:39 AM
I hope SR4 will be like SR2, with badass kill scenes, more enterable buildings, more levels for activities, longer campaign and improvised weapons like hitting with trashes.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:50 AM
Cool but bring back all the content you cut.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:55 AM
They only release this news after that massive THQ humble bundle sale has ended, of course its gone up.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 08:02 AM
@14 definitely. i miss being able to pick up cinderblocks and throw them at people enjoying their lunch on a bench.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 08:27 AM
The first two games were great, but the third installment was a disappointment.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 08:33 AM
Man, the people who say SR3 was a disappointment must have played a different game than I did. It was my GOTY last year because of how insane the story got and all of the different references throughout. It was also the best wrestling game I've ever played.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 08:56 AM
Love the game.. So much fun. Forget Halo, forget Call of Doody.. Need more fun games like this.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 09:19 AM
saints row 3 would have been good if they hadnt cut alot of cool activities and features from saints 2Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 09:19 AM
I played it and loved every minute of the 38 hours I played it for. Dont regret one bit.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 09:19 AM
This game was so much fun. Especially *Spoilers* finding out that BURT FUCKING REYNOLDS is the mayor of the city was easily the best gaming moment of my year last year hands down.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 09:33 AM
Thinking about getting this, i liked the first two and am a total fan of going crazy and doing shit that don't make sense. Shall i get it or not?Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 09:47 AM
@24: Great game, you won't regret it. :)Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 09:50 AM
I just recently bought the complete edition of the game. Can't wait to dig into it!Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:04 AM
Not bashing the game but I've always been a fan of GTA and honestly have wanted to try SR but still can't seem to make up my mind after all this time. I don't even know if I should start from the first one.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:08 AM
Bought in both PC and Xbox!!! Really nice to play co op!!!Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:10 AM
This is the only SR game I've played (always more of a GTA fan). But that being said, I thought the game was pretty fun. It was over the top and ridiculous most of the time, but I loved it.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:20 AM
In many aspects its also the worst Saints row game though, sure you can go over the top but come on? Every now and then you felt like a dumbass for buying a game that essentially was aiming for that cool "I R 18+ GAME" which normally makes all kids jizz their pants because they get to play it anyhow. The campaign sucked absolute donkey dick, honestly i dont remember much from it and i still remember SR1-2 campaign stuff. Dlcs were complete shit, UTTERLY AND COMPLETE SHIT 2 hours max to finish with little to nothing extra that was interesting + missions were just a boring fucking grind to get some chievos. It was nice that the coop was improved but fuck sake open world games need to go towards a better direction than this, just like the GTA games once you finish the campaign its nothing left just a fucking canvas for destruction (which isnt always bad) unless you like me wanna have something that makes you wanna comeback for hours and not just 30 mins every 2 months.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:45 AM
The game was terrible compared to the first two and the DLC were even worse. I was devastated when i heard about the expansion THAT NOBODY WANTED will become a full game. I think i'm done with the series. Such a shame they ruined it.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:45 AM
First Saints Row was amazing, this one was shitMonday, December 17, 2012 @ 10:46 AM
Shut Up!! THQ just tell your developers to bring Saints Row 4 and take my money away. Just confirm date and in developing. Jesus!!Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 11:45 AM
@ 10 u are 100% correct and if anyone gives u thumbs down then they haven't played SR2 the best of the 3 games.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 11:47 AM
On the other hand, I've played all the Saint's Row games and I hated the first one, the second one got boring after a couple of hours, but the third one was absolutely awesome all the way through. At the end I was desperate for more. Bring on the 4th game, I seriously can't wait.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 12:12 PM
Thq could release a copy of saints every month and I would happily comply and give them lots of money for it.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 12:30 PM
I have been waiting since release to play this. HUGE fan of SR1 and 2, and I wanted this game but with the announcement of how much DLC was to follow. I thought I would wait. Now, I have waited, the price is down, but they are soon to be releasing the Saints Row 3 game with ALL DLC included. I am going to pick that as soon as I see it, even if it is at full price of original SR3 release because all that DLC makes it worth it.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 12:38 PM
Played by, not purchased by 5.5 million. I take it at least 4 million of those were rentals! I rented my copy n glad that I did as it was quite a boring game. I think Saints 1 and 2 were by far the better of the series!Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 01:41 PM
the third was fun as hell, but the 2 is still the best.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 01:50 PM
i agree enjoyed it but didnt better saints row 2Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 02:22 PM
SR2 was what GTA IV should have been. SR3 was a joke.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 02:23 PM
How could it not be a hit? You could hit people with a giant dildo.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 02:23 PM
Saints Row The Third only did so well because Saints Row 2 was so freaking awesome, fans wanted to see how well SRTT could do only to be dissappointed...don't get me wrong, SRTT is fun and I love it, but SR2 is still MUCH better.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:14 PM
SR 3 is, easily, one of my five favorite games of all times. Tons of humor, well-executed action, and a ton of different play mechanics made an amazing experience. The DLC was meh, though.Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 06:46 PM
Liked the main game but I do agree that the season pass DLC were a bit disappointing.......still, not a bad game overallMonday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:09 PM
I agree the third was not as good as the second but im glad it did well hopefully these people will keep their jobs and this game can keep the company aliveMonday, December 17, 2012 @ 07:37 PM
"a hit that nobody thought would be a hit" could be shortened to be called a sleeper hit. But did the creators of this think that it was utter crap but still shipped it?Monday, December 17, 2012 @ 08:03 PM
Awesome game but I had wayyyy more fun with SR2Tuesday, December 18, 2012 @ 01:08 AM
I loved Saints The Third soo much.Tuesday, December 18, 2012 @ 05:19 AM
Haven't played any games in this series, don't plan to change that. Looks like a crap version of GTA.Wednesday, December 19, 2012 @ 06:28 AM
The game is not perfect by any means, but I have to give props to Violition for improving upon every aspect of the game. I use to get annoyed during snatch missions, now I just put it on casual if it's giving me more trouble than I think it's worth. The addition of tank mayhem and other little bits seem more like a mini game than a chore. The bulk of the game is story related and if you're a fan of over the top then it will have a lasting appeal.Wednesday, December 19, 2012 @ 06:36 AM
@ #51- That's a really lame reason not to play Saints Row. The first two games are starting to show their age so if you find yourself curious I would give Saints Row the Third another look. In GTA you have the story and the game is over unless you enjoy hitting ramps and finding collectibles. In Saints Row you have mini games which add to the story whether you complete them during the main missions of afterwards. Having actually played all GTA and Saints games I give my vote to Saints Row.Wednesday, December 19, 2012 @ 03:24 PM
hasnt thq filed for bankruptcy????Saturday, December 22, 2012 @ 02:20 AM
I still enjoyed Saints Row 1 more than any of them, it had more of a challenge to the side missions (Such as racing, mayhem, etc)

Apparently, 5.5 million people have played Saints Row: The Third according to THQ President Jason Rubin, who tweeted the statistic over the weekend. And while the number doesn't necessarily relate to copies sold or shipped, it still indicates that the game did rather well.
As of April this year however, Saints Row: The Third had shipped 4 million, so the possibility that it's shipped an additional 1.5 million since then is not entirely outside the realms of possibility.
"Saints Row was the hit nobody realized was a hit!", reads Rubin's tweet. Next up? Why Saints Row 4, of course... The game that started out as an expansion, and will now be a fully-fledged sequel.
