Ubisoft has released details of a whopping great big Assassin’s Creed III patch headed our way. Due to hit before Christmas, the patch contains fixes for... well, everything by the looks of it.

Check out the full list below, courtesy of the Ubisoft forum

Global Fixes

- Couriers will now appear more often in Boston and New York
- Fixed a bug where consumables would not be restored properly after playing a naval mission
- Fixed a bug where multiple copies of heralds or paper boys could be spawned at the same spot
- Fixed a bug where printer shops icons could appear on the map even if the player is not notorious
- Fixed a bug where the 2nd equipped pistol could disappear after a loading
- Fixed a bug where the player could fall through the map if he went through a city gate on horseback while in conflict
- Fixed a crash when the player uses the rope dart on a horse from above
- Fixed horse glitch
- Fixed inventory messages that kept being displayed after every reload if the player had completed some missions
- Fixed various crashes
- Forced subtitles to be displayed for off-camera voices like some tutorials and end of sequence transitions
- Made sure to stop tavern music when exiting taverns

SEQUENCE 1
- A Deadly Performance: fixed a music glitch by making a cinematic not skippable

SEQUENCE 4
- Feathers and Trees: fixed another case where optional objective “Do not touch the ground or water” could fail for no good reason

SEQUENCE 6
- On Johnson’s Trail: fixed a bug where sometimes Adams and Revere could be missing, preventing the player from starting the mission

SEQUENCE 7
- Lexington and Concord: fixed a bug where the player could stay stuck on the road while on horseback at a specific spot on the mission’s path

EPILOGUE
- Fixed Animus Synching gameplay that could get stuck

Side Quests
- Boston Brawlers: clearer message after beating all ex-champions, stating that you need to go back to Boston
- Boston Underground: fixed a bug where exploded barrels could come back if you re-entered through the South Commons entrance.
- Boston Underground: fixed a bug where Haytham could never use the North Port entrance
- Liberation Missions: added unfogging of the map when the player gets near a liberation event, to make sure the icon will be revealed in case the player doesn’t complete it and wants to come back later.
- New York Liberation Missions: fixed a few cases where the player could get to the event’s icon but nothing would happen.
- New York Underground, fixed a bug where the player would be teleported at the center of New York if he declined to enter the underground through the South Market entrance.

Homestead
- Added map icons on Homestead buildings as you unlock new settlers
- Made sure Achilles cannot be stoking the fireplace after the homestead story arc is completed
- THE PROPER TOOLS: added map icons on all shops in New York when that mission asks the player to go buy the hammer parts for the blacksmith
- Side-quest “ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE COMMON MAN”, fixed a bug where the quest would still not be completed if the problem was already encountered prior to the last patch. Buggy savegames are now fixed on load.

Naval Locations
- OAK ISLAND: fixed a bug where the mission could not continue if the player reloads after completing some parts of the puzzle

Frontier
- Added auto-whistle for a horse when entering Frontier from Boston, New York or Homestead
- Fixed NPC committing suicide when the player approaches

Menus
- Fixed a bug where it was impossible to hide the on-screen money counter and “hold to skip” message. Money is now linked to the “mini-map” HUD visibility option, and the skip cinematic message to the “controls” option.
- Fixed a bug where the “Fast Travel Points Unlocked” stat could not reach 100%
- Fixed a possible crash after all pivots have been synched
- Fixed bad date formatting in Notification Center
- Fixed various typos and bad translations
- Made sure Boston Brawlers and Hunting Society icons are displayed over the fog once the player gets approached to join the club
- Map icon filters: added a bunch of side-quest start icons on the missions layer, added viewpoints to the collectibles layer, and made sure all fast travel destinations are visible on all layers.
- Opening the weapon, naval weapon and assassin recruits menus is now faster

Multiplayer

Modes
- Team modes balance is no longer affected when extra players join in progress.

Abilities
- Players are no longer stuck after they got hit by knives while climbing cranes.
- The Unstoppable Perk now correctly opens recently closed Chase Breakers in the Animus Core map.
- Closure now seals and opens Chase Breakers for the player who used the ability as intended.

Scoring
- Abstergo points now update correctly after you finished a game in the progression menu.

Locking
- Locked targets don’t become unavailable under certain conditions anymore.
- Players will now see the notorious lock indicator when their pursuers kill NPCs, regardless of their approach meter.
- In a chase, target players will now be able to lock their pursuer by default prior to any other character.

Misc
- It is now possible for players to reopen Chase Breakers right after their team mates went through them in the Animus Core map.
- The time during which you’re vulnerable after a stun from ground to a haystack doesn’t vary from one mode to another anymore.
- Players can no longer get killed by another player from any distance after performing a haystack kill.
- Players no longer get stuck in the position the character adopts on narrow ledges when they kill with the Fast Gun.
- Players will no longer see their pursuers as notorious when their pursuers are killed with the silent bonus or better.
- Characters appearance and Gamertags can no longer be accidentally reverted on Wolfpack podium staging.

Big patches like this wouldn't be needed if Treyarch took over and developed the game.

I don't normally "Talk Shit" but BF3 has had multiple HUGE patches! I just wonder how none of these got caught in alpha/beta testing? And if these fix a game and make them playable, then so be it.

Okay, seriously, how were things like this not discovered before the game was published?

These seem like they'd be fairly common scenarios in the game that, y'know, would be caught by someone actually play-testing the fucking thing?

well just before this was released I found a glitch where you could fall through the pyramid on cerros island and straight through the rest of the map and it desynchronises you hope they fix that so others do not have to redo the entire mission like I had to

If the “ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE COMMON MAN” is true, after the update it should automaticly give me the achievement for it then and not start a whole new game. Ubisoft, you make such good games but your way to solve achievement gliches always ends up doing the game over.

I must have been really lucky because the only glitch that I noticed which seemed to happen quite often is the guards/citizens would just randomly disappear like right in front of me as i'm walking with them in a crowd or something. but besides that i'm very thankful I didn't have any other issues.

I want some Single player DLC though, because ever since I beat the game I have not had the urge to play it. and it's too good of a game to be a shelf game.

^^^ I 110% agree with you. ^^^

True single-player games like this need to stay just that. not follow the horrible Multiplayer trend just to make more money on shit maps that people buy just for the achievements now adays. which is pathetic.

the online would be much better if people acted like assassins, silent, deadly, unseen. Instead they run around like idiots getting 100 point kills
no fun, impossible to really stalk someone when they're running around rooftops n what not
and wtf ? They didn't fix the courier glitches ? I still can't turn in any of those quests

The MP is a blast with a group of people that understand the concept of the game. STEALTH. It's so fun when you are stalking someone who is stalking someone else and not running around the rooftops like a jackass ruining the experience.

I see they mention the Boston Brawlers here, the problem wasn't that we didn't know to go back to Boston it's that no one remembered where the tournament was? I had to youtube it just to start that mission. All they needed was to add an icon for it.

I haven't personally seen it but...
Frontier: Fixed NPC committing suicide when the player approaches
...why, of all things, did they take that out? That sounds like an hilarious easter egg. "Awwww shit, Connor comin'" *slits own throat*

Anyway I play for the MP now and I haven't encountered any of those glitches but it's nice to know theyve caught some rarely seen stuff and stomped it out.

Now when's that DLC coming out.

I just back home from see my dad and log in here and read here. I felt like "OH GOSH!!!" load of bugs is fixed for that game which is great. I put this game hold because I can not stand AC III's buggy so glad see Ubisoft support and get fixes. Look forward to carry on this game once I done other games like LEGO Lord of the Rings and Sleeping Dogs's first story DLC.

Surprise Far Cry 3 with less bugs and AC III came with load of bugs. Seem like Ubisoft is forced on Far Cry 3 way more than they did with AC III. Unlucky for Ubisoft when they in developing for AC III and yeah Ubisoft testers didn't check up very well before game released unlike testers did well with Far Cry 3 (Co-op mode is only buggy in FC 3).

AC III is one of great games in 2012. Far Cry 3 is one of best games in 2012. So Far Cry 3, The Walking Dead, Dishonored, Mass Effect 3 and Halo 4 is my one of nominations for Game of the Year 2012. I will confirm who wins after christmas. Lol :):)

There is a route to a certain mission in the game where you can either go through the woods or swim to it, there's a lighthouse. There's a guy sitting on the rock and once you reach the shore he jumps into the water and dies.

After reading the comments here and in the frequent BF3 patch news stories I'm beginning to see why Rockstar keep the news about Max Payne 3's patches vague and concise. I'd rather get the whole picture.

Ironic to see people being put off AFTER they've fixed the issues.

@51 you're kidding right? this game was horrible compared to the previous. this patch is 1 of 3 that were just as large and the game has been out a month and a half. they gave us a new character with the personality of a rock and that tries extra hard to make himself unlikable. a game where you don't get to play as that main character until you are at the halfway point in the game. the games ending is worse than Mass Effect 3's ending, and yes while this WAS a great franchise, this game ruined everything that was built up and worked towards.

see i didn't even complain about the MP, you only need to play for 4 hours and never touch it again after getting the achievements, the SP had enough of it's own problems.

@53 You should actually be grateful that Ubisoft are fixing the game (I actually came across 1 or 2 bugs which weren't game breaking). Expect glitches in an open world game, it's quite funny how Assassin's Creed 3 has been complained at by the community whereas with games like Skyrim (which was filled with bugs and still is) gets praise for it. Assassin's Creed is still a fantastic franchise in my opinion, I wasn't disappointed with Assassin's Creed 3 at all.

@ 51 your gonna love this Assassins Creed, It's my fav so far out of the series.

@55/56 I have in no way defended Skyrim and it's bugs. The new DLC froze on me every 10 minutes after autosaving. I can't wait until the last DLC comes out so I can finish up and sell it. I actually started playing it a year after its release and it was still riddled with bugs.

This year has been one of the most disappointing games I have ever seen. Between bugs and rushing to get games out for a deadline and making the consumer be the one to test their games and suffer it has been ridiculous.

Mass Effect 3 - Stat erasing glitch, imports not working, and a shitty ending
Borderlands 2 - minor bugs, freezing, and stat erasing glitch
Darksiders 2 - countless game breaking bugs and freezing
Assassin's Creed 3 - shitty ending, countless bugs gamebreaking and minor, gameplay and control changes that were shit

I think the only game I played this year that I didn't notice any glitches on and didn't see complaints of was Dishonored (and no I am not one of those people that think the game was perfect and GOTY, I did enjoy it but it was overhyped). Saying a game will have glitches to defend it is becoming old and boring and unacceptable. No, games should not have glitches to the extent these games have had. That is why they pay companies to test their games. My girlfriends brother tested on BL2 and I heard countless stories of their shitty working conditions and just the fact they ignored bug reports and kept them in. I am not paying $60 to test their game for them. Ubisoft is no different. You can't tell me they didn't notice half this shit before they shipped the game. It was all about them setting a deadline prematurely to hit before the holidays and they didn't care what state the game was in to make that deadline and get their money.

Complain, complain, complain is all you hear from me...that's great, I feel I have the right to complain when they ship an unfinished product I paid full price for. If you want to take it up the ass and thank them for it that's your choice, not mine. I want games that work.

@60 Thanks for the heads-up buddy, i was wondering if it actualy would unlock as i had all activities scanned and all been logged into the logbook except the farmers even it says 3/3 activities scanned. Time to go back and net that achievement that was bugged this long.

Hope the encyclopedia patch also fixes when you have 2/3 activities and when you scan it says you are done. The way this is sided makes it seem like it's only if you have 3/3 and says you don't.

I started it after the first patch to fix it and mine still got glitched.

this goes to show you that Ubisoft does not pay people to play test their game anymore, they expect the people that buy the game to play test it for free.

Too late for me, traded this dog of a game in after I completed the story. Bugs were the least of my issues with AC3, my main problem with it was the painfully slow controls and the fact it was just so boring in comparison to 2.

Funny that they fix all the little things in this game. But Far Cry 3 still has that stupid rune locked away in that cave, preventing 100% completion. Literally something they could fix and patch in an hour without breaking anything.

First off, games companies are not making money hand over fist. In a lot of cases, they are rushing these games out to try to keep from going under so in a way I can't blame them. However, we certainly have a right to expect the game to work when we pay full price for it.

I take the stance that I am happy that they work as hard as they do in making games for me to enjoy. I love that they keep working on patches and DLC after the game releases. I think people take that for granted a little sometimes. It frustrates me too but but I prefer how gaming is now to how it was during the 'Nintendo 64' days when there were just a few good games released each year.

I think that the best way to "Protest" this trend of being bugged and/or broken launch day games - IF you feel the need - is to start waiting a few months after releases for the bugs to work out and for the pre-order DLC to be available on the marketplace and for the season passes to be discounted.

Can we get a fix for the Boston UFO frontiersmen mission. I talked to the guy in the tavern...had to turn off my system because it was getting late.

Now loading up my game, I can no longer talk to the guy in the tavern, but the mission is in my log book. However there is on icon on my map for the UFO and when I travel to the area and tree it's supposed to be in there's nothing there. So now I'm stuck and cannot complete another frontiersmen mission until this is resolved.

I agree with #59, 2012 has been fairly terrible for games, but I kinda did call that iirc.

When AC3 was announced, I said it was rushed, but no, the fanboys INSISTED that Ubi's claim that it had been in development for 3 years (when it was announced, 4 by the time of release) was entirely true.

Face up to the facts, Ubi got greedy and lusted over profits rather than dedicating themselves to quality. Far Cry 3 should have sold ZERO copies because they still have yet to fix the broken POS that is Far Cry 2 with it's litany of glitches and dogshit Achievements. Furthermore, the hundreds of thousands, if not, millions of people who've had that atrocity visited upon their games history foreverafter and still strive to earn those unspeakably horrendous Achievements. We got no apology, no admission of releasing not even a glitchy product, but an entirely experimental one! We got no sufficient patches that fixed the core issues and we got completely stonewalled by those ignorant, self righteous pricks. So no, "Buy our new game Far Cry 3! =D"... Screw you Ubisoft, only morons, casuals (who now think of themselves as the "average gamer"), and sycophants would continue to buy Ubisoft's spewed out garbage.

The last AC game for me was Assassin's Creed : Brotherhood and that was disappointing. Until they make amends, Ubi are dead to me. I only hope that they don't get their dirty paws on THQ, or we'll lose yet more great franchises.

As for 2012, we've had Dragon's Dogma which was actually frickin' awesome, and we had Syndicate, which again, was suprisingly intense, well-designed and genuinely immersive. Never buy the biggest titles, they're always contaminated by corporate bullshit.

#24 I agree!!!! People running like dorks getting 100 point kills while I get 300-600 point kills. Running sort of ruins MP, MP itself I like.

Skyrim is a better game, BUT that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the amazing single player story, the protagonist, or the MP. I like it all in this game, but skyrim just has more to offer than this game. Despite all of skyrim's glitches.

Dont they employ games testers anymore to find this shit out BEFORE the game's release?

Stop focusing on making even more profits on DLC and start bringing games out without bugs so many bugs please. Patches are all very well for those connected to the internet.

Games developers are so lazy now it's unreal!
