GAME has announced that it's set to commence a series of store lock-in community events to take place after store opening hours, giving gamers the opportunity to get their hands on some exciting future releases ahead of their respective launch dates.

In a deal with EA, the first of these lock-in events will run across January into the first half of February from this weekend onwards in 18 of the retailer's stores. You have to be 18 or over to qualify for attendance, and either signing up in-store or tweeting the relevant store in question is the only way to secure an invite on a first come, first served basis.

Snacks and drinks will be provided, and the first set of events during January and February will offer up some hands-on time with Visceral Games' Dead Space 3. Spare underwear is optional, but advised.

Here's the list of dates confirmed thus far:

  • 6th January 2013: Westfield Stratford
  • 6th January 2013: Birmingham Bullring
  • 6th January 2013: Glasgow
  • 8th January 2013: Newcastle
  • 9th January 2013: White Rose, Leeds
  • 9th January 2013: Kingston
  • 11th January 2013: Watford
  • 13th January 2013: Sheffield Meadowhall
  • 13th January 2013: Cardiff
  • 13th January 2013: Bluewater
  • 15th January 2013: Nottingham
  • 15th January 2013: Southampton
  • 17th January 2013: Norwich
  • 17th January 2013: Reading
  • 19th January 2013: Bristol
  • 20th January 2013: Thurrock
  • 20th January 2013: Manchester
  • 7th February 2013: Belfast

If they're that desperate to sell games maybe they could try lowering their prices.

Sounds like a cool idea. However, the people that will go to these things are not really the type of people that I hang around with.

50 people in each store..........Is this a joke? There's no way they can fit that many in Plus way too late in the night to get there.

What a turnaround Game has had since last year... A few months ago EA were refusing to give Game any more credit and now they are brothers in arms again !

It' a funny old world !!!

White rose? How stupid! Completely Innaccessible for most, not to mention they will have to spend a fortune on keeping the whole mall open and security!

I'm not surprised GAME's credit rating's improving. They sent me a game i'd preordered and hadn't received from their website. And then refuse to send me a copy or refund the money they've basically stole from me. Have a dispute goin on about this atm. But they're scumbags. Pure n simple

@12 lmfao, seriously can't possibly be that naive!? Yeah, Activision have really looked after James Bond fans, and Guitar Hero fans...
What was it their CEO said a couple of years ago, that he was only interested in IPs that could be exploited yearly on as many systems as possible I believe. Don't get me wrong I'm no fan of EA but Activision make less decent games, charge extra for them and they started the whole bullshit subscription model with Elite! Let's just say they're not all about the fans and leave it at that shall we?!

Tempted to go to the one in Nottingham. Usually I'd just go out instead that day (Tuesday), but seeing as I'm giving blood the 16th, any form of Alcohol is totally off-limits that day :)

I agree White Rose an't the easiest of places to get to unless U drive, also the store is tiny. This might be why they're holding it midweek in the hope it'll put people off. It seems silly to hold a lock-in event on a weekday night.

I suppose GAME really will do whatever they have to in order to keep the business coming in the door. It's a shame really; we all know some pillock is going to find a way to leak the game well before its release date, if it isn't already leaked by that point.

Can't think of much worse than being trapped in a Game store with their staff (mostly idiots whose knowledge extends only to Skylanders). That's real survival horror right there.

Awesome, now how about while they're locked in there after hours the staff take a look at the prices and see if they can guess why they went bankrupt last time.

I say Square Enix or Ubisoft are the best gaming companies. (Hitman, TimeSplitters, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Final Fantasy(it's ok))
Call Of Duty (Except 1-4) < All other FPS
