Ubisoft has announced that the Far Cry Outpost app for Far Cry 3 is now available to download on iOS and Android mobile devices, offering you the chance to customise your multiplayer and co-op weapon loadouts on the go, as well as keep an eye on the maps you've created in the game's Map Editor.

You can also decode encrypted data from discs, memory cards and USB sticks earned in multiplayer using your phone, unlocking advanced weapon mods and XP while you're on the bus, train or whatever. You get the idea, right? Here's the rundown of details:

  • Decode the encrypted data you find in game to unlock advanced weapon mods and earn bonus XP. Don’t wait until you’re playing the game to start decoding. Instead, decode on the go! Once you unlock a weapon mod, you can accept it, give it to one of your friends or sell it for more XP straight from your phone.
  • View and customise your Loadouts so that you’re ready to play once you’re back in the game.
  • Keep track of your progress through the Daily and Weekly Challenges. Completing these Challenges will earn you XP.
  • Check out your personal stats and the stats of your friends, including time played, level, top weapons, awards and more.
  • Keep track of the maps you’ve made in the Map Editor. You can follow the current tier placements and how many people have liked or favourited your maps.

Far Cry Outpost for Far Cry 3 is available to download for free on iOS and Android devices now. Oh, and you'll need a Uplay account to use it. Got that? Good. Here's a trailer explaining it all in more detail.

I don't want this. I want some more fantastic campaign stuff please. Even just repopulating the outposts would be a start.

I loved the mutiplayer and coop. I felt it came to the table with something new and interesting to the same old FPS multiplayer. People can create there own maps, you can search for a game and never play the same map more than once, the variation is incredible and you never know what you're gonna get.

I have Lord knows how many CDs I need to decode, this is a very handy app for me so I'll definitely check it out.

If online Multi-player is anywhere as shocking as the co-op I've been playing offline with me mates, I'm not going anywhere near it...

@8 I've had a WP7 for a year now and imo it's superior to both iphone and android, especially in its UI.

It's not a big deal. I'll stick with my 8x over any apple or android phone.

@15 - Good job you don't have to use it then, isn't it. And yet, people still complain.

@11,8,4. I'm on windows phone and to be honest, I'm not massively impressed. And this is exactly the sort of thing that SHOULD be brought to wp but isn't for some reason. Anybody know why? Are MS making things difficult for devs as they often do on arcade and indie etc?

I'd rather they fix the rock/camera glitch so I can get back to playing this.

id love for a dlc which brings in skirmishes for the outposts, it just gets too easy and flatlines when all outposts are liberated. they should make it like GTA: san andreas where gangs come back to try and take posts back

@ 8.

Ive extensively used Android, and iphone. Now I own a Windows Phone and it is by far superior to iOS, and at least on par with Android. The UI is most definately superior to other mobile operating systems.
