Skulls of the Shogun To Be Cheaper At Launch on Windows 8, WP and Surface

17-Bit, the indie developer behind Skulls of the Shogun has today confirmed that the Windows 8 version of the game will be available cheaper at launch for a limited time, meaning you can snap up the Windows 8, Windows Surface and Windows Phone versions of the game for less.

"We’ve heard from the community that they want to get Skulls of the Shogun not only on their Xbox 360, but on all of their Microsoft devices,” said 17-Bit Founder and CEO, Jake Kazdal. “By discounting the Windows 8, Windows Surface, and Windows Phone versions of Skulls, we hope everyone can dive into the Skulls Anywhere asynchronous single-player and multiplayer gameplay.”

You'll be able to purchase 17-Bit's turn-based action strategy title, Skulls of the Shogun for $9.99 (normally $14.99) on Windows 8 and Windows Surface from the Microsoft Store, while the Windows Phone version will launch at $4.99 (normally $6.99) on the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Give Lee B's hands-on preview a read to find out more about Skulls of the Shogun, which will be releasing on January 30th, 2013. It'll cost 1200 Microsoft Points on XBLA.

XBLA = 1200 MSP? No Sale.
WP7 = $5? No Sale.
Win 8 = $10? No Sale.

The same game on three different platforms. Look, dude, hardly any game on the phone is worth $5. Pull your finger out. $2.99 tops.

Also, it's been proven time and again 1200 MSP is a hated price point. Do it for 800 MSP.

And just because it's on a touch/surface/wini 8 device does not mean you can rip people off. $10 is too much for an 'arcade' game. $5-6 tops.

I understand resisting 1200 price point for some games, but games like Braid, Shadow Complex, Limbo, Trials HD and Evolution, and others have proven the price point makes sense and is supported for good games (heck Minecraft is selling like crazy at 1600). If you don't think this game is at that level, at least wait and read a few reviews before making such a judgement. Or try the free trial/demo that comes with every game and decide for yourself.

Why cant they do this kind of thing for the xbox? I would love to see MS get more in touch with their users instead of the same ol boring DOTW being recycled

@4
"Also, it's been proven time and again 1200 MSP is a hated price point."

i don't necessarily think its been "proven". people bitch about the price point and then fork over the points. until people stop buying stuff at that price point, it is here to stay.

i for one was already planning on waiting for a sale, but now that it has been revealed that x360 users are paying more for the game than other platforms, that absolutely cemented my decision to wait. unfortunately, i am the minority as the majority ruins it for everyone. it's a classic case of "this is why we can't have nice things"

I'll probably buy it for $10. It's gotta be worth that. Are achievements shared between all versions?

Agree with #4. It should be:

800 MSP on XBLA
$4.99 on Windows 8
$1.99 on Windows Phone

Take it from me, 1200msp is definitely a hated price point. I paid that for Shadow Complex only. Amazing game, would have sold a ton more at 800 yet I want a retail sequel.

@13 wait so one of the highest selling games (was the highest for along time) at 1200 showed that it would have even sold more? I doubt it. I wouldn't mind paying 15.00 if it was a shared price point or even 1600 msp if I paid once I had access to the w8/rt wp and xbl verison

@8 I also agree with #8. I was planning of getting it straightaway, but because they are basically giving the finger to 360 users, I will wait for the sale.

@4 You and gamers like you are pathetic. $15 Dollars is too much for a downloadable title, that features a 15 hour campaign, and multiplayer. Yet a lot of you fork over $60 for games that end up being shorter with little to no replay value. If you are interested in the game then buy it. This is a much better deal than a lot of retail games.
