Dead Space 3
Dead Space 3 Demo Has Been Downloaded Almost 2 Million Times
Written Monday, February 04, 2013 By Richard Walker
View author's profile

Gamers apparently like themselves a bit of Dead Space, as almost 2 million people have downloaded the demo of Dead Space 3 across Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network since its release on January 22nd.

This marks a 'double-digit' increase over Dead Space 2's demo according to EA, and what's more, the game's official Facebook page has also attracted an additional 90,000 'likes' with gamers mentioning Dead Space 3 more than 100,000 times across a range of social media.

Anticipation for Dead Space 3 is evidently rather high then, with pre-orders also outpacing those of Dead Space 2. We'll have a Dead Space 3 verdict for you very soon. It's out on February 5th in North America and February 8th in Europe.

A "double-digit increase"?
Pardon my stupidity but couldn't that be construed to mean the DS3 demo has been downloaded 2,000,000 times as opposed to DS2's 1,999,901 times?

i.e. an extra 99(max) times? Seems like a silly choice of words.

Metacritic already has one review up from some naughty Aussies who should know better.
They gave it a double digit number.

Roll on whatever day my pre-order feels like showing up.

@4; Most people would construe that phrase as a leap from, say, 10,000 to 1,000,000. Y'know, increasing by two digits.

That said, I'm pretty sure DS2's demo must have exceeded 99,999 downloads, so I'm just going to call it exaggerated marketing bull****. :P

They probably meant a double digit increase in the percentage of DLs, but still, it was a poor way to word it :p

Eh, playing the demo and 'mentioning' Dead Space 3 doesn't mean that people on a large scale think it's good. Though EA does seem to live by 'any press is good press'.

I'm excited for it. Loved 1 & 2. Ready to get more of Isaac's story.
The demo was a nice intro to the new guns and environment. Has that good ole' Dead Space feel to it.

2 million downloads, 1.5 million disappointed.

Probably wouldn't have received as many downloads had there not been the promise of free DLC upon completion.

The demo actually put me off of the game. I'll still get it eventually, Visceral know how to make a fine product so it'll no doubt be a great game even if it's not a great Dead Space game.

They should have done a Dead Space Complete Collection, would have loved to go through all games with dlc in one package.

It's too late for me now to jump in the saga, cause I know nothing about past. May be I should pick up dead space 1 :S

Microtransactions is a business model where users can purchase virtual goods via micropayments. Microtransactions are often used in free-to-play games to provide a revenue source for the developers.

I understood him perfectly. He is a troll for complaining about word usage online. If you spend your time going around websites only posting about word usage, punctuation and/or spelling you are a troll. In fact look up the definition of what a troll is (related to the internet) and compare that to #4.

I just came here because I want to play DS3... not read people complain about word usage in the article.

Please wake up.

I downloaded the demo twice! :D
(it was really glitchy the first time and redownloading seemed to fix it)

P.S. to all the demo haters: It's a DEMO, not the full game; Demos don't represent the full game, their main purpose is to show off the new things Developers put in.

@41 you complete retard, a demo is supposed to demonstrate exactly what the finished game will offer, you know the word DEMO being the shortened meaning of DEMONSTRATION. Its not a BETA or ALPHA stage of the game, its suposed to show a finished snippet of a game thats meant to make the customer want to buy it. Seriously cant cope with some people and their stupid comments, next thing you know people will try saying test driving a car doesnt reflect how your car will actually drive

I downloaded the demo, but I'm unlikely to actually buy the game. Might borrow it from a friend as I did with DS and DS2. I like Dead Space but by the time I get around to playing it, it'll probably be hard to find a new copy in the shops anyway.

I'll be honest, I haven't heard great things about this game so far; sounds like its pretty much ruined. I'll give the demo a try before I make a decision though. Might be a rental. Looking forward to x360a's review though

I think I would have like to have them keep the universal ammo and stuff they said they were changing in final game. I don't like being forced to conserve ammo lol.
