Star Trek Making Of Vid Explores "The Ultimate Co-Op Experience"

Namco Bandai has released a new Star Trek vid, showing some behind the scenes action from the making of the game. “The ultimate co-op experience,” they’re calling it.

“Kirk is this brash cowboy character, whereas Spock is the exact opposite – and when you break down Star Trek to those elements, you had to make a co-op game,” says Brian Miller, executive producer. “There was no other game we could possibly make.”

Have a look at the vid below and judge for yourself. Star Trek is out in April, 2013.

I have a feeling any Star Trek fans will adore this, I unfortunately never got into Star Trek because I always felt like I'd need to dedicate a lot of time watching all of the old films and learning all about it. I hope this game tells me a bit of the lore whilst I play it.

Star Trek actually starts with the latest series called "enterprise". Then it's the original series, which to be blunt you can easily do without watching. But you don't need to watch the old kirk series's to learn about Star Trek.

This looks like it will be fantastic, after a little more polish and some audio tweaks.

"Trekkies" only want a game where you burn every inch of film used to make that movie

Phasers fire in a constant beam, not bolts. That's Star Wars. The only exception is the Defiant, which carries "shredding phasers" to fight the Borg.

Plenty of time to fix that before certification kiddees

Maybe they are firing in bolts instead of beams because this is before they learned they can hold down the trigger. At this point they just keep pulling and letting go. I dunno... I've never seen any Star Trek.

As a Star Trek I can honestly say that I have never wanted a co-op shooter. I'd rather have a point and click adventure game or RPG. Something that actually involves exploration, talking to new races and solving puzzles.

This game is feel mix of Dead Space and Mass Effect for some reasons. This new Star Trek will be good game I am sure. Because video trailers show it is what they look and playable like. I will of course take my time and explores every areas in missions. :)
